  3. Hi everyone, I thought I would introduce myself to you all as I think I have some interesting history with Vauxhall. Back in the late 1950/Early 1960 my father worked at the Vauxhall plant in Luton, not really sure what he did, but probably on the production line somewhere. My earliest recollection of the car he drove was a Bedford CA Dormobile, I don't know that much about it other than the Reg number of NEW641 and the memories of places we visited with this vehicle, believe me we did some miles in it. The next car he owned probably around 1966 was a truly fantastic car, The Vauxhall Cresta PA Estate reg number UPM70, what a lovely car that was. Next was the PC Cresta saloon, another work of art, then he purchased ( brand new) probably with staff discount a Viva Van, not quite sure what model HA or HB in white, as a second vehicle in the household, I do remember that he tought both my Mother and my eldest sister to drive in it. So as you can imagine there is a bit of Vauxhall in my blood, currently I own a VX220, and a Mavano van that has been converted to a Campervan and there have been many other Vauxhall's in-between, as well as some interesting history with a vauxhall dealer where I worked for a few years. Just a short taster of many years with Vauxhall, if anyone is interested send me a message and I'll get back to you. Thanks for reading this, all the best

  8. Up date on issue took a look at it and belt was off, puzzled really if belt was off how is I could drive car with message on dash, so refitted belt and the message as gone so I tested the battery (engine off) was reading 11.35 (engine on) reading 14.56 so took it for drive tonight no message back and belt still on strange, but still have a loss of power in car but this just may be down to the intercooler pipe as I may have a split in it some where as engine makes a whistling sound when accelerating would I be right there

  12. Finally got to Halfords... They have an 'ISO Harness CT20VX04' for aftermarket radio in a 05-10 Meriva. It will take power as per the factory fitted radio. It does not connect to the steering wheel controls. Costs £25. As commented in the original post I already have an aftermarket radio and the steering wheel controls operate the radio. Halfords person suggested splicing the current red power cable to one that provides power to the fuse/cable that runs the windows, sunroofs and wing mirrors. Could not see any issue with a further 5amp load on the fuse. That is the route I had in mind but had concerns about the 'Body Control Module'. Seems the concerns are unfounded. One day I will get to play around with the wires in the car :0) Thank you for your input.

  13. Yeh know what you mean, I ran Super Unleaded in my motorbikes and didn't make any difference to performance, etc. However, the Z3 (which is 25 years old now) and is in standard engine specs used to have a flat spot from about 1500 - 2500 rpm but as soon as I put the good stuff in it resolved that issue....If only I had know years ago as just put up with the running issue for so long.

  14. Thanks Andy for sharing the detailed report as it would be useful for anyone else who is experiencing the same issues. I don't think it does any harm to internally clean some components due to carbon build up and degrading seals and gaskets. I think we are yet to see how the increased Ethanol in fuel will affect the older vehicles particularly when it comes to seals and gaskets - only time will tell. Look forward to the updated reports

  15. Hi I had the same problem and it was a total nightmare to sort. I had to buy a certain type of manufactures USB memory stick. Had to download load the updates about 20 time before it was recognised by the car. Got there in the end and won't be updating it again lol

  19. Hi all new member I have a growing concern regarding this wet belt scenario I feel that it is time extreme pressure in some way should be applied to Vauxhall and other manufacturers to get rid of this wet belt whoever thought that this was a good idea I know other manufacturers use it as well as we will find out soon the cars for example bought on PCP of which more and more drivers seem to be going down that road will on average trade in after 4/5 years which means a lot of people buying second are going to experience this wet belt due for replacement not knowing this and continuing driving it with problems arising the average cost of replacing a wet belt is £1000 + where as a timing belt was on average £200 plus there a very few garages willing to tackle the wet belt replacement because of the amount of work on it I think vauxhall should either consider converting back to the timing belt or replace the existing cars with a chain that won’t deteriorate I think it is shocking that the motoring industry thought this was a good idea very poor show VAUXHALL & others Kenny L

  21. Just bought a 2007 Tigra to do auto testing in for a bit of a laugh. I was aware of the roof not opening along with the boot as well on purchase hence why the car was cheap. Rest of the car is in really good working order. The car does it's standard faulty beeping noise when first taking off which isn't a issue on a long journey but during an auto test when you stop and start alot it's becoming a tad annoying Not bothered about roof ever going down but was wondering if simple removal of certain fuse will at least stop the constant beeping when I'm competing. Any advice would be appreciated.

  22. Finally managed to get my dash working again. I found a reset method which has cured the problem. It's called disconnection of the battery for 15 minutes. I decided to remove the after market wiring for the electric fan, and whilst doing this I needed to disconnect the live terminal. And once I had done, and all was back together. The dash was working again, and has been ever since. And I am no longer getting a static shock every time I get out of the car. Which is a win win in my book.

