Hi everyone, I thought I would introduce myself to you all as I think I have some interesting history with Vauxhall. Back in the late 1950/Early 1960 my father worked at the Vauxhall plant in Luton, not really sure what he did, but probably on the production line somewhere. My earliest recollection of the car he drove was a Bedford CA Dormobile, I don't know that much about it other than the Reg number of NEW641 and the memories of places we visited with this vehicle, believe me we did some miles in it. The next car he owned probably around 1966 was a truly fantastic car, The Vauxhall Cresta PA Estate reg number UPM70, what a lovely car that was. Next was the PC Cresta saloon, another work of art, then he purchased ( brand new) probably with staff discount a Viva Van, not quite sure what model HA or HB in white, as a second vehicle in the household, I do remember that he tought both my Mother and my eldest sister to drive in it. So as you can imagine there is a bit of Vauxhall in my blood, currently I own a VX220, and a Mavano van that has been converted to a Campervan and there have been many other Vauxhall's in-between, as well as some interesting history with a vauxhall dealer where I worked for a few years. Just a short taster of many years with Vauxhall, if anyone is interested send me a message and I'll get back to you. Thanks for reading this, all the best2 points

Hi PJL, we have the 2013 Meriva and expected Bluetooth but it is not present on our model. There is a 'Phone' option on the control module but, similarly, not Bluetooth device to connect to or option in the controls. I purchased the below USB/3.5mm dongle from Amazon for £12 and it works great. Plugs in low in the console towards the gearstick and plugs into the Aux 3.5mm jack. After pairing your phone once, just press the 'Aux' button to switch to your phone for music or calls. Hope this works for you. Thank you very much for all your correspondence, I checked for miles or Kilometres, you were correct it was Kilometers, went back to garage and said to them as they put kilometre reading in miles on the MOT, they reset it to miles and now are going to inform DVLA about the error, I also am going to write to DVLA as it's on my MOT I'd done 34000 miles more than I had, was convinced the odometer was faulty, what an idiot I feel, now back to miles now, Thank you so much for your help much appreciated.2 points

I received, with my new Vectra Estate in 2005, a pair of brand new front lower bumpers. As I no longer have the car, they're available to anyone who might be able to use them. I'm not looking for any money. We're in High Wycombe.1 point

Hi and delayed thanks. I did find something detailed stating that this was related to a diverted flat skin to what you mention along with a part number for this repair and it’s right hand drive number. However it describes unscrewing the inside plastic cover which doesn’t have screws on my car. So getting to this white plastic lever clicking area is beyond difficult. It’s not an MoT issue so can wait for expensive repair if we keep the vehicle. Dave1 point

Good afternoon, Is anybody interested in buying a Vauxhall Carlton GI 1987 mileage around 104,600 miles? The insurance wrote it off in 2000, but my husband restored it and drove it until 2024. It has had MOT and he looked after it. Kind regards, MB1 point

e albeit short distances. Any suggestions helpful. Yep I am wearing warm clothes. Dave hi again sorry to be out of touch and No it has not been sorted. The garage stated it was a diverter valve of some description and said it can be seen under the dashboard as a white plastic wheel turning. Passenger side , Somehow I eventually got a part number for this right hand drive version. However once they stated that the dashboard was to be removed.Problem NO screws to undo or guidance. Have now given up due to longstanding health problem. Dave1 point

Will do. Just waiting for the bearing to turn up. And then the fun will begin. Done the engine coolant flush yesterday, so that's another box ticked. I'm getting there slowly.1 point

This vehicle was purchased by me new in 1986. It had a new roof in 2023, new brake discs and pads 2023, a partial respray in 2016 and sundry remedial work 2024. It has approx. 58,000 miles on the clock. Can anyone please suggest a good selling site for this car. It has MOT until November 2025.1 point

From what I have heard, the rubber bushes are welded to the anti roll bar and are rarely the problem. The source of other peoples woes in this area have been down to suspension arm, drop link, or engine mount bush play or in one case greasing pivots did the trick, apparently. Hope this helps .1 point

Actually I’m still having the same issue with the spare key so think I’ll get it booked in somewhere to get looked at.1 point

