  1. 2002 car, I believe it has a Pretensioner stalk which if so has to be removed by disconnecting the battery power for at least half hour before unplugging the electrical connection to the stalk and then removing it with a spanner. Disposal is another matter though
  2. Feel free to jump in if you think you can answer any posts Jim, thanks
  3. Hi.....welcome to the Forum I believe this may be a common fault Worth doing a search on the system fitted to your car and see what the results are
  4. Hi....welcome to the Forum It does sound like a Crank sensor issue. There could also be a cam sensor but a scan should give you fault codes. If a code is present for a cam sensor then the cambelt might be slack causing the code to flag up.
  5. Hi Andy, hope you are staying well? It could just be condensation building up in the engine due to short journeys and not getting hot enough to burn off. The trick would be to take the car on a long motorway run at speed to clear it through....could solve two problems at the same time?
  6. Hi Jim....welcome to the Forum We here to offer assistance if we can, so any issues - ask away! Good to have you onboard
  7. Hi Jim....welcome to the Forum This is an issue I am experiencing on a constant basis nowadays. Having successfully fitted numerous belts over the years and never had any issues, but recently I have had a spate of 'squeeky' belts. I am quite sure it relates to the country of manufacture (China) and even though the latest 'squeeky' belt I fitted was a Gates belt it was still made in China, which to me signifies that it is of poor quality (e.g. possibly not much rubber content?). I would source a reputable make of belt and preferably not one made it China .... this should resolve the issue.
  8. Hi Dan....welcome to the Forum That's a varied collection of cars you've owned over the years, personally I was a big fan of the mk3 Rover 200 Hope you enjoy your time with the Astra and good to have you onboard
  9. On some cars the spanner symbol comes on to signify Service is pending. Additionally, it can be to state there is a fault with the vehicle. It may be worth clearing the Service light by following any YouTube video on how to do this
  10. Hi...welcome to the Forum It's a difficult one because without drilling holes in the door and bulkhead which is not advisable at all then it will be difficult to introduce any further wires into the existing loom. Lets hope someone can come up with an alternative solution
  11. Hi Mike....welcome to the Forum There should be a default for the brake to come on automatically when the power is cut and the vehicle is stationary. It would worth visiting the dealership to ask them and if they need to make a default to the system.
  12. Hi Antonio.....welcome to the Forum What appears to be the problem with the ignition barrel?
  13. Hi....welcome to the Forum It is worth checking the microswitches as if any of these are faulty or misaligned then this will cause the issue.
  14. Hi Iain....welcome to the Forum A fine couple of Vauxhalls you have there. The Viva is now a very rare car indeed, not often I see one nowadays. Good to have you onboard
  15. Hi.....welcome to the Forum I am surprised that the parts supply is drying up but I can also imagine that the secondhand parts market is quite buoyant also. Good to have you onboard
  16. £60 is not bad price and if it makes the car run smoother and more economical then thats a good deal
  17. Sounds like a sensor (or blanking plug) for automatic wiper sensing or similar If you try to upload a photo (as small size as possible) and we can offer a more accurate idea
  18. Hi....welcome to the Forum Fault code 2345a is a boost pressure control circuit fault. Sometimes, it can be from the variable vanes being gummed up in the turbo. Maybe run some cleaning solution through the engine / turbo and give it a good blast which should clear it out
  19. Hi ....welcome to the Forum This is a link to the code but not sure how it relates to your misfire http://c0244.enginecodes.net/ I would independantly remove and inspect each spark plug and see which one is wet to know which cylinder is misbehaving
  20. It sounds like the coil packs or spark plugs are failing under load. You will need to replace the coil packs with QUALITY replacement parts and also the Spark Plugs will need to be set to the precise gaps and torque to the correct setting, otherwise the fault will continue in the future.
