Hi everyone, I thought I would introduce myself to you all as I think I have some interesting history with Vauxhall. Back in the late 1950/Early 1960 my father worked at the Vauxhall plant in Luton, not really sure what he did, but probably on the production line somewhere. My earliest recollection of the car he drove was a Bedford CA Dormobile, I don't know that much about it other than the Reg number of NEW641 and the memories of places we visited with this vehicle, believe me we did some miles in it. The next car he owned probably around 1966 was a truly fantastic car, The Vauxhall Cresta PA Estate reg number UPM70, what a lovely car that was. Next was the PC Cresta saloon, another work of art, then he purchased ( brand new) probably with staff discount a Viva Van, not quite sure what model HA or HB in white, as a second vehicle in the household, I do remember that he tought both my Mother and my eldest sister to drive in it. So as you can imagine there is a bit of Vauxhall in my blood, currently I own a VX220, and a Mavano van that has been converted to a Campervan and there have been many other Vauxhall's in-between, as well as some interesting history with a vauxhall dealer where I worked for a few years. Hi AndyR Just had the same issue if no noise coming from water pump it sounds good check your thermostat just changed mine and it gets up to temp a lot quicker and sits nicely between 88⁰-92⁰ hope this helps all the best.

Hi everyone, I'm just wondering what fuel people are using on their Puretech engines: Esso or Shell. Or can we cheat and go with E10 supermarket fuel? Obviously I want the fuel which provides me with the best mpg possible.

I can't see the sensor as such but the position is bang on so maybe it is. Worth putting the scanner on the car and see what the live readings are for the ambient air temperature sensor - you'll soon see if it is out of range

Hey everyone 👋 I’m new to the group and also new to the whole car-modding scene. I drive an Opel Astra H GTC 125, and I’ve recently started developing a real passion for modifying it and making it look neat. So far, I’ve done a good cleanup, repainted the car, and even painted the brake calipers. Basically, it’s now at a perfect ground zero for me to start adding mods. I’d love to hear your suggestions on where a beginner like me should start. A few things about what I’m aiming for: I’d prefer to do most of the work myself and keep learning along the way. I don’t want to mess too much with electrical components. I’m more interested in exterior mods and some light engine or exhaust changes. I’m on a budget, since I’m still figuring out what I like most. I’m currently looking at adding a fin and roof bars. 👉 One thing I’m especially curious about: exhaust mods. I’d love my Astra to have a deeper, more aggressive roar. Can I realistically do an exhaust change myself as a beginner, or is it better to get it done by a pro? What exhaust tips or setups would you recommend for a nice roar without going overboard? What have you done to your own cars—any DIY exhaust mods that worked well? The car is my daily driver (work commute + weekend adventures), so I don’t want to go too extreme, just tasteful and practical. Thanks in advance, really looking forward to learning from you all!

Hi Taylor - welcome to the forum Modding cars is as you have already said is down to having a budget and also and most importantly, how you want it to look. Subtle mods are sometimes better than completely changing the look too much which can appear overwhelming to the eye. Bear in mind anything you do to the vehicle can affect the insurance, hence subtle body mods are better than changing engine and exhaust components. Also, tends to attract the attention of the local constabulary. Feel free to post up some pics of the car as it is and I'm sure other members can add their comments

Sat and worked out mpg for the trip to the coast the other day. And I can honestly say that I'm impressed. A round trip of 88 miles and £10 of petrol. Works out that I was getting 47 mpg. For a 23 year old car that's coming up to 241000 miles, and automatic. I think that's good going. 🚗 🙂

Here's the update on the astras running issues. Changed out the fuel filter this evening, and after a rough start and idle, she seemed to pick up. Took her out for a test run, and first junction after a mile, she cut out. Restarted straight away. Went on a run for about ten miles, and withhaving to stop every so often as it's narrow country lanes around here. She had no issues of stalling. Gave her a good hard run on the clear straights, and yes she's back toher good old self. Pulling like a trojan, and stopping without cutting out. So if anyone has these issues. Then I suggest replacing fuel filter. Tomorrow we're off to the coast. So some fresh fuel and a good run should sort her out.

Hi I had the same problem and its very common issue with the grandland. The wiring loom can't take the load Apparently. I think the wire overheats and causes the wiring to fail. I had the garage look at it and they upgraded the wiring at a cost of £150. Hope this helps

Hi I had the same problem and it was a total nightmare to sort. I had to buy a certain type of manufactures USB memory stick. Had to download load the updates about 20 time before it was recognised by the car. Got there in the end and won't be updating it again lol

I recently sold my vauxhall zafira tourer and have pre cut window tints for all windows. Light tints for front, dark tints for rear. Free if anyone would like them, happy to post them to you.

