  1. well done for trying it Andy. Maybe trying another camera or phone will work better
  2. Hi....welcome to the Forum I have just researched the cost of a basic service with Vauxhall and if you have an Oil Service only then it is only £99 and they will have to extinguish the Service lamp as part of that cost. That way the Car gets the service (albeit an oil and filter change only) and also the lamp is put out....not a bad price considering its genuine parts as well
  3. You will need to reduce the size of the photos so it using a phone you can alter the settings for picture quality to reduce size
  4. Well thats good news, onto the next suspect parts. Let us know how you get on with it
  5. Great result Andy....and I knew it would sit higher, always looks better once they're replaced
  6. Sorry Andy, didn't work Here's where the upload is
  7. To be fair it is always difficult to diagnose noises from video but how you describe it and also that with the belt off and it disappears then this does suggest the pulley being faulty. Sometimes, if its recently had a cambelt then this can follow shortly afterwards
  8. If it is making the noise with the belt on then it is the crankshaft pulley (harmonic balancer) that is breaking up. You will need to replace the pulley with a later improved replacement one (probably dealer supplied) and usually a tensioner which will be of a different diameter possibly and also a new belt which should solve the issue.
  9. Hi Dylan.....welcome to the Forum That is a very odd fault and not one I have encountered before. Due to the dangerous element to this fault I would be tempted to take it into a local independent garage for them to diagnose it. Could also be an injector fault but worth getting it diagnosed to make sure it doesn't become a 'run away diesel' engine.
  10. Hi.....welcome to the Forum You are welcome to place an advert in this forum but not sure there are that many members passing through enough to see the advert so maybe AutoTrader or similar would get a quick sale
  11. Hi....welcome to the Forum Sounds like a transmission bearing or worn gears if its only noisy when in 2nd gear. Would either live with it and wait until it spreads to other gears or look at costly replacement.
  12. I recently replaced all four springs on an 2008 Astra and what a difference that made to the stance and ride quality. You just don't notice the difference over time as the springs sag with use. Good luck with the job Andy
  13. Hi Andrew, welcome to the Club Sounds like an absolute bargain. I have copied this post into the For Sale section of the forum as well
  14. Hi...welcome to the Forum Its a tough one, but sometimes when a pulley is breaking up it will make an audible sound on overrun (due to centrifugal forces throwing out the components as they slow down). So it could be a pulley, or a Dual Mass Flywheel, or a timing chain, big end bearings, etc It would be best to take it into a good independent garage for them to diagnose the area that the sound is emanating from. An easy way to eliminate the crankshaft pulley is to remove the auxiliary drivebelts and see if the noise disappears (when stationary off course) Let us know what you find
  15. Hi Richard....welcome to the Forum Good luck with the sale, I don't think it will be too long before someone snaps it up
  16. Click on 'choose files at the bottom of the post and upload the images (small size as possible)
  17. Hi.....welcome to the Forum Sorry to hear that its potential head gasket failure. There are however 3 ways the head gasket can fail 1. mixing oil into the coolant and vice versa (noticable by mixed oil and water which is like mayonaise) 2. Coolant or oil leaking externally 3. Gasket failing between cylinders and / or introducing coolant into the cylinder(s) Hope you get it sorted at a good price but bear in mind the cylinder head may need skimming which is an extra cost Also, a common fault is injector sleeves which have coolant behind them corrode through and allow coolant into the combustion chambers which is then burnt and you'll see an increase in temperature and steam from the exhaust. If these need to be replaced then it is a head off job
  18. If an ignition coil needs replacing then it is a good idea to replace the plug at the same time. Usually, coils fail if the plug gap is too large and / or overtightened which will increase the gap. The coil has to work harder and fails sooner
  19. High Collestoral in engines!.....that's a first Glad it all worked out okay Andy and thanks for the update
  20. I have now moved it over to the correct section. Clearance and speedo error would have to be factored into the whole arrangement but please keep us in the loop as always nice to know if something works.
  21. Hi.....welcome to the Forum I too am at that age when low profiles no longer appeal mainly due to the ride comfort and desire not to corner at high speeds. Upgrading the profile aspect ratio is a good thing and given the state of the road is probably the best way forward to avoid destroying suspension components. I would however, avoid buying cheaper chinese tyres (ditch finders!) which are a huge waste of money and go for something that is more reliable in all road conditions. Let us know how you get on with it all
  22. Hi....welcome to the Forum In this instance I would say there is a faulty wheel sensor and the ABS is offline as a result. A quick scan would reveal which sensor is at fault and it should be a relatively cheap and simple task to replace it which will bring the system back online and put the light out
  23. Hi Steve.....welcome to the Forum It sounds like the switch could be faulty or a connection leading to the switch. It may be worth lining a replacement up at the right price and changing it over.
  24. Hi....welcome to the Forum It looks like the auxiliary drive belt has been changed from looking at the picture. I would let them do what they have to do but do not accept it back if there is a diesel sound to the engine as this would suggest something is blowing and not connected back properly. There is no conversion to a belt from a chain that I know of. Good luck and keep us updated on the progress
