  1. Hi Ray....welcome to the Forum Sometimes the reset doesn't always work first time, think you have to press the brake pedal. Worth trying another reset procedure to see if it lists any further instructions, had one in recently that did the same and refused to play ball so kept trying until it went
  2. Hi....welcome to the Forum Good to see someone making their car individual, not much of that nowadays unfortunately. Quite a few mods you've done there and love the bodywork symbols Good to have you onboard
  3. Hi Jay....welcome to the Forum I guess they wouldn't be wrong about the software upgrade but it seems like you are in their hands as it would more than likely be a dealer only task. Let us know how it all goes
  4. Hi Ray.....welcome to the forum Not too sure to be honest but I'm sure siggyv6cdti would have some idea as he is very adept at Vauxhall engine and transmission swaps I'm sure that physically it will go in but its all the ancillary stuff and coding it all up that would be an issue Let us know what you find out
  5. It may be difficult to remove the barrel without the key unless you remove the whole lock assembly by removing the two blind screws (with missing heads) underneath the unit
  6. Hi....welcome to the Forum If you can't get a replacement one then getting one made up by a specialist pipe & tubing company may be an alternative and cheaper option. I quite often get out of stock parts made up using a local company and always works out much cheaper than I thought
  7. Hi...welcome to the Forum Not sure about pattern panels being available much nowadays but a skilled panel beater could probably make up some patch panels to repair areas of corrosion. As for exterior panels such as doors and wings then eBay or scrapyards may be your only choice
  8. It could be an injector fault or as you say, it could be wear on that particular cylinder. I would clean all the components and reassemble if you can't find any further issues with the engine. A cheap Boroscope camera which runs through your phone should allow you to examine the individual cylinders for excess build up of oil or undue wear.
  9. Hi Steve....welcome to the forum Does the oil smell of diesel, e.g. is the fuel going past the rings and into the oil? If so, then the oil will be diluted and require changing immediately as this can lead to ingestion within the combustion (runaway engine) which in the long run is far cheaper to replace the oil than the engine. Alternatively, it sounds also like the fuel return is blocked, (fuel filter, return valve, etc) Let us know what you find out
  10. Hi Jeff....welcome to the forum Good for you! it's got to be worth keeping on the road with numbers that low and as you say if you can keep it maintained and on the road and it serves a useful purpose then go for it! I personally like working on Vauxhalls as most jobs are easy enough to tackle and parts are cheap as well. Good to have you onboard and feel free to post up some pics of the Sintra
  11. Sounds like crankshaft sensor at fault. The resistance changes with temperature and if faulty the cuts out until it cools down. Check fault codes with a scanner and see if crank sensor comes up
  12. Air induction and exhaust would be a good start
  13. That's not too bad then and hope the battery has improved things
  14. So lovely to see any early one still on the road she's definitely worth doing up in my opinion
  15. Hi Colm....welcome to the Forum Feel free to jump into any posts that you want to and keep us updated on anything on the Astra H, i love working on these cars, so easy to repair. Good to have you onboard Cheers, Trevor
  16. Good to hear and thanks for letting us know the outcome
  17. Okay....do not connect it back up as this could start a fire. Have the car checked by a garage as a matter of urgency as this is not right Let us know how you get on with it
  18. Hi Pam....welcome to the Forum My first thoughts were that with the lack of use during the lockdown that the battery has gone flat If it is the original battery, even jump starting won't have much of an effect on starting if the cells are dead. Maybe worth trying a new (good quality) battery and see how you get on
  19. Hi...welcome to the Forum Wow! you certainly seem to be working your way through the Vauxhall range! The Carlton is now quite rare as you say, especially early examples in rust free condition. Good to have you onboard and feel free to post up some pics of the Carlton
  20. Hi....welcome to the Forum Glad all the issues are sorted now and you can enjoy driving the car (when the lockdown has finished of course) Good to have you onboard Cheers, Trevor
  21. The battery swap should be okay to retain settings but if in doubt you can use another battery to connect via wires to put a charge through the leads whilst disconnected. There is a special tool for this but you can use wires for cheaper option https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Draper-12V-Car-Vehicle-Radio-Code-Clock-Memory-Saver-12V-Socket-Battery-Changing/133344192488?hash=item1f0beee7e8:g:3hMAAOSwOGleVSSs
  22. As long as you have a way of securing the new one in with screws or rivets then thats what I would do
  23. HI Dan....welcome to the forum What options does your VXR specification have?
