Hello VOC, I've just signed up to the forum as I presently own a 2007 Vectra C 1.8 vvt SRi having bought it in Nov 22 with 61,000 miles on the clock. This is my first Vectra but I'm by no means new to Vauxhall having owned the following - Astra Mk2 1.8 GTE and 2.0 16v GTE. Cavalier Mk2 1.8 CDi 5 door,1.8 SRi 4 door,2.0 SRi 4 door,2.0 SRi130 5 door and Calibre. Cavalier MK3 2 x 1.6GL 5 door,1.6LS 4 door ,1.8LS 5 door,2.0 SRi 5 door,2 x GSi2000,SRi16v Redtop 4 door,SRi16v Ecotec 5 door. The majority of the above I modified some mildly and others extensively. As for me I live in Scotland and drive HGVs for living. In my mid 40s apart from a huge passion for cars, owning and driving but as much modifying and rebuilding (Not just Vauxhall but Fords from the late 60s to early 90s OR in other words pre Mondeo,Escorts up to and inc MK3s,especially mk3 in fact,MKi Fiestas, all Capris,Cortinas and Sierras. In fact,I've a large history of Ford ownership too) but I also have played guitar for a long time, love history and much more. Bob3 points

Hi everyone, I thought I would introduce myself to you all as I think I have some interesting history with Vauxhall. Back in the late 1950/Early 1960 my father worked at the Vauxhall plant in Luton, not really sure what he did, but probably on the production line somewhere. My earliest recollection of the car he drove was a Bedford CA Dormobile, I don't know that much about it other than the Reg number of NEW641 and the memories of places we visited with this vehicle, believe me we did some miles in it. The next car he owned probably around 1966 was a truly fantastic car, The Vauxhall Cresta PA Estate reg number UPM70, what a lovely car that was. Next was the PC Cresta saloon, another work of art, then he purchased ( brand new) probably with staff discount a Viva Van, not quite sure what model HA or HB in white, as a second vehicle in the household, I do remember that he tought both my Mother and my eldest sister to drive in it. So as you can imagine there is a bit of Vauxhall in my blood, currently I own a VX220, and a Mavano van that has been converted to a Campervan and there have been many other Vauxhall's in-between, as well as some interesting history with a vauxhall dealer where I worked for a few years. Just a short taster of many years with Vauxhall, if anyone is interested send me a message and I'll get back to you. Thanks for reading this, all the best2 points

Hi PJL, we have the 2013 Meriva and expected Bluetooth but it is not present on our model. There is a 'Phone' option on the control module but, similarly, not Bluetooth device to connect to or option in the controls. I purchased the below USB/3.5mm dongle from Amazon for £12 and it works great. Plugs in low in the console towards the gearstick and plugs into the Aux 3.5mm jack. After pairing your phone once, just press the 'Aux' button to switch to your phone for music or calls. Hope this works for you. Thank you very much for all your correspondence, I checked for miles or Kilometres, you were correct it was Kilometers, went back to garage and said to them as they put kilometre reading in miles on the MOT, they reset it to miles and now are going to inform DVLA about the error, I also am going to write to DVLA as it's on my MOT I'd done 34000 miles more than I had, was convinced the odometer was faulty, what an idiot I feel, now back to miles now, Thank you so much for your help much appreciated.2 points

Just bought a 2007 Tigra to do auto testing in for a bit of a laugh. I was aware of the roof not opening along with the boot as well on purchase hence why the car was cheap. Rest of the car is in really good working order. The car does it's standard faulty beeping noise when first taking off which isn't a issue on a long journey but during an auto test when you stop and start alot it's becoming a tad annoying Not bothered about roof ever going down but was wondering if simple removal of certain fuse will at least stop the constant beeping when I'm competing. Any advice would be appreciated.1 point

Good afternoon, Is anybody interested in buying a Vauxhall Carlton GI 1987 mileage around 104,600 miles? The insurance wrote it off in 2000, but my husband restored it and drove it until 2024. It has had MOT and he looked after it. Kind regards, MB1 point

Hello everyone. Well my astra passed mot today. Only problem was that when the garage backed it out at the end of the test. The speedo cluster has stopped working again. So later I'm going to pull it apart again to see what's occurring.1 point

I have now in my possession a 1996 Vauxhall Astra 1.4 Montana in green with 154,000 on the clock. I think it’s now had 3 owners as I had to put it into my name for SORN. My father owned the car for years and it was always garaged so it’s in very good condition but the engine even though it gleams does smoke a small amount. I would love to have any feedback on potential buyers.1 point

e albeit short distances. Any suggestions helpful. Yep I am wearing warm clothes. Dave hi again sorry to be out of touch and No it has not been sorted. The garage stated it was a diverter valve of some description and said it can be seen under the dashboard as a white plastic wheel turning. Passenger side , Somehow I eventually got a part number for this right hand drive version. However once they stated that the dashboard was to be removed.Problem NO screws to undo or guidance. Have now given up due to longstanding health problem. Dave1 point