  30. So, that was easier than I was expecting. New Cam Cover arrived this morning, fitted it, ran it, checked/cleared Fault Codes, all sorted. It had also failed for the Stabilitrak Warning Message and Light. Removed the front ABS Sensors, R/H one had a bit of Brake Dust on it, cleaned both. Poked a thin strip of Solvent-soaked Cloth down the holes and spun the Hub to try and clean the Sensor Ring. That fault cleared and didn't come back, happy days. Took it down for the retest, passed.

  31. Hello everyone, I am seeking a source of SRi seat fabric to replace the square on the driver seat cushion. I am unsure of the name of the fabric but it is the grey with the wide diagonal pin stripe. I have tried finding replica fabric but not having any joy. Keeping a close eye out for donor parts, but I am wondering if anybody has a small supply of this fabric? Thank you for your help. Dan G

  32. HI all, We've had this for months, same sequence of errors and beeps. Someone (on here) recommended battery change as a possibility. We asked the bloke at Whitstable Halfords to check it for us. He used some gadget called a GS-Yuasa, set the stated amps of the resident battery (720mh) and asked it for the batteries condition....6%. Paid the (could not believe it) price of over £200 for NEW 800mh battery (fitted) and wayhay!! no beeps, no lights, no earache from certain others that use the car! Basically, it worked for us. Good luck.

  33. I have owned my very faithful Omega CDX 2.6 V6 automatic for sixteen years and my cousin for three years before. Unfortunately a suspected oil pump failure has resulted in a suspected big end knock. Before I send it to scrap yard heaven, does anyone know of any specialists Omega breakers who might be interested in salvaging parts for the few that are still out there on the road or in a collectors garage? She had quite a few new parts fitted in the last year and has five full size alloy wheels, two with new tyres a couple of weeks ago and two with new tyres last year, around 2000 miles wear. She would need picking up from Alton, Hampshire. I have been offered just under £300.00 for scrap so would be looking for offers of at least that, but I would rather see her recycled for spare parts. Please contact me for further details 07970496616. Frank Norris.

  35. HI, I never found the root problem but from what i leaent it seems likely that is was the design of the clutch pedal and spring. Short of dismantling the pedal assembly i opted to replace the spring. As there were several you tube videos on how to do this it seemed to be the best option and ive had no problems since.

  37. Anyone had problems with engine coolant temperature struggling to get of the bottom of the gauge? In normal running around town the pointer stays resolutely on the bottom stop, only after about a 12/15 mile drive does it eventually approach the 90deg mark. As a result the cabin heater is pretty inneffective. A reasonably informed guess by me (a lifetime classic car owner) suggests a thermostat fail, which on my classics is a £10 and hours job. A search on line seems to indicate that the Crossland thermostat is a comprehensive assemblage at around £120. and as far as I can tell is hidden under the inlet manifold, so much for progress! Booked to go into the local stealers next week, not looking forward to the eventual bill, unless anyone has some helpful suggestions.

  39. Glad you managed to sort the running issue Andy As for the sensor I would leave it alone if its running fine and just reconnect the plug. The other component, I'm not exactly sure what it is but more than likely emissions related. Again, if the vehicle is running fine then I would be more tempted to leave it be

  40. Hi everyone I have ordered a new 2024 facelift corsa and should be collecting any week now before Christmas and need a bit of help. I saw on sone other owner forums that people had issues with thier 23-24 plate facelift Corsa and Astras missing the ultimate badging and sills. It does state in Corsa brochure 130bp models only which is the model I ordered so I should have them. Has anyone else had the same issue as I don't know what they even look like so I cant see what I'm looking for if I need to ask the dealers if they are missing when I collect it. I can't even see anything on the review videos of 130bp model I have watched so will I actually get some kind of limited addition badging as the 130bp engine option isn't on their latest brochure stating effective Dec 3rd 24-25 only the 100bp options!? Does this also mean they have stopped to manufacture the 130np petrol engine option and therefore will be a rare car if this is the case? Plz help Regards Aaron

  41. Bit late in replying, but if you are still after a replacement auto gear shift lever then contact a Jocko Murchie on Facebook. I know that he has one available and that quality will be good and he can be trusted as I have bought stuff from him before.

  42. Just to write a conclusion to this. It was apparent to me, if not the local Vx dealer, that the thermostat had failed in the open position, this was confirmed by a local garage recommended to me. He replaced the thermostat and housing unit at a cost of about £340 of which the thermostat was £135 (( a complex bit of kit) and coolant about £20 plus a couple of hours labour and I was well pleased. Coolant temperature back to a steady 90deg and decent heating. Why these modern engines are so complicated beats me, on my 40 year old Porsche a replacement thermostat is about £15 and it's about an hours work for me to replace it. The price of progress!!! I

  45. I have the remains of a complete Vauxhall 14J Front axle assembly (that was previously part of a motorcycle trailer) that has been sitting in my garden for years that could be a source of spares for this unusual suspension set-up. Before I cut it up for scrap, would anyone like to come and collect it (free) from Bath? Email me by the 21st of Nov 24 if interested. p.strawbridge@btopenworld.com