OK cheers for this will take a look at this I Ave had a look on taken the door card off but did not get around to getting it all the way off as it seemed to e stuck at top, but will try your reply first

that's probably the first place I would start Andy but also pay careful attention to any rubber hoses, vacuum lines and anything likely to draw draw unregulated air and cause a vacuum leak which may also cause similar symptoms Let us know how you get on with it

It is good that you are considering running on premium fuel as it does have a better calorific value that the E10 fuel which containing 10% Ethanol offers less performance per mile than a better quality higher octane rated fuel. Since running my older car (but not bikes) on E5 it makes a huge difference on performance and MPG. Not entirely sure what difference you will notice on a newer model like the Grandland but only one way to find out. When it comes to Shell and Esso I imagine they would be of similar quality but again its worth trialling each one to see the outcome

I bought the crossland x and had the wet belt replaced at a cost of £400 as a precaution. I've had it for just under three months now and I love it. It's a really nice smooth drive. So glad I took the plunge .

Hello everyone. Well my astra passed mot today. Only problem was that when the garage backed it out at the end of the test. The speedo cluster has stopped working again. So later I'm going to pull it apart again to see what's occurring.

I have now in my possession a 1996 Vauxhall Astra 1.4 Montana in green with 154,000 on the clock. I think it’s now had 3 owners as I had to put it into my name for SORN. My father owned the car for years and it was always garaged so it’s in very good condition but the engine even though it gleams does smoke a small amount. I would love to have any feedback on potential buyers.

The garage stated it was a diverter valve of some description and said it can be seen under the dashboard as a white plastic wheel turning. Passenger side , Somehow I eventually got a part number for this right hand drive version.However once they stated that the dashboard was to be removed.Problem NO screws to undo or guidance. Have now given up due to longstanding health problem. Dave

I had to change my sensor on my 2013 Insignia, it was located inside the filling bottle, your might be the same, easy to fit also. hope this helps👍

Set about the wheel bearing today. All sorted and I have my gauges back working g. Can't check speedo yet as battery flat. 😪 But will be checking over the brakes and then will see about booking the mot. I have a feeling the bearing had seen better days.

This was one of the last Omegas to be made and has the highest spec of the range. Vauxhall threw everything at it: full leather upholstery, full electric kit including heated seats front and rear, electricly adjustable front seats, Bose sound system, sunroof, 5 alloy wheels, towbar, etc. etc. The bodywork is showing its age, parts are hard to find and, for me, it's uneconomical to keep it as my only vehicle. I'd prefer to see it broken for parts rather then crushed so if you're interested please get in touch. It has an MoT until December '25 so you could come to Sheffield and drive it away! I'm open to offers above scrap value. Richard

Hi peeps I have a 74 plate Corsa 1.2T 130bp ultimate which is an absolute beast and I love it!! I've been looking to go to vauxhall car meets in the Kent - Sussex area to show him off and meet other vauxhall owners! Can anyone point me in the the right direction as looking online/FB etc there doesn't seem to be things like this happening anymore, not like the 90's-00's when they were everywhere I just loved driving about in my K reg Astra sport, lol. Hi there Richard. To manually open your boot, you need to climb in from the rear seats. Once you get in to the luggage area you need to look for a small hole near to the latch. By inserting a screwdriver into the hole, you can then release the boot. Apparently this is a common fault, and the release button will need to be replaced. I did a google search, and it came up with a couple of videos on YouTube that show you how to do all that I have described. Hope this helps, and you get it all sorted. Regards Andy

Vauxhall omega for sale mot June 25 mileage 80000 auto matic silver

I hope no one minds me intruding (I’m a member of the Ford classic Consul/Zephyr/Zodiac club!) but I can see from my house a Victor from about 1963 or 64 which was under cover for at least 35 years but is now standing out with a For Sale notice on it. It doesn’t look perfect by any means but I’m sure somebody could have a go at making it as good as new and it’s a shame, now that it’s outside, for it to just fall to bits. It’s in Ponteland, Northumberland. I don’t have any further details, though I’m sure I can get them if anyone needs them, and I’m not sure that I can post a photo with me only being a visitor on the forum. Antifreeze change is definitely worth doing this time of year and reminds me I must soon get round to changing on my own cars (and bike)

Bit late in replying, but if you are still after a replacement auto gear shift lever then contact a Jocko Murchie on Facebook. I know that he has one available and that quality will be good and he can be trusted as I have bought stuff from him before.

Maybe disconnect the battery leave for a few minutes and reconnect. then try to set the clock and see what happens

New Old Stock Zafira B rear panel trim as fitted to the edge of the boot. Never fitted new condition. Manufacturer Part Number 13192816. Looking for £20 plus postage.

Answering my own question, just incase anyone else is considering the Armster 2 or S. I took the plunge and ordered the Armster 2 from Amazon. Quite pricy at £112 (seen it at £91 elsewhere, but wanted to be able to return if fit wasn't good) but good quality and good features. Unfortunately it isn't a good fit; you would have to be a contortionist to be able to use the handbrake whilst the armrest was down (the handbrake actually touches the bottom of the armrest when pulled up). When armrest is in up position it wasn't far enough back to be out of the way - but may be ok if you have shorter legs! Sent back to Amazon next morning for full refund. Will plod-on with the standard armrest. 🤔
