  1. Well the new exhaust is here, and so is the snow. Looks like a job for the future rather than the present. It's not blowing too bad, just enough to be annoying. Good old ebay, complete front section for £25.65 and free delivery. Slowly getting back to getting these jobs done. Lets hope snow don't hang around too long.
  2. Hi Chris, I t sounds like you are having quite an issue there. I have a 02 Astra G 1.6 auto. The only issues that the obd reader chucked up was to do with emissions, which i have been trying to cure. Mainly saying misfire on number 3. I have since found that it has a blow in the flexi part of exhaust, so i am hoping that was causing its tizzy fit. Could it still be the ecu giving you grief? It sounds like a trip to a dealer might be required to get those faults sorted. Regards Andy.
  3. Decided to bite the bullet and get it done. Weather is supposed to be getting bad the weekend, so as it was nice yesterday, I got on with it. Must admit that i was concerned about doing it. Checked levels this morning and all good. I did an engine oil and filter change whilst i was under there too. So more ticks on the list.
  4. And how. Now waiting for the new front exhaust pipe to arrive. That'll be another tick on the list of to do's.
  5. The old oil. Ignore the can, as you can see by the mess. I missed...
  6. Well I have finally got out and managed to do the oil change on my automatic box. Must admit I was very worried about doing it, as never done oil change on an auto before. All good, clean fresh ATF installed. The old oil was very black, and smelt like ordinary diff oil. I will try to post pics. Car is running smooth between gears again. Might give it a couple of months and do it again to get rid of all traces of old oil.
  7. Update on the speedo problem. Had a sticky caliper on near side front. Took it all apart and cleaned everything up. Whilst wheel was off I checked all the wiring, including speedo drive from gearbox. I have a feeling there was a loose connection as I nipped all connectors and now it's working fine. That's that job jobbed.
  8. oh yes. The incentives to get greasy.
  9. it will be done. Got to get new front exhaust pipe, so whilst it's in the air, I'll be getting it all done. Need to find my torque bits for the drain plug though. If the weather gets that bad, I'll find some wheeler dealer re-runs towatch.
  10. Too many re runs of programmes on, so we've been decorating of an evening, and helping children with there school work during the day. Well the wife has done most of the school stuff.... I've been doing bits to the car. New rear brakes, trying to sort out that speedo problem, to no avail. Now got to do front pipe of exhaust, and the gear oil is on the cards for this wednesday come rain or shine.
  11. Hi Ray, welcome aboard the forum. Would be great to see some pictures of your S reg Astra. I am in a mk4 "G" Astra. Regards AndyR
  12. Hi Don, welcome to the forum. There is probably someone on here that could answer that question. They are a great bunch that have been very helpful for myself and others. Regards Andy.
  13. Hi Trevor. It seems to have sorted itself out at the moment. Went in to town yesterday for optician appointment. Gave it a good blast along the A11 and back again. And it was working fine. Having said that though, I'll probably go out in it next time, and it'll be playing up again. I will be checking wiring, sensors and such though. Andy.
  14. Just come home from weekly shopping trip, and noticed car seems to pull a bit to the left. Pressures all fine. Could the hub/wheel bearing be dying? Speedo not so jumpy today.
  15. Thanks Trevor, it was bouncing about like a kid on a trampoline. 40,30,20,10,50,20 etc.
  16. Hi all. Hope you are all making the most of lockdown. I went out in my Astra G this evening, first time in 3 days. And the speedo is all over the place when maintaining a steady speed or slowing down. When pulling away and building up speed its steady. Have read that it could be the ABS sensor in the hub. I dont have ABS. Could this be the hub dying or just a dodgy connection? Thanks in advance. Andy.
  17. With what I can find on different pages, they rarely mention ECU, but the vectra.com page has a similar problem and noted that his ECU had been revamped, and not sealed properly so water got in and caused deterioration. Might be an idea to do the other faults first, and if it's ok, then great news. If not it might be the ECU is the next step. Regards Andy.
  18. Hi I can't seem to find the original link that said about water ingress. But on searching again, I have found a page that may help, and doesn't mention water ingress. Its p1625enginetroublecode.com The heading is titled Opel Zafira P1625 Engine Trouble Code-Opel Zafira P1625 OBD-11 It gives a breakdown of the meaning of the error code, and a fault diagnosis and possible solutions. Is the 63 part of the code 1663? If it is , it shows this as PCM (Powertrain Control Module) detecting a failure in the Fuel delivery command line. Hope this helps. Andy.
  19. Hi Mike. Hope you have managed to sort out your problems. If not I have just found the error code on google, which states that it could be water ingress into the ECU. Probably not what you want to hear. Hope this points you in the right direction. Unless you have already solved your problem. Regards Andy.
  20. Hi Baggers198634, Welcome to the club forum. Sounds like you've got a trustworthy car there. As a suggestion on its worth, it might be an idea to look on for sale sites for similar cars of that age, and see what they are selling/sold for. And then price accordingly. Are you just getting rid of, or replacing with a newer model? Good luck with the sale. Somebody out there will be looking for a good run around. Regards Andy.
  21. Hi all, would be nice to get something sorted on having regular owners meets somewhere. But with C-19 at the moment, thats not looking possible. Maybe once the restrictions are lifted, we can start to get some plans drawn up. Stay safe.
  22. Hi Mixa, I had this same problem with my 03 Astra G. Although oil level was ok, it did look quite old, and like yourself not knowing when it was last serviced, I gave it a good service, filter fresh oil, and all was good. The light went out and never came back on. Hope this helps. Happy New Year. Andy.
  23. Hope everyone has had a Merry Christmas, and are all looking forward to the new year celebrations,(however it plays out). New year means getting on with all those jobs that have built up. HAPPY 2021 EVERYBODY.
  24. Not done yet, unfortunately still having mobility problems. And it's been quite wet here too. Must get it done though, for the cars benefit. Will keep you posted.
  25. Thanks, it seems to be easing. I do suffer with back problems quite often, due to an industrial injury a few years ago. But yes some nice days would be good. Hoping to get on this weekend. I see extra pain killers in my future.
