  1. Hi.....not sure about the switches For safety reasons I can see why they would illuminate to show a way of escape in the dark if the doors could not open (possibly) but should power down once the ignition is switched off I would think?
  2. Hi...welcome to the forum Unfortunately, its not the busiest forum lately and also it relies on someone knowing the information you need. Sorry, not sure of the correct answer but never trust non OE copies myself, had a similar issue with Honda SatNav a few years ago...went OE and it worked fine
  3. Hi....welcome to the Forum Most reputable Motor Factors such as Jayar, Euro Car Parts, etc should be able to provide the parts you need. Go for a branded make of bearings (cost will determine quality usually). Better take measurements of journals to ensure standard and not reground in the past. Hope it goes well and keep updated with the build, would be interested in seeing it develop
  4. Hi....welcome to the Forum I always used to fit QH parts by choice but not sure of their provenance now (e.g. cheaply produced in China). Found Gates (a previously reliable source for quality parts) is now producing their auxiliary belts in China and they are dreadful, squealing and going loose regularly.....never going to fit Gates in the future now Let us know how you get on with them if you go that route
  5. Hi....welcome to the Forum Sounds like the turbo pressure is backfeeding through the throttle body. Not sure what could be causing that though, quite possible a modification or modified part to eliminate this occurring. Let us know if you find anything else about this.
  6. Hi Andy, all good here, thanks! If you have ABS you should get a lamp showing on the dashboard If nothing showing then more than likely not equipped with it. Alternatively, it may be remotely mounted near the master cylinder area and bolted to the chassis leg. Would be interested in seeing the old fluid Cheers. Trevor
  7. Hi....welcome to the Forum First thoughts are it is related to the battery voltage (or lack of it) It sounds like the BCM needs resetting as the battery voltage will still be storing memory of the low voltage until it is reprogrammed to accept the new voltage from the replacement battery....but I'm sure the Vauxhall dealership would know that Keep us updated on what you find out
  8. Hi...welcome to the Forum Sorry to hear your engine has expired. Usually the best place to source a replacement is via eBay and there are usually several rebuilders selling engines listed on there. Which ones are the best sellers I could not say but if there are any Ivor Searle engines available then grab on them as they are usually superb engines with good warranty
  9. Hi Gary.....welcome to the Forum It certainly does! https://www.britishmotormuseums.com/museum.php?mus_id=8
  10. Hi Gordon....welcome to the Forum There's not a lot on the internet for replacing the starter but found this video link which shows the location of it in the engine bay
  11. Hi Andrew...welcome to the Forum 18 year old Vectra, that's becoming a collectable car now Good to have you onboard
  12. It would be best to try to extract a part number from the old one before ordering the new one as there may be several variables of it. eBay is probably the best source to obtain a replacement motor
  13. That sounds quite ominous, was it working beforehand? If so, what changed (e.g. battery disconnection, etc)
  14. Hi Henrique....welcome to the Forum There are specialist parts suppliers out there, just need to search the net and see what pops up. Good luck with your search
  15. Hi.....welcome to the Forum Burning smell? is it a petrol or diesel? If it is diesel then it may be the DPF regenerating which produces a burning smell when active. Good to have you onboard
  16. Hi....welcome to the Forum It doesn't surprise me as some keys are now becoming more prevalent. Here is a company that may be able to assist https://www.car-keys-online.com/
  17. Not sure I've seen any videos but if you buy from Halfords then they can fit them for you (at a cost though)
  18. Hi Lyn....welcome to the Forum You would probably be best to have a Parrot system installed as they tend to work better than most original fitment systems and a lot cheaper as well. Let us know how you get on with it
  19. It certainly looks the part, can't say I have ever driven one and let alone compared the petrol and diesel version so look forward to seeing the video and hearing your thoughts on the car.
  20. Hi.....welcome to the Forum The GSi is now quite a rare car, feel free to post up some pics of it if you want Good to have you onboard
  21. Hi Janet....welcome to the Forum Congrats on the impending marriage, albeit next year now. Your best bet would be to contact any local Classic Car clubs and hopefully they may know someone who can assist you. Let us know how you get on
  22. Hi....welcome to the Forum Its either the motor or the switch, I would imagine it would be the motor more than the switch but you can't totally discount it until you fit one or the other. Also check any earth points near the motor and in the engine bay in general
  23. Hi...welcome to the forum I would personally use a smoke generator to find the source of the leak. Smoke is easier to find its way through any hole or crack, water is a lot denser and it tracks along surfaces unlike smoke.
  24. Hi Nick.....welcome to the Forum What a superb example of a mk2 Cavalier, great colour as well ! Good to have you onboard
  25. Hi ... welcome to the Forum It doesn't look like it does and usually anything Bluetooth has a logo marked on it You can purchase a Bluetooth adapter to plug into the cigar lighter that tunes into the Radio and gives you hands free capabilities
