Hello VOC, I've just signed up to the forum as I presently own a 2007 Vectra C 1.8 vvt SRi having bought it in Nov 22 with 61,000 miles on the clock. This is my first Vectra but I'm by no means new to Vauxhall having owned the following - Astra Mk2 1.8 GTE and 2.0 16v GTE. Cavalier Mk2 1.8 CDi 5 door,1.8 SRi 4 door,2.0 SRi 4 door,2.0 SRi130 5 door and Calibre. Cavalier MK3 2 x 1.6GL 5 door,1.6LS 4 door ,1.8LS 5 door,2.0 SRi 5 door,2 x GSi2000,SRi16v Redtop 4 door,SRi16v Ecotec 5 door. The majority of the above I modified some mildly and others extensively. As for me I live in Scotland and drive HGVs for living. In my mid 40s apart from a huge passion for cars, owning and driving but as much modifying and rebuilding (Not just Vauxhall but Fords from the late 60s to early 90s OR in other words pre Mondeo,Escorts up to and inc MK3s,especially mk3 in fact,MKi Fiestas, all Capris,Cortinas and Sierras. In fact,I've a large history of Ford ownership too) but I also have played guitar for a long time, love history and much more. Bob3 points

Hi everyone, I thought I would introduce myself to you all as I think I have some interesting history with Vauxhall. Back in the late 1950/Early 1960 my father worked at the Vauxhall plant in Luton, not really sure what he did, but probably on the production line somewhere. My earliest recollection of the car he drove was a Bedford CA Dormobile, I don't know that much about it other than the Reg number of NEW641 and the memories of places we visited with this vehicle, believe me we did some miles in it. The next car he owned probably around 1966 was a truly fantastic car, The Vauxhall Cresta PA Estate reg number UPM70, what a lovely car that was. Next was the PC Cresta saloon, another work of art, then he purchased ( brand new) probably with staff discount a Viva Van, not quite sure what model HA or HB in white, as a second vehicle in the household, I do remember that he tought both my Mother and my eldest sister to drive in it. So as you can imagine there is a bit of Vauxhall in my blood, currently I own a VX220, and a Mavano van that has been converted to a Campervan and there have been many other Vauxhall's in-between, as well as some interesting history with a vauxhall dealer where I worked for a few years. Just a short taster of many years with Vauxhall, if anyone is interested send me a message and I'll get back to you. Thanks for reading this, all the best2 points

Hi PJL, we have the 2013 Meriva and expected Bluetooth but it is not present on our model. There is a 'Phone' option on the control module but, similarly, not Bluetooth device to connect to or option in the controls. I purchased the below USB/3.5mm dongle from Amazon for £12 and it works great. Plugs in low in the console towards the gearstick and plugs into the Aux 3.5mm jack. After pairing your phone once, just press the 'Aux' button to switch to your phone for music or calls. Hope this works for you. Thank you very much for all your correspondence, I checked for miles or Kilometres, you were correct it was Kilometers, went back to garage and said to them as they put kilometre reading in miles on the MOT, they reset it to miles and now are going to inform DVLA about the error, I also am going to write to DVLA as it's on my MOT I'd done 34000 miles more than I had, was convinced the odometer was faulty, what an idiot I feel, now back to miles now, Thank you so much for your help much appreciated.2 points

Just a quick hello. I used to be a member of this forum years ago when I had an Omega Elite. The interaction there was great, I did all the work on the car myself and there were loads of guys that really knew their stuff. I'm hoping there will be some people who know lots about the Insignia VXR as I've got some issues to fix and there is not very much technical documentation on the internet, or to buy for that matter!2 points

Will do. Just waiting for the bearing to turn up. And then the fun will begin. Done the engine coolant flush yesterday, so that's another box ticked. I'm getting there slowly.1 point