I appreciate this is an old post, but: I have a 2023 1.6 auto, 72k miles. Wish I was getting anywhere near that consumption, I've owned it 14 years & have only managed 38mpg on long m/ way runs doing steady 60mph. Normal running about it's 33/ 35mpg. Compared to 1.4l 16v I had before (38/43.mpg) I didn't think it too excessive. I'm a fairly steady driver eg. I used to get 43/ 58 from my 1993 1.6l cavalier! (Wish I'd still got it: utterly reliable & almost faultless). What's your secret LOL?1 point

Hi MylieMc, I have just been looking online, and have found the meaning of your code. You only go by the first 4 numbers, so yours is 1010. 1 = MFG Manufacture Specific. 0 =Fuel and Air Metering. 1 = Low Coolant Circuit 0 = Transmission Engaged at High Throttle Angle. It also states that P1010 is Foot Throttle Signal is Out of Range, IVS not changing. Reading on, it is suggesting to check throttle connections are fully connected. Or that the pins might need cleaning. Which could also cause a short . Might be worth checking all the wiring to throttle pedal, and any other wiring connections nearby. Hope this is of help. Keep us informed of how you get on with sorting it. Regards Andy.1 point

Glad you managed to sort the running issue Andy As for the sensor I would leave it alone if its running fine and just reconnect the plug. The other component, I'm not exactly sure what it is but more than likely emissions related. Again, if the vehicle is running fine then I would be more tempted to leave it be1 point

Just to write a conclusion to this. It was apparent to me, if not the local Vx dealer, that the thermostat had failed in the open position, this was confirmed by a local garage recommended to me. He replaced the thermostat and housing unit at a cost of about £340 of which the thermostat was £135 (( a complex bit of kit) and coolant about £20 plus a couple of hours labour and I was well pleased. Coolant temperature back to a steady 90deg and decent heating. Why these modern engines are so complicated beats me, on my 40 year old Porsche a replacement thermostat is about £15 and it's about an hours work for me to replace it. The price of progress!!! Answering my own question, just incase anyone else is considering the Armster 2 or S. I took the plunge and ordered the Armster 2 from Amazon. Quite pricy at £112 (seen it at £91 elsewhere, but wanted to be able to return if fit wasn't good) but good quality and good features. Unfortunately it isn't a good fit; you would have to be a contortionist to be able to use the handbrake whilst the armrest was down (the handbrake actually touches the bottom of the armrest when pulled up). When armrest is in up position it wasn't far enough back to be out of the way - but may be ok if you have shorter legs! Sent back to Amazon next morning for full refund. Will plod-on with the standard armrest.1 point

Hi Everyone. After many years of having Mondeo Titanium X's I have bought my first ever Vauxhall. It's a 2017 Insignia B Elite Estate 2 Litre Turbo Diesel Bluemotion. It has lots of Elite extras, even Heated Rear seats but no Heated screen or steering wheel. Not much I can do about the windscreen but I was wondering how easy/difficult it would be to Retro fit a heated steering wheel. Being the model it is, would the wiring in the looms already be in situ. What would I need to buy in addition to a new steering wheel. Thank you in advance for any advice.1 point

hi everybody, this sundays meeting was a local club the stratford and henly in arden meet. the rain was attrocious, really hammering down which really put the moccas on everything. mind you, i never used the wipers before, not sure if they worked but they were really good. being driven off the camshaft the faster i went the faster the wipers went, unlike the early ford vacuum set up!! also it was a real good test for the roof and not a drop leaked in but the misting up was a problem solved by having the quarter lights open, remember them!!!1 point

Hi there ThomasShore. Just done some google checking, and code 68 seems to relate to the power steering, as it is electric. People are also saying that a low charge in the battery can also bring up this code, Mainly due to the steering drawing a lot of power. Have you had the battery checked to see if its holding charge? Regards Andy.1 point

This is my cavalier. My Dad bought it nearly new in '95 and it has been sat since around 2004. It will need a lot of work to become roadworthy, as it is quite rusty and will need servicing. It is a '93 LS 1.7D (Non turbo Opel engine, If I remember rightly it has the lucas fuel pump). The engine runs well but needs a service. It is going to be quite challenging to get it roadworthy again but it is a nice, reliable car so it will be worth it in the end. VID_20230225_155206.mp41 point
