  1. Hi Andy...glad you resolved the issues with simple maintenance and nothing too drastic or expensive. Twin electrodes would not really make much of a difference compared to new single electrodes, just last longer thats all. Glad the oil was not washed down but sounds like it was old oil and struggling to circulate the engine....hence the oil pressure light. Now you can sit back and enjoy the Astra and probably a better MPG as well Cheers, Trevor
  2. Hi This does appear to be a common problem with the engine ECU not clearing stored processes and the method used to clear this is to remove the battery leads from terminals, flash them together for about 20 seconds, wait for about two minutes and reconnect. See if this works and if so, you may need to carry it out each time it stops starting
  3. It should have a timing belt I believe but a quick examination of the cover at the end of the engine will determine this (e.g. plastic for timing belt) http://replace-timing-belt.com/how-to-replace-timing-belt-on-vauxhallopel-combo-c-1-7-di_/
  4. Not a bad call with bypassing the air conditioning compressor....have done it before and was just a case of finding the correct size belt to work successfully without slipping or walking off. Do you find many Gloworms nowadays? Cannot remember the last time I saw one, but it was on a night manoeuvres with the Scouts so that was a lifetime ago.
  5. I'm sure it needs to be set up for this to occur in the first place. Does it mention how to enable bluetooth and how it goes into search mode for any nearby devices?
  6. Hi I would advise getting new tensioners and pulley along with any belts required as fitting secondhand ones will probably result in the same issue. It depends on whether you have air conditioning fitted and any other ancillary items which your main dealer can advise on what you will need....they would probably issue you with a fitment diagram as well. Let us know how you get on with it
  7. The original key would need to be in the vicinity of the of the ignition barrel for the immobiliser code to be read. Maybe tape it to the replacement key to test this theory
  8. That's annoying as you would have to buy a whole set to replace just the one. I don't imagine anyone would steal the one wheel if it didn't have a locking nut on it though
  9. Hi Andy I would carry out the oil change and see what it does afterwards. I imagine the oil has lost some of its viscosity (check the oil does not smell of petrol) Let us know how you get on with it Cheers, Trev
  10. Personal choice I suppose but would avoid any 'cheap' alloys as tend to crack easily
  11. Hi....welcome to the Forum Usually, there are parts available on eBay to make up your own system. Usual things like Samco style induction hose, AMM housing, cone filter, etc....worth a try and probably a lot cheaper as well
  12. Hi....welcome to the Forum To be fair, I'm not entirely sure what else will fit but it may be worth locating a secondhand replacement engine and replacing the timing chain assembly before fitting so that you know it will last more than 40k
  13. Hi....welcome to the Forum Good to have you onboard
  14. Should be secured at both ends by self tapping screws and also attached to a crossmember which should unbolt (from memory!)
  15. It sounds like it is not reading either the handbrake or park sensor switches so therefore is not releasing the key. Maybe worth trying to cycle it from park to drive and back again. Also, keep your foot on the brake pedal as well. Here is some more info I have found for this fault:
  16. Hi Alison....welcome to the Forum You can place an advert here for no cost if you would like to https://www.vauxhallownersclub.com/forums/forum/22-vauxhalls-for-sale/

  18. Hi Nathan.....welcome to the Forum Glad to hear you're contributing to keeping the old cars on the road....as you say, not many around now Good to have you onboard
  19. Hi Timmy Just done a bit of research and these guys can sort your problem very cheaply https://shop.intellilinkmods.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=51
  20. I would take the pipe to a pipe and hose repairer and they should be able to make one up for you at very little cost We have one in Dorset - Thread and Pipes who can make anything to get you out of a predicament
  21. Maybe someone needed one and helped themselves possibly
  22. Usually on the front bumper....have a look through the grill at the lower half (or even from underneath if the lower cover isn't hiding it) and you should see a connector attached to the inside of the bumper
  23. ah sorry....my mistake I have only ever seen leads hardwired to the base on other vehicle aerials but not sure on this one, sorry!
  24. Hi Dave...welcome back! Does sound like it could be a split in the washer line or become detached from a union as you suspect. Good to have you onboard Cheers, Trevor
  25. Hi .... welcome to the Forum Here is an image of the wiring kit and shows the adapter for the aerial
