Yes it does sound like the clutch is dragging and that is why it is hard to select when cold
-
Well time will tell if you have shifted the issue from one cylinder to another
Please keep us updated on how it pans out
-
Going from Xenon to Halogen may be a little difficult as the Xenon lights are self adjusting via suspension links and to fit standard headlights to adjust them for height may be a little difficult but probably not impossible.
Also, the Xenon Ballasts carry high voltages so wiring may be an issue -
Very useful guide to repairing what is probably quite a common gear selector wear issue.
Glad you got it sorted cheaply and better than the original set up -
Broken microswitches inside?
Not uncommon for some remote fobs for them to detach from the circuit board, especially if droppedCan be resoldered if you have steady hand

Well firstly it sounds like the earth electrode has been eroded away without leaving any material in the cylinders causing piston or valve damage
As long as the compression is okay then there is half a chance of rescuing the engine if little else has occurredI would scan the injectors to see what duration and pulse width they have to determine a faulty injector on that cylinder and replace if necessary
Once running then see how the spark plug fairs after a run and look at the colour of the electrodes on all cylinders for a comparison.

Has a compression check or leak down test been carried out to determine the extent of any engine damage?
-
Maybe need to see photo of both parts to see if it is interchangeable
-
I would search eBay as its usually a great source of used car parts
-
Not sure about the diagnosis unless they are referring to the driveshaft / differential support bearings but you would hear the gearbox whining loudly through all the gears if this was the case
Maybe a second diagnosis is needed?
-
Sounds like the linkage has dropped off the actuator
If you can release the trim on the inside of the boot lid area and see if the linkage can be reattached if this is the case
-
That does seem like a long time to stay on.
Do the sidelights stay on also ? -
First and foremost I would ask whether the diesel engine is suitable for the journeys you make?
If it is driven around town then you can expect several problems to occur.....EGR, DPF, Turbo, Injectors....all of which will clog up if not driven hard enoughI see you currently drive a Chevette....great little car from the day!

Sounds like it could be a sensor then, its common on a lot of other cars in the Vauxhall range

Hi Deano.....welcome to the Club!

There should be a fault code associated with the lamps.
Maybe worth taking it to an independent garage to scan the ECU for stored fault codes and go from there- 1

The weight of the oil (O or 5) is relative to the ambient temperature (e.g hot climate or cold climate)
More important is the specifications of the oil (ACEA, SAE, etc)
If in doubt buy the oil from the local dealership -
Maybe not been programmed into the cars settings
Usually done when brand new per customers request
Not sure if you can do this yourself so maybe worth looking through the handbook for instructions- 1
-
Go to the dealer to get the correct OE oil

There are a few images on a google search but this one may be easier to locate the sensor
Looks like number 13 to me (see image from link below)Image of sensor