That's for accepting me to the club. Just brought a insignia ecoflex 2.0 cdti 2015, as a quick replacement as my honda as it lost compression on No2 cylinder and would cost too much to fix after 15 years I had it. I have had several corsa in the past for my boys but that was several year's ago now. I do nearly all my own maintenance and repairs. I have a good set of garage tools and a good engineering workshop to support all my activities including making or repairing tools. I'm pretty adapt at sorting electrical problems as well. This was one of the last Omegas to be made and has the highest spec of the range. Vauxhall threw everything at it: full leather upholstery, full electric kit including heated seats front and rear, electricly adjustable front seats, Bose sound system, sunroof, 5 alloy wheels, towbar, etc. etc. The bodywork is showing its age, parts are hard to find and, for me, it's uneconomical to keep it as my only vehicle. I'd prefer to see it broken for parts rather then crushed so if you're interested please get in touch. It has an MoT until December '25 so you could come to Sheffield and drive it away! I'm open to offers above scrap value. Richard1 point

Hi....welcome to the Club Glad to see that you have resolved the numerous issues and positive outcome1 point

So, that was easier than I was expecting. New Cam Cover arrived this morning, fitted it, ran it, checked/cleared Fault Codes, all sorted. It had also failed for the Stabilitrak Warning Message and Light. Removed the front ABS Sensors, R/H one had a bit of Brake Dust on it, cleaned both. Poked a thin strip of Solvent-soaked Cloth down the holes and spun the Hub to try and clean the Sensor Ring. That fault cleared and didn't come back, happy days. Took it down for the retest, passed.1 point

From what I have heard, the rubber bushes are welded to the anti roll bar and are rarely the problem. The source of other peoples woes in this area have been down to suspension arm, drop link, or engine mount bush play or in one case greasing pivots did the trick, apparently. Hope this helps .1 point

Have had this issue and Andy is right, it's a known problem but an easy...ish fix. You have to remove all the upper trim on the inside of the boot lid to allow access to the switch which sits inside of the external chrome strip. Water gets in from the seal of that strip and corrodes some of the wiring loom. If you feel competent enough, you can repair the loom but sometimes it is the actual switch. A new loom with the switch isn't expensive, but be careful when ordering, the hatchback version won't fit, I had to butcher that one! I added a waterproof tape to the upper side of the switch when installing again and put more sealant around the chrome strip too, hopefully stops future leaks. Good Luck.1 point

I just take it steady, and let the old girl build up speed steadily, rather than caning it. She'll plod along quite happily at 60/65mph, and around my local roads I'll average a max of about 50mph, as it's all country lanes and full of farm vehicles. But when I do get out on main roads then I will 65-70. Always a smooth build up.1 point

I appreciate this is an old post, but: I have a 2023 1.6 auto, 72k miles. Wish I was getting anywhere near that consumption, I've owned it 14 years & have only managed 38mpg on long m/ way runs doing steady 60mph. Normal running about it's 33/ 35mpg. Compared to 1.4l 16v I had before (38/43.mpg) I didn't think it too excessive. I'm a fairly steady driver eg. I used to get 43/ 58 from my 1993 1.6l cavalier! (Wish I'd still got it: utterly reliable & almost faultless). What's your secret LOL?1 point

That is a fine example you have there. You don't see many Omega's about, especially the estate models. Well done for having such a glorious beast.1 point

hi everybody, today, sunday, the meeting was the wings and wheels at bidford on avon glider club. a very flat acreage stretching into the distance. it was blustery, not raining, but very chilly in that wind. a lot of cars turned up and among them three yes three vauxhalls, so good to see. when you go to these meetings there are many interesring and beautiful marques to admire and that is what i like about them. what is the likelyhood of the dx alongside that 220, marvellous!! best regards keith1 point

Hi there ThomasShore. Just done some google checking, and code 68 seems to relate to the power steering, as it is electric. People are also saying that a low charge in the battery can also bring up this code, Mainly due to the steering drawing a lot of power. Have you had the battery checked to see if its holding charge? Regards Andy.1 point

Awh never thought about that, that would certainly makes sense, I thought it was miles it might well be kms, I will get my son to check that out tomorrow as car in lock up for the night. It that's so I might have to inform DVLA as the garage has miles on the MOT. Thank you very much for that I appreciate this information.1 point
