  1. Did you ever find a conclusion to this issue? That is a crazy fuel consumption and suggests the engine is in dire need of servicing (filters, fluids, decarbonising, etc)
  2. Hi NIck A diagnosis with a Smoke Generator should instantly reveal the source of the leak. Some garages have this tool but also not too expensive to buy nowadays
  3. Hi Dererk the HP pump relies on a lift pump (low pressure) to draw fuel. I haven't seen many external LP pumps in engine bays for quite some time so more than likely in the fuel tank.
  4. Sounds like it could be the immobiliser. Try locking and unlocking the car several times and see if this makes a difference
  5. Thanks for the info Graham and useful to show the readings gained from filling with 10 litres, albeit difficult to know the exact distance before empty as depends on driving style, etc
  6. Hi Susan It is a tough decision but I am sure there are plenty of car enthusiasts who would like to take on a project vehicle that is quite rapidly becoming a modern day classic. You are welcome to place an advert in this forum at no cost and see if any members are interested. https://www.vauxhallownersclub.com/forums/forum/22-vauxhalls-for-sale/ It may be wise to add some photos to show the condition
  7. Hi Mark....welcome to the Club I would say it sounds like the variable vanes in the turbo are sticking (gummed up with carbon) which is a common fault it the turbo is not often wound up to boost often enough. Could recommend a turbo cleaning solution and a damn good high revs blast to clear it through. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331754313002?hash=item4d3e19152a:g:h5EAAOSw4Ehag~qM https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152003334878?epid=1523879080&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item23641ad2de:g:lQ4AAOSwZ8ZW2O4l&amdata=enc%3AAQAGAAACkPYe5NmHp%2B2JMhMi7yxGiTJkPrKr5t53CooMSQt2orsStEKTPzZMfQmny3knR97t0Nibf3MUsw2ePec05TNBCjp1KMX879Lx1RVj6dZ7rLu2G%2Bwrq0d4fxb86Hd9G8wapLnSgkZs6Cr2SfMM2jCPixpPJl12uo78V9uwFaFBvGDKG0BqiWYXn3VYZPgW4A6pv0jZydpmAYzAuyCcxyl50qAeQEkG5XQOsQH%2FCa3pIkFHKl97n7D1SDPGDJC6yQpbek15ICj8FstV%2FKejaLzufRGvSAN%2Fcn9W9nwbVUeOixuIxAIrX0v0LkVNL6z3%2Bn1PI11%2Fv4o7OZSCbI6a%2BWbfnCtm%2BwpRRccnPoY8ApaFR881D%2FkYVzFdJFu48FHooGuZKzjaqeoEZJz%2FVV7uMWM2Y95vchz2nLUEKjhAXGuUdq65vSx6FuJIZE0wjpov2baKKB37sG3jwKZO62ZDzx4QE7N5FBbejObEGfh0I1HW3mfzT0VRDsUEx6SSIN3yt8QDhvZYtpQmUTBXVhJrL4F4BMDiVLNhIe22xOWV8Fi5NT0GdlhJ4voTF34AGmm7MULI6s%2F1rsqyIHb7voYHfEk3g66bNQ%2B8kr%2BXR1xPesO%2F5RP378X7HwMsBYavcdI6jZkKGb1DeLvYTqPppognRpJHMUOwgmf45PwiAYeZdVCexqpjgXuELdOmPMLd%2BFiSfQGJ%2BaAaGfMFekg54f9FRGQtRGkBnXzXt3Bin7rG0D6dZfAQS563Q2NdFNbEOhb3ppMn9mB1HIiLZQQpfUyZUXUduo8mB15eZKYt65cnsxNZdwbbiH6ypPWlWAxoBlmy0Hb%2FmwSvgOCZm7yj1NF7B%2BsR2WdJVSBIbjrWlnQ8FMTRHnkg|ampid%3APL_CLK|clp%3A2334524
  8. Sounds like a good route to diagnosis, let us know what they find to be the cause of the noise
  9. It sounds very much like transmission bearings (internal) or a Dual Mass Flywheel or a clutch release bearing. Either way, it would necessitate removal of the transmission to diagnose and rectify If it is still driveable and not getting any worse then it could go on for many more miles if you can put up with the noise If in doubt, then a visit to the garage is imminent by the sound of it
  10. It may not work as the original wiring would be running through the HID igniter and you would have to run different wiring through a relay for it to work.
  11. Could try Halfords to see what they have in their range for your Vauxhall model
  12. Sounds like it could be a PCV valve or similar which is releasing pressure or resetting. If it is making that sort of noise then if one of the lines is running pressure or vacuum and is split then it can create this noise Carefully examine the hoses going to the unit
  13. You would be best to pop into your local Vauxhall dealership and ask the question. Maybe wouldn't be too costly but if you can get the part number then you can search online as these may have been fitted to many other models of Vauxhall
  14. Hi Raj....welcome to the Club I would imagine the original component would have Vauxhall / GM branding printed on it with a part number. I suppose an aftermarket one is fine and would work just as well
  15. Hi Ian ..... welcome to the Club Good to have you onboard!
  16. Well firstly it is amber which is a warning lamp but low priority, if it were red I would be concerned. It looks like a traction control light which should disappear as you drive away and it can get the correct readings from the sensors.
  17. Hi....welcome to the Club Good to have you onboard!
  18. I wouldn't think the power increase is enough to cause issues as its well within what the manufacturers would map it up to (they always allow a margin under what the engine is capable of)
  19. Ebay is always a good source for clips but you may have to trawl through to find the exact ones
  20. Worth checking Halfords as they always have a good selection of after-market audio head units that should fit with a fascia plate
  21. Should be solid I would imagine but you can always check on EuroCarParts website and enter your registration number to see what options come up in the parts selection
  22. I don't know whether pulling the fuse it sufficient as there is probably a backup battery in the alarm siren. Maybe use a sunscreen to block out much of the heat/UV entering through the screen. Mind you I can't remember the last time I saw the sun in Dorset this year
  23. Hi....welcome to the Club That's unfortunate that its got problems just after you purchased it....is there a warranty with it? I think the only thing you can do is doing what your already doing but oil can creep along surfaces so it proves difficult to isolate the exact cause. I would start with the oil pressure switch and then look at whether it is coming from a certain level or if it is something rotating it thats throwing it around the engine. At least if you can isolate the area it is coming from then look more specifically for the exact cause Let us know how you get on with it
  24. You could try to engage first gear and then try reverse gear, if this eases the selection then it is sometimes the best way. Alternatively, the clutch could be dragging slightly / worn and not able to fully disengage
  25. There is an additive on the market called Stop Smoke, think it is made by Wynns or STP Probably best to run it on 10w40 as this should reduce the symptoms
