Hi all. Are there any members thinking of heading to Vauxfest this coming weekend? Stonham Barns Suffolk. Should be a great weekend for all vauxhall,Opel and Bedford fans. I'm hoping to be able to head down for one of the days. There are trade and club stands this year. So should be more interesting. So get those vehicles polished up, and show your pride and joys to the Vauxhall community . AndyR.

Now that the old girl has a new lease of life. I thought i'd give her a clean up and add some stripes to break up that silver a bit. And she has just made another milestone. 240000 miles. Not bad for a 23 year old.

Finally managed to get my dash working again. I found a reset method which has cured the problem. It's called disconnection of the battery for 15 minutes. I decided to remove the after market wiring for the electric fan, and whilst doing this I needed to disconnect the live terminal. And once I had done, and all was back together. The dash was working again, and has been ever since. And I am no longer getting a static shock every time I get out of the car. Which is a win win in my book.

Hello everyone. Well my astra passed mot today. Only problem was that when the garage backed it out at the end of the test. The speedo cluster has stopped working again. So later I'm going to pull it apart again to see what's occurring.
-
Cheers, I am hoping for good news when it goes in. With all that's been done over the last few months I can't see there being any issues.

Welcome to the club, hope you have many miles of happy motoring.

Well now all the maintenance is sorted on the astra, it's time for a clean up to make her presentable for the mot. Had a good wash this evening, and tomorrow will be a good hoover and clean out inside. And if I have enough time left, I will get the polish out too. She's going to get spoilt.
-
Finally got this sorted. Turns out that the speedo cluster can work loose on the plug to the main loom. I removed the cluster today, and gave the connections a clean. After refitting back in to the dash, I now have all clocks and gauges back working again. I can only wish I'd gone and seen my local garage earlier. Car wouldn't have been stood about so long. Booking m.o.t. tomorrow, so should be back on the road soon.

Well 48hrs later, and car still has build up of static. Which is weird considering the battery was disconnected. But the good news is that I found our the problem with the gauges. It turns out that the connection into the speedo cluster can become worn. I removed it, looked at it , and then put it back. Now it is all working, even temp gauge is playing ball. So booking mot tomorrow, and hopefully be back on the road soon.

I've fitted new battery today, and it's made no difference unfortunately. I have disconnected it for now as the electric fan kicked in and wouldn't shut off until the battery was unhooked. I'm hoping that maybe overnight the electrics will discharge and when I reconnect the battery there will be an improvement. I have been told that there could be a fault in the cluster itself. So I might remove that and check it out.

Well i replaced the hub assembly, and yes i got all my gauges back. Went to try to check speedo works, and found battery didn't have enough to start the car. so after a good charge, i put battery back. Car started first pull, but i have no gauges, and no speedo and rev counter again. Any ideas would be appreciated thanks.

That's a nice looking beast you have there. Not my favorite colour, but it does make it stand out.

Hi there Johndoh. Welcome to the forum. I am sure you will find lots of interesting stuff on here. Feel free to post any questions you might have. And if you've had an issue that you've managed to sort yourself, you can share your knowledge. Regards Andy.

Well here's an update on wheel bearing and speedo. When I fitted the new bearing the other day, I had all gauges working. The car has sat on the drive for a couple of days due to a flat battery. Got her going this morning, and all gauges are not working again. Temp gauge sits twitching, but no other movement. If anyone had any ideas of the next step. Please please help me. Can't get mot until this problem is fixed.

Hi folks. Stonham Barns is holding Vauxfest again this year. But this year they are allowing club stands too. If anyone is interested in attending the details are to follow.

Set about the wheel bearing today. All sorted and I have my gauges back working g. Can't check speedo yet as battery flat. But will be checking over the brakes and then will see about booking the mot. I have a feeling the bearing had seen better days.
-
Will do. Just waiting for the bearing to turn up. And then the fun will begin. Done the engine coolant flush yesterday, so that's another box ticked. I'm getting there slowly.
-
Hoping so. Haven't took her out yet,as doing lots of the little Jobs I've been putting off. Next o the list is front wheel bearing as lost all gauges.
-
Hi, I replaced my engine mount yesterday. I believe I've had my mileage out of it. It seems a little worn.

Hi everyone, I'm in the process of doing maintenance on the astra. I am going to do a coolant flush and refresh, and also sort out the egr system. Does the coolant work with the egr, as I've noticed that the heater pipes are connected to the pipework from egr. And would having a clogged coolant system cause the egr to misbehave? Thanks in advance Andy

Hi there, there is a section on here that is solely for sales. Either vehicles or parts. If you stick some pictures and a price, there might be someone that may be interested.

Hi there, have you had any diagnostics on your Agila. I wonder if maybe you need to get the EGR valve checked. My Astra throws up the EML when EGR is playing up.

Hi Mick, I did wonder about the hub on left front, as I have a feeling bearing is on its way out. Its the only wheel with a wire to it, as my car doesn't have abs fitted. I have had intermittent problems with the speedo since I first bought car, it would play catch up every so often. I will check with a multi meter, but I think it will be a new hub though. Thanks for your help.
