  1. I had my egr valve with restrictor plates on and didn’t make much difference, so last weekend I set to and put a blanking plate, which I made myself on the exhaust manifold, removed the egr cooler and bent some 15mm copper pipe to go in its place. On the egr valve I put another blanking plate on there until I can afford to get it mapped out. What a difference my 1.9 cdti 150 bhp was flying, then I put a pipercross race air filter in and whoosh she was away again, it no longer feels like I am constantly driving into a head wind, the engine sounds happy and has instant power no lag, and no smoke at all on startup, now and again she still puffs out some blue smoke which it has always done but I think it must be the dpf needs a clean. My car now is like a rocket ship, she is an 08 model Vectra c.

  2. Just bought a 2015 Zafira Tourer SRI CDTi Bit of a come down from a 3.5 V6 Nissan Elgrand, but needs must and all that. Hoping to find decent recommendations for parts, repairs that a monkey can manage themselves etc. First job once car is delivered is replacing a cracked front grille (black bit only). Hopefully do-able on a DIY basis....

  3. Hey Vauxhall Corsa owners, I recently faced a frustrating issue with my Corsa's clutch pedal - it wasn't returning fully. After taking it to a garage, I learned that a little white clip on the pedal had snapped. The repair cost was almost £1000, as Vauxhall only offers a full pedal box replacement for around £600. I decided to take matters into my own hands. I designed and made my own version of the clip, and it works great - it's even stronger than the original. I've listed them on eBay if anyone else is facing the same problem. I've spent a lot of time designing, testing, and improving this part, and I've sold quite a few, even to some Vauxhall garages. However, someone bought one from me and tried to copy it. After a few light tests, it snapped. So, please use my link for an original. I'm posting this on a Vauxhall forum to let people know that I've made this part and it's available if they need it. I understand the frustration of dealing with a faulty clutch pedal, and I hope this solution can help others too. If you're interested, check out the link below. Thanks for reading, and I hope this helps someone out there! Vauxhall Corsa E Clutch Pedal Spring Retaining Clip | eBay

  5. Hi everyone and thank you for allowing me to join. I have been the proud owner of a astra J 1.7cdti sports tourer, yes she has high milage but wow what a car so comfy in the 1st 4 months of owning her I did 10,000miles I just can't keep out. No exactly the most economical but she's mine and I love my car to bits. Keep up the good work guys and gals.

  6. For sale is my mk3 Vauxhall cavalier GLS. 2L automatic petrol. The car is fantastic, it’s out of MOT but will be good to a new home. It’s been in the family for 25 years and well maintained and serviced. Car has some signs of wear and tear which is expected for its age of 29 years. It drives spot on with plenty of power in the engine. Easily pulls away faster than other cars without trying! Gearbox is good as well. 4 speed automatic. Looking for £1000 but open to offers. V5, 2 keys and has fuel in it.

  7. Hi there, cheers , been a very long time since I owned a vauxhall, back in the 90's lol was a cavalier 2.0 glsi or something like that, there was a, g ,s and I maybe an L lol from sitting in the cockpit on my new one they've definitely come a long way , it's a really nice comfy place to sit and love all the dash layout, drives nice and straight too, inside is spotless, looks new , only bad bits are ,the passenger side sill has a straight long dent about a foot long which I can correct myself when the weather is warmer , done body work before , drivers side mirror casing was broke, I've replaced that and I was able re use the mirror cap as that was fine and saved me spraying it lol, one back light has a tiny piece of the corner broke off so I'll replace that in the next week or so, once those things are done the body will look spotless too. Things I've done so far, mod wise, swapped all interior bulbs for white led, black/red seat covers to keep the upholstery clean, ordered some replacement headlight led's, will be doing a chrome delete around windows, prep and respray the alloys cuz there's a few little scuffs, going change glow plugs and filters too, don't know when they were last done, once all that's done I'll either leave it at that or see what else I could do, I do this with all my cars basically, I like get them to look spotless

  11. Vauxhall Astra, Opel Kadett & Vauxhall Belmont full service manual (microfiche) 1990 These microfiches contain the full workshop service instructions for the Vauxhall Astra and related models from 1990. My late father got them when he owned a Mk 2 Astra in 1990. Rather than just chuck them I thought I'd check to see if anyone could make good use of them... an invaluable resource if you're embarking on a restoration project or just keeping one on the road! He also had a Carlton at the same time so I'll be putting a similar post in that group... The microfiches are marked "08/90" (presumably August 1990) and "6th Revised Edition". They were bought with an H-reg vehicle so that aligns perfectly. The document identifier seems to be TSD-1448/6-GB and the "article number" is 93133. There are four microfiches in total. All are in excellent condition (they were only ever used in a DIY context and never in a commercial garage) and are still in the original Opel branded envelope. The four microfiches contain: I Sections A to H II Section J (OHC petrol & CIH petrol engines) III Section J (DOHC petrol and OHC diesel engines) IV Sections K to R The section headings are: A Maintenance, body and chassis sheet metal parts B Paint C Body equipment D Heating, ventilation and air conditioning E Frame, front wheel suspension, wheels and tyres F Rear axle and rear wheel suspension [G is omitted] H Brakes [I is omitted] J Engine and engine aggregates K Clutch and transmission L Fuel and exhaust system M Steering N Electrical equipment and instruments [O to Q are omitted] R Optional equipment and accessories Microfiche readers are readily available at relatively low cost on eBay and there seem to be people that offer a microfiche-to-PDF transcription service as well.

