  1. Hi Dave.....welcome to the Forum It sounds plausible that there are modifications to compensate for previous reliability issues. I would be tempted to run with the installation and see how it all goes now you're at this advanced stage. It may also be worth speaking to your local Vauxhall parts department to see whether it all tallies up as legitimate modified parts from a recall (maybe worth taking photos of the parts in question) Let us know how you get on with it all
  2. Hi Jodhi....welcome to the Forum Does the engine turn over when you turn the key or just not fire up the engine? Crank sensor comes to mind if the engine does not fire up.
  3. Sounds like it could be a heater temperature control solenoid sticking which is not altering the temperature rate and this is the clicking noise. You may have to stick your head under the dash to see if it is something you can easily access....easy to spot if its clicking constantly.
  4. Hi....welcome to the Forum It looks lovely and sunny in Spain, completely different to what we're experiencing here now Good to have you onboard Cheers, Trevor
  5. Hi....welcome to the Forum That's an odd one and may need to be scanned to see if there are any fault codes in the system. Quite possibly it could be an issue with the Clutch Switch which is causing the fault. Let us know if you find out the cause
  6. No, the cleaner you need for the turbo is for the variable vanes on the turbine (hot side) and this is very caustic but does the job. Either of these two will do: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/INNOTEC-VARIABLE-VANE-TURBO-CLEANER-KIT/283742412523?epid=735246736&hash=item42105d9eeb:g:HYsAAOSwglJeHJJx https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Diesel-Engine-Turbo-Cleaner-Cures-Limp-Home-Mode-Variable-Vane-Turbos/152003334878?epid=1943810068&hash=item23641ad2de:g:lQ4AAOSwZ8ZW2O4l
  7. Hi Jules....welcome to the Forum If the seatbelt is in the rear then the boot is leaking, which is a common fault, but if its in the front then I don't know what that is? Has the car come from somewhere like Helston in Cornwall which floods regularly within the year....check the log book for previous owners Silicon spray is good for squeaky pedals usually
  8. siggyv6cdti You're the Insignia expert....any ideas?
  9. There are cleaning solutions to clear out the carbon but the most efficient way is to drive it hard to get the engine hot and start to clear out the carbon which will take time but you can gradually build up the revs as the system will allow without going into limp home mode.
  10. Hi....welcome to the Forum If the headlamps are high then there is an issue with the ride height sensors which automatically adjust the level of the headlights when the suspension alters to avoid blinding other motorists. If one (or both) of the rear sensors is defective then this can cause the issue you are experiencing. Best to take it to a reputable garage who should be able to identify if there is an issue with the sensors Let us know how you get on with it
  11. This is a diagram of an HID setup (headlamp removed for ease of access) and it shows the ballast and the exciter which connects to the bulb
  12. An exciter is a ballast resistor I would think but never heard it called that before Also, I have never heard of resetting warning lamps for bulbs either as this would occur in the system when a new bulb is fitted
  13. It looks like a breather pipe going into it What's wrong with it
  14. Have you thought of swapping the ballast from one side to the other to prove the wiring and connections are okay.
  15. Hi....welcome to the Forum It sounds like the turbo variable vanes are gummed up. If you drive the car around locally and not take on long runs then this can occur.
  16. Certainly looks stylish enough Still sunny here in Dorset, long way from here now then?
  17. It would probably be the same for the Astra, AndyR
  18. Well you have certainly improved the looks of it and made it quite unique....proper job!
  19. Hi Jack....welcome to the Forum That's an aggressive front end of the car, looks great! What other mods have you done to it so far? Good to have you onboard
  20. Hi....welcome to the Forum I would be tempted to reinstate the EGR and put a blanking plate (with a small hole for the gas to be sensed by the engine management) to extinguish the EML.
  21. Hi....welcome to the Forum I would advise to take it into a transmission specialist who can diagnose the issue and it may well be that it needs a fluid and filter change which could improve the overall function of the gearbox operation. Generally, the fluid and filter replacement would not cost too much money and will definitely give longevity to the transmission
  22. that's a dilemma and one which is difficult to decide whether to leave it or just get it done and then not having to worry about it?
