Hi Steve, welcome to the forum. There are a few videos on YouTube that show various ways of resetting your service light. It all depends on the year of your car, as to which way to do it. But they all involve twisting and turning the left-hand stalk on the column. There is one that shows it being reset using the controls on the steering wheel too. It would probably be an idea to watch them and see which is your car, and then play the video step by step whilst sitting in the car. I hope this is of help. Regards Andy.

It's about the only idea I could think of with having the same plug either side. The air sensor is one plug, and it's right in the middle of the bottom front bumper grille. Got a feeling I'm going to have to hard wire the fan to a manual switch. Would the coolant fan be the one on the inside of the engine bay? And the aircon fan the one on the front?

Well I've been servicing the car today and had a look about with the wiring. And I have found exactly the se plug behind the horns, swinging in the breeze. So I'm guessing they could be for driving lamps.

Cheers Trevor, I did wonder if the rad had been replaced. I will have a check around to see if there is somewhere it connects to. When it stops raining and blowing a gale. Andy.

Hi Grimesy, welcome to the forum. Have you tried following the wires back to see if there is any damage causing the failure in power? You have certainly had a variety of vauxhalls. Which model of viva did you have back in the 80's? I had a 2 door HB saloon. I've also had a 1990 Cavalier Sri back in 2004, and now I am on my second Astra G mk4. Regards Andy.

Astra Bertone Convertible roof problem
AndyR replied to Westcliff67's topic in Vauxhall Owners Lounge
I guess the sudden stop caused the engine mount to fail. Hopefully once the garage has done the mount you can get back to fiddling with that roof problem. Sun is due out soon. -
Hi Koolkuts, Welcome aboard. Does sound like a lot of problems you are facing. I am not up on diesel engines, but your temperature problem is very similar to my own, which is on my Astra G. I gave mine a good flush through of the cooling system, and put in fresh coolant. I also replaced the temp sensor too. Now the gauge reads correctly, but I have not had a cooling fan since I bought the car. I AM looking at fixing this problem. Hope this is helpful. Regards Andy.

Thank you. I'll give it a try at the weekend. I have a spare battery, so I'll be using that one. Save having any short circuit problems with the car. I know they work on a similar basis to a thermostat. I will let you know what happens. Andy.

The part number on the box does match others I've found online for my engine. Is there a way of testing it off the car?. When it was fitted, I did just over 50 miles, mainly duel carriage way, when I got home, and then tried to go out again later, it was still very hot to touch, and on removing the next day, it was stuck open. Andy.

Hi does anybody know if my Astra G z16xe should have a heat sensor in the radiator to inform the electric fan to kick in when the coolant gets hot in traffic. I have found a plug that comes from the loom beside the radiator, but there is no where to connect it. And my fan does not start at all in traffic. I have seen videos on YouTube showing that there is a choice of radiator fan switch's, and if you get the wrong one it will be constantly running. I just haven't got any fan switches at all. Regards Andy.

Sweet ride. You definitely got your money's worth there.

I'm going to have to Google antara. But I take it you liked the vectra. My first Vauxhall was a HB Viva back in 1985. I then had a g reg cavalier sri in 2004, and now only second Astra g .

Well I had the engine management light come on again, but this time it tells me that the egr valve is faulty. Well the car came with one in a box that looked new. So after fitting yesterday morning. Yesterday afternoon we had a trip up to norwich and back to pick up daughter from her college . Car was more responsive, and went really well. Until nearly home and it cut out. Pulled over and re started, and away we went. Got home, and then 1/2 hour later went to go out again, and although the car started, it just stalled as soon as Put in gear. So this morning I put old one back after a clean, and running fine again. So a New one is on order.

Well that's one way of doing a quick oil change. Good luck with the cabby roof. Hopefully the sun will shine over the summer. -
Astra Bertone Convertible roof problem

Hi Cliff, Did you manage to sort out the cabby roof problems? I see from previous posts that it was being a bit of a mare. Hope all has gone well. Regards Andy -
Here's hoping. I am now replacing parts that are wearing out due to age. Callipers, suspension parts. It is a great car though. Have you any pics of your GTC?

Welcome to the forum. Hope you are having happy motoring with your Zafira. What Vauxhalls have you had in the past?

Hi Crutch, I see you have the Astra H , are these plastic bungs on the Astra G as well? I have not had this problem yet, so a tip like this one is valuable knowledge to pass on to other owners. Regards Andy.

Hi Spaghetti. Welcome to the forum, it sounds like you have a lot of car for a reasonable price. It may be 10 years old, but serviced regularly it should last a few years yet. I have a 52 Astra G, which although has had 4 owners before myself, it was the same family, and any work needed was done. I am keeping up on servicing and general maintenance, and hopefully it will see me in good stead for some time to come. Regards Andy.

Well after travelling some 192 miles, and using about £20 worth of petrol. Checked the fuel economy with the online calculator. It has worked it out that I got 54.5mpg, and used 16 litres of fuel at a cost of £5.68 a gallon. It also worked out that it was costing me about 10.4p per mile. Now I can live with that sort of economy. I was so impressed, that the car got a birthday, cleaned and polished inside and out.

Hi Tony, and welcome to the forum. If you have any questions regarding your Zafira , feel free to post them on the forum page regarding anything vauxhall . There will bound to be someone that could offer assistance. Regards Andy.

Hi Chris, Yes I do like the Astra G, it's ideal for me and the family. The site I use for working out mpg is a basic calculator. All you do is fill in the boxes and hit calculate. All you need is how much a litre, how much you spent, and how many miles you've done. www.terrycassell.com How did you get on with your road trip? no problems I hope. Regards Andy.

Well I finally get to give the car a good run tomorrow, as daughter is back at college. I did get the engine light turned off, but it came back again after a short trip. Turns out that I need to have a chat with the EGR valve. This is going to get a clean out tomorrow after the college trip, and then I can see how it goes on the afternoon pick up. A good 50 mile round trip should hopefully sort it. I can also check if the mpg has improved.

And there are a lot of them about. And I have noticed that Vauxhall have used the same parts on other models too. The old motto of "Don't fix what ain't broken" comes to mind.
