Front exhaust astra g.
Well it has been blowing from the flexi for quite a while. Bought new part, and after it turned up, we got a deluge of snow. Now the sun was out today, so up on ramps and swapped out old for new. Sounds a lot quieter now.

Bournemouth is quite a nice place with what I can remember. Not been since I was a teenager. I wonder if that's why the isle of wight is so called. As it blocks your snow. Stayed on the isle of wight 18 years ago. 😄

Timing belt
Hi there. Vauxhall recommend changing about every 60,000 or 10 years. So it could have been already changed. But if you don't have any service history, I would be tempted to get it changed in the near future. That way you know its been done, and then you can keep your own record of due dates for future replacement. Regards Andy. .

Astra Sri 60 plate (LEAK REAR FOOTWELL
Hi there, also as another suggestion. Is the rear window shut fully? My sister in law has a 16 plate Astra, and the dog catches the winder , and although it looks shut from inside, it's open enough to let water in when it rains heavy. Might be worth checking.

I've been going through old videos and DVD's, that was Pulp Fiction the other night, might do Lock, stock and 2 smoking barrels tonight. Once the kids have gone to bed....😁

Our last GOOD snow was the original beast from the east. Wasn't too bad this time, just annoying. It normally goes around us here in harling.

Gearbox oil change
Thanks Trevor, that is the plan for warmer weather. Just changing the oil has made a vast improvement. Shall see how weather goes this week, and set about exhaust. Regards Andy.

Astra G 2004 1.6 issues
I have astra g's for about 3 years. Last one was a manual, this ones auto. I haven't got an on board mpg calculator. I use one I found on Google. Terry Caskell mpg calculator. I'm getting about 38-45 mpg, depending on what trips I do. Since the lockdown, I've only been doing local trips, so I'm only doing about 30 miles a week. Whereas pre lockdown it was easily 200 miles a week. A good service wouldn't do any harm. Have a safe journey. Andy.

Yes I'm a happy bunny now. And now more confident at doing it again. 😄😄

Intermittent speedo.
Hi Trevor, no gaskets, I will buy them during the week and get some new studs and clamps too. I don't know if you're lucky not having snow or not. Had about ⁶ inches here so far, and it's still snowing now. Haven't been out in this car in snow yet, so could be interesting later when I take the daughter to work.

Gearbox oil change
Cheers Trevor, yes I did do this after coming back from the test run. Engine up to temp, and ran through the gears slowly. Level was spot on. And Saturday we did a round trip of about 60 miles, checked it when returned home, and it was perfect. Is there a filter in the box that can be changed, and if so where ? Andy.

Astra G 2004 1.6 issues
Hi chris, it could possibly be engine mount causing vibrating. With the poor idle and stalling, my old astra had this problem, but was only on the odd occasion. I'm trying to remember what I did, I think I gave it a service and ran some injection cleaner through too. As for the cigarette lighter problem, it sounds like you might have diagnosed the problem. I've not used a usb charge point in mine. Regards Andy.

Intermittent speedo.
Well the new exhaust is here, and so is the snow. Looks like a job for the future rather than the present. It's not blowing too bad, just enough to be annoying. Good old ebay, complete front section for £25.65 and free delivery. Slowly getting back to getting these jobs done. Lets hope snow don't hang around too long.

Astra G 2004 1.6 issues
Hi Chris, I t sounds like you are having quite an issue there. I have a 02 Astra G 1.6 auto. The only issues that the obd reader chucked up was to do with emissions, which i have been trying to cure. Mainly saying misfire on number 3. I have since found that it has a blow in the flexi part of exhaust, so i am hoping that was causing its tizzy fit. Could it still be the ecu giving you grief? It sounds like a trip to a dealer might be required to get those faults sorted. Regards Andy.

Gearbox oil change
Decided to bite the bullet and get it done. Weather is supposed to be getting bad the weekend, so as it was nice yesterday, I got on with it. Must admit that i was concerned about doing it. Checked levels this morning and all good. I did an engine oil and filter change whilst i was under there too. So more ticks on the list.

Gearbox oil change
Well I have finally got out and managed to do the oil change on my automatic box. Must admit I was very worried about doing it, as never done oil change on an auto before. All good, clean fresh ATF installed. The old oil was very black, and smelt like ordinary diff oil. I will try to post pics. Car is running smooth between gears again. Might give it a couple of months and do it again to get rid of all traces of old oil.

Intermittent speedo.
Update on the speedo problem. Had a sticky caliper on near side front. Took it all apart and cleaned everything up. Whilst wheel was off I checked all the wiring, including speedo drive from gearbox. I have a feeling there was a loose connection as I nipped all connectors and now it's working fine. That's that job jobbed.😃👍👍

Who's watching what?
😁👍 it will be done. Got to get new front exhaust pipe, so whilst it's in the air, I'll be getting it all done. Need to find my torque bits for the drain plug though. If the weather gets that bad, I'll find some wheeler dealer re-runs towatch.😛

Who's watching what?
Too many re runs of programmes on, so we've been decorating of an evening, and helping children with there school work during the day. Well the wife has done most of the school stuff.... I've been doing bits to the car. New rear brakes, trying to sort out that speedo problem, to no avail. Now got to do front pipe of exhaust, and the gear oil is on the cards for this wednesday come rain or shine.