  14. I had difficulty finding out how to access the stalk switches. First release the steering wheel, lower it and pull it out telescopically. The wheel needs to be turned 90° left and right to get access to two screws. The top plastic cover can be prised off, starting by lifting the tabs covering the screws and levering upwards - see photo. (The top cover clips onto the bottom cover.) There is a third screw centrally underneath the lower cover. (6mm socket needed for all 3.) The separate cover over the ignition switch needs to be prised off and manoeuvred out. The stalk picture shows it half out with one locking-clip seen on top. The white connector on the PEC attaches the cable going up the stalk for the rear wiper control; remove it before unscrewing the PEC. The stalk switches connect to the Body Control Module located behind the glove box; I was relieved to find that it was not the problem! The 3 positions of the wiper switch, Intermittent, normal & fast are encoded with resistors on the PEC, they are decoded by the BCM which commands the wiper relays. Sadly I had already ordered a replacement stalk from Ebay before finding the corrosion. It may yet come in handy!

  15. Just thought I'd say hi. Although I would not call myself a car person, I have been a persistent vauxhall owner from a £600 vectra Sri I purchased as my third ever car in 2014. It was a considerable size upgrade from the two Peugeot 106's I had before that. Of course as a young driver I drove it until it eventually gave out but it owed me nothing and I think the scrappy turned it into a stock race car or demolition car or something like that. I have, along with my wife, had since then had a brand new corsa in 2016 which we swapped to a brand new mokka in 2018(fell into the PCP scam cycle with both of them). We decided to not to go brand new when we swapped to the 20 plate Grandland for her, which she still has now, after realising the mokka just wasn't big enough for a family. I ended up with a 66 plate 1.4i Astra elite which I loved as they are surprisingly nippy and kitted out with quite a few extras. I never even thought of joining an owners forum before, but early Feb 2024 I swapped out my astra for 67 plate Insignia Grand Sport which is is my first automatic car I've ever driven and I have to say I am completely in love with it. It's packed with what I can only imagine is almost all of the optional extras and because its the 2.0 260 bhp engine it is great fun to drive. Albeit very thirsty. And that about does it really. That's my vauxhall journey

  16. If you have the parts to fit then go for it and also gives you a chance to totally flush through the old brake fluid and fill with fresh.....this is usually the problem as the valves stick as corroded with moisture in the fluid and contamination of the metal valve and body

  17. I recently had the wet belt issue on my GrandlandX 1.2. A Vauxhall dealership diagnosed the issue as Wet Belt and then asked for £1049 for the repair. Eventually I made a case via Vauxhall customer service and their Good Will Dept, (I gave no details except the dealership). They paid in full for the costs.

  18. Hi everyone I have got the few issues sorted with the astra MK3 1995 1.7td izuzu Its not mint I admit but looking on how rare is my car.com it apparently is one of 12 left in one in that model with that engine how true that is I don't know but I know it's a fairly rare car as I've not seen one on the road for over 20 odd years plus I will post some pictures of it this week my plan is to fully restore it due to the fact of its history and how honest and standard it is a non molested model I know it's not everyone's cup of tea and isnt worth a fortune but I think it's great to keep a rare genuine vauxhall model going and kept on the road

  25. Your LED Headlights are only road legal because they are Manufacturer fitted and are sealed units and when any of the lights go then the whole unit has to be replaced. I don't know for sure if the DRL is an MOT failure. RHD and LHD are not inter changeable because the lens are set up to direct the light in a different direction because the need to light up the side of the road they are driving on.