I appreciate this is an old post, but: I have a 2023 1.6 auto, 72k miles. Wish I was getting anywhere near that consumption, I've owned it 14 years & have only managed 38mpg on long m/ way runs doing steady 60mph. Normal running about it's 33/ 35mpg. Compared to 1.4l 16v I had before (38/43.mpg) I didn't think it too excessive. I'm a fairly steady driver eg. I used to get 43/ 58 from my 1993 1.6l cavalier! (Wish I'd still got it: utterly reliable & almost faultless). What's your secret LOL?1 point

Hi there Richard. To manually open your boot, you need to climb in from the rear seats. Once you get in to the luggage area you need to look for a small hole near to the latch. By inserting a screwdriver into the hole, you can then release the boot. Apparently this is a common fault, and the release button will need to be replaced. I did a google search, and it came up with a couple of videos on YouTube that show you how to do all that I have described. Hope this helps, and you get it all sorted. Regards Andy1 point

That is a fine example you have there. You don't see many Omega's about, especially the estate models. Well done for having such a glorious beast.1 point

Hi Everyone. After many years of having Mondeo Titanium X's I have bought my first ever Vauxhall. It's a 2017 Insignia B Elite Estate 2 Litre Turbo Diesel Bluemotion. It has lots of Elite extras, even Heated Rear seats but no Heated screen or steering wheel. Not much I can do about the windscreen but I was wondering how easy/difficult it would be to Retro fit a heated steering wheel. Being the model it is, would the wiring in the looms already be in situ. What would I need to buy in addition to a new steering wheel. Thank you in advance for any advice.1 point

hi everybody, this sundays meeting was a local club the stratford and henly in arden meet. the rain was attrocious, really hammering down which really put the moccas on everything. mind you, i never used the wipers before, not sure if they worked but they were really good. being driven off the camshaft the faster i went the faster the wipers went, unlike the early ford vacuum set up!! also it was a real good test for the roof and not a drop leaked in but the misting up was a problem solved by having the quarter lights open, remember them!!!1 point

Hi there ThomasShore. Just done some google checking, and code 68 seems to relate to the power steering, as it is electric. People are also saying that a low charge in the battery can also bring up this code, Mainly due to the steering drawing a lot of power. Have you had the battery checked to see if its holding charge? Regards Andy.1 point

Awh never thought about that, that would certainly makes sense, I thought it was miles it might well be kms, I will get my son to check that out tomorrow as car in lock up for the night. It that's so I might have to inform DVLA as the garage has miles on the MOT. Thank you very much for that I appreciate this information.1 point

Thats completely unacceptable.....an old school mechanic can measure resistance of sensors to further confirm that a sensor is defective. Sometimes, just contamination in a sensor connection or even damage to the reluctor ring (if seperate - e.g. not part of the wheel bearing) can cause fault codes and replacing the sensor is meaningless. I would take the car to a good 'old school' independent garage who can diagnose the fault correctly1 point

Hi there, glad you could join us. Sharing knowledge is always a good thing, I try to help out if i can, but sometimes if I'm not sure, I'll leave it to those that do know. I am more an Astra mk4 person.1 point

Might not be a bad idea that. And get prescription sunglasses, that way I can see in the sunshine, when it comes back.1 point

The engine has a timing chain, which could be the source of the rattle. If the engine has done high miles then it could be worn. Alternatively, keep doing oil and filter changes (more frequently than normal) to ensure fresh oil is getting to (and staying) in right places. You could try something like Slick50 if it is still available to buy to ensure the tensioner and chain is lubricated at all times. Good quality oil of the correct grade and specs (e.g. API spec) and an Original Equipment (OE) specification filter is used as this will make a difference1 point

Vauxhall Omega/Carlton/Senator Mk2 full service manual on microfiche (1990) These microfiches contain the full workshop service instructions for the Vauxhall Omega, Carlton and Senator models. My late father got them when he owned a Mk 2 Carlton in 1990. Rather than just chuck them I thought I'd check to see if anyone could make good use of them... an invaluable resource if you're embarking on a restoration project or just trying to keep one on the road! The microfiches are marked "06/90" (presumably June 1990) and "2nd Revised Edition". They were bought with an H-reg vehicle so that aligns perfectly. The document identifier seems to be TSD-1506/2-GB and the "article number" is 93109. There are five microfiches in total. All are in excellent condition (they were only ever used in a DIY context and never in a commercial garage) and are still in the original Opel branded envelope. The five microfiches contain: I Sections A to H II Section J (OHC petrol & CIH petrol engines) III Section J (DOHC petrol and OHC diesel engines) IV Section K V Sections L to R The section headings are: A Maintenance, body and chassis sheet metal parts B Paint C Body equipment D Heating, ventilation and air conditioning E Frame, front wheel suspension, wheels and tyres F Rear axle and rear wheel suspension [G is omitted] H Brakes [I is omitted] J Engine and engine aggregates K Clutch and transmission L Fuel and exhaust system M Steering N Electrical equipment and instruments [O to Q are omitted] R Optional equipment and accessories Microfiche readers are readily available at relatively low cost on eBay and there seem to be people that offer a microfiche-to-PDF transcription service as well. Drop me a message if they're of interest to you...1 point