  28. After a search through the Forum I could not find any information on the above title. So, Here they are. Fault Codes are usually found by a mechanic checking the Engine Management System with a machine that plugs into the ECU (Electronic Control Unit) which is usually situated under the dashboard. These Machines are called Op Coms or in Vauxhall's case Vaux Coms, cheap Chinese Clones can be purchased and some may even allow you to "programme" certain things, but most are OK for searching and finding Fault Codes. Fault Codes can also be found on almost all cars built on or after 2000 by using "The Pedal Test Method" :: To do this you need to Press both the Accelerator and Brake pedals down to the floor then turn ignition on until the lights come on but not as far as to start the engine..........then where your mileage shows up it should flash up "ECN" and then a series of numbers that are your fault codes, several codes can come up quickly after one another so it is a good idea to have a pen and paper ready. If nothing appears then you either have no faults or the test hasn't worked, but it usually does work on most cars. Now you will need to know what the codes mean, here is a full and comprehensive list of the Fault Codes (the vast majority of these codes apply to most other cars as well as Vauxhalls. When checking your codes from the "Pedal Test" ignore the "P" on the Fault Code list and use only the first four digits reading from the left, if the code brought up is only 3 digits then add a 0 to the front of the code. Here is a Link to a Full and Comprehensive List of the Fault Codes (Almost 1900 of them) (1) Vauxhall Fault Finding For Free | Digitalworldz Oh, and a Big Thank You to Trevor on Admin for suggesting the link when I was unable to upload the Fault Codes.

  29. A few weeks ago I posted a photo of my 2011 Agila. Only brought the car 24/9 this year. It had a dent on the rear drivers side. Would cost a lot to have it plastic welded etc. So I thought I would cover the dent with a Red Reflector. Halfords didn't have the right size so went on Google. Found 2 Oblong Reflectors for only £2.85p. As you can see from first photo, reflector covers the dent perfectly. As I still had another reflector I put it on the opposite side. They look like they are part of the car. WARNING: The adhesive is very strong. Once it touches the paint It Will Not Come Of. Be sure reflector is in the right position before pressing it on. Luckily it is level across the number plate, so once I had the dent covered, I measured the distance from reflector ,(On the Driver's side) to the number plate. Simply a matter of getting the same distance on the Passenger side. Hope this is useful to other members

  32. Hi Dean, you will probably need someone with an OBD2 reader to clear out the fault code, which should then extinguish the warning light. And hopefully it should stay off. Regards Andy

  36. Well I have finally managed to get to work on my own car, now daughters is sorted. Update on the broken spring, is that it's not broke. The shock on the other hand has died. Hence why the spring was so squished down. So new shocks on order, and as I already have new springs and bearings, the whole front end will get a well deserved overhaul. Checking on records of car history, there is no record of any work being done to suspension legs. So I'm guessing there all original. Which isn't bad for 229,800 miles. On looking at wish bones, they are a bit floppy, so I see these being replaced too. At least the sun's out.

  40. Hello everyone, Hope you're all well? I always comply with forum etiquette and introduce ones self before posting. I'm Chad. Me and my partner both own Vauxhalls. We like their reliability, longevity and feel. We ALL know here motors have moving parts and moving parts cause problems My partner, Laura, has a 2008 Astra which has been serviced yearly since having it roughly 8 years ago. What a beauty she is still (the car). Me.. I have a Vauxhall Combo 2016.. I bought her out of desperation when my Astra 2006 Estate decided it was her time to go to the heap. The Combo has given me nothing but trouble in what "should've" been an excellent and reliable van (looonnngggg story and lots of money) --- I didn't want to add this next bit -- I stupidly bought her with no service history. Looking forward to being a member of your forum. Chad.

  45. Boost leak? Turbo Vanes sticking? there are a few other possibilities to examine before replacing any parts but look for a split in a turbo boost hose first (usually makes a noise which is either a whistle or if in rubber sounds like a farting noise)

  46. Insignia 2014 diesel eco. The wipers often will not start, except by demanding wash, when they always work. After driving for a while the wipers start working, either using the intermittent selection or either of normal or fast settings, but changing a setting can cause the wipers to stop again and they may then start again after a while. The problem exists on all 3 setting positions, except for the wash-pull. Evidently power does arrive at the stalk switch. Rear wiper works OK. It is puzzling how a bad connection could cause this. I have been testing them while stopped - engine off. Is it necessary to be moving? Is the Computer involved with wiper control? When they work, the speeds are as expected, so the motor seems OK I succeeded in fixing the problem. The wiper stalk switch is removed by squeezing the plastic strips top and bottom and pulling it out of the housing. Unfortunately the release for the connector is out of sight underneath the switch so a bit difficult. The release for this connector is on the inner side facing the control column. There are two screws holding one side of the switch together, but this gives access only to the sprung plunger that holds the switch in the three positions. Taking it apart is unnecessary unless re-greasing is wanted. The other side of the switch can be removed by releasing the plastic lugs. This then allows the disconnection of a small connector and removal of the PEC after removing the screw. The main contact slider can then be removed, noting its orientation. In my case 2 of the contact prongs were corroded. The copper strips had pairs of marks where the slider stopped, which was worrying as it looked as though there might be holes. After cleaning and re-assembly the switch works properly. There is another contact slider, presumably for the rear wiper. I have more pictures of the repair, but they exceed the allowance.
