Hello VOC, I've just signed up to the forum as I presently own a 2007 Vectra C 1.8 vvt SRi having bought it in Nov 22 with 61,000 miles on the clock. This is my first Vectra but I'm by no means new to Vauxhall having owned the following - Astra Mk2 1.8 GTE and 2.0 16v GTE. Cavalier Mk2 1.8 CDi 5 door,1.8 SRi 4 door,2.0 SRi 4 door,2.0 SRi130 5 door and Calibre. Cavalier MK3 2 x 1.6GL 5 door,1.6LS 4 door ,1.8LS 5 door,2.0 SRi 5 door,2 x GSi2000,SRi16v Redtop 4 door,SRi16v Ecotec 5 door. The majority of the above I modified some mildly and others extensively. As for me I live in Scotland and drive HGVs for living. In my mid 40s apart from a huge passion for cars, owning and driving but as much modifying and rebuilding (Not just Vauxhall but Fords from the late 60s to early 90s OR in other words pre Mondeo,Escorts up to and inc MK3s,especially mk3 in fact,MKi Fiestas, all Capris,Cortinas and Sierras. In fact,I've a large history of Ford ownership too) but I also have played guitar for a long time, love history and much more. Bob3 points

Hi everyone, I thought I would introduce myself to you all as I think I have some interesting history with Vauxhall. Back in the late 1950/Early 1960 my father worked at the Vauxhall plant in Luton, not really sure what he did, but probably on the production line somewhere. My earliest recollection of the car he drove was a Bedford CA Dormobile, I don't know that much about it other than the Reg number of NEW641 and the memories of places we visited with this vehicle, believe me we did some miles in it. The next car he owned probably around 1966 was a truly fantastic car, The Vauxhall Cresta PA Estate reg number UPM70, what a lovely car that was. Next was the PC Cresta saloon, another work of art, then he purchased ( brand new) probably with staff discount a Viva Van, not quite sure what model HA or HB in white, as a second vehicle in the household, I do remember that he tought both my Mother and my eldest sister to drive in it. So as you can imagine there is a bit of Vauxhall in my blood, currently I own a VX220, and a Mavano van that has been converted to a Campervan and there have been many other Vauxhall's in-between, as well as some interesting history with a vauxhall dealer where I worked for a few years. Just a short taster of many years with Vauxhall, if anyone is interested send me a message and I'll get back to you. Thanks for reading this, all the best2 points

Hi PJL, we have the 2013 Meriva and expected Bluetooth but it is not present on our model. There is a 'Phone' option on the control module but, similarly, not Bluetooth device to connect to or option in the controls. I purchased the below USB/3.5mm dongle from Amazon for £12 and it works great. Plugs in low in the console towards the gearstick and plugs into the Aux 3.5mm jack. After pairing your phone once, just press the 'Aux' button to switch to your phone for music or calls. Hope this works for you. Thank you very much for all your correspondence, I checked for miles or Kilometres, you were correct it was Kilometers, went back to garage and said to them as they put kilometre reading in miles on the MOT, they reset it to miles and now are going to inform DVLA about the error, I also am going to write to DVLA as it's on my MOT I'd done 34000 miles more than I had, was convinced the odometer was faulty, what an idiot I feel, now back to miles now, Thank you so much for your help much appreciated.2 points

Just a quick hello. I used to be a member of this forum years ago when I had an Omega Elite. The interaction there was great, I did all the work on the car myself and there were loads of guys that really knew their stuff. I'm hoping there will be some people who know lots about the Insignia VXR as I've got some issues to fix and there is not very much technical documentation on the internet, or to buy for that matter!2 points

I have an Astra G estate 1.6 Twinport 2004. I have recently updated this to a 2015 model. I want to sell the car to someone who can benefit from all the parts on the car which has been pretty much maintained regardless of expense. Maintenance has used only authentic parts or OEM upgrades such as Bilstein, Monroe and Brembo. I have a spreadsheet available detailing all replaced parts and consumables. I had to change car as 2 of the cylinders need new rings. It even has a premium Kenwood DAB+ & Bluetooth Stereo. Can anyone suggest where I might offer the vehicle, which still drives, for sale? Thanks1 point

Hi there Richard. To manually open your boot, you need to climb in from the rear seats. Once you get in to the luggage area you need to look for a small hole near to the latch. By inserting a screwdriver into the hole, you can then release the boot. Apparently this is a common fault, and the release button will need to be replaced. I did a google search, and it came up with a couple of videos on YouTube that show you how to do all that I have described. Hope this helps, and you get it all sorted. Regards Andy1 point

An airbag light should extinguish once the repair has been carried out as it looks at the system resistances each time the ignition is cycled. You should be able to get away with the clock spring if it physically fits as the resistance should be within similar spec to the original one1 point

Hello there. The car started misfiring. I took it to my mechanic whe said it a cracked plug due to overheating. He repaired it and it was fine for a day. Unfortunately I had to take her back to the mechanic. He advised that part of the old plug had dropped in the engine and done some damage. There is a little rust over the rear offside wheel arch. The height adjustment on the drivers seat needs some attention. Due to the age we have decided to let it go. It is too good to go to the scrappers so I am hoping an enthusiast will enjoy the challenge to get her running again.1 point

hi everyone, this last sunday's meet was at the binton social club, midway between alcester and stratford on avon. it was very well attended, being a monthly event it's very popular. the weather was good so quite a variety of vehicles were in attendance, from a bubble car to a corvette!! my own favourite of the day was a beautiful 1950 mg y type almond green with almond interior, so stylish. best regards keith1 point

hi everybody, what a lovely day at the steam rally. loads to see, mostly steam driven, organs, fairground rides, traction engines, static engines and of course a very large selection of historic vehicles. there was a vehicle there for every taste including a scammel scareb, fully restored to railway livery. my own personel favorite was a selection of 1930's austins, westminsters and yorks, simply stunning.1 point

Hi there ThomasShore. Just done some google checking, and code 68 seems to relate to the power steering, as it is electric. People are also saying that a low charge in the battery can also bring up this code, Mainly due to the steering drawing a lot of power. Have you had the battery checked to see if its holding charge? Regards Andy.1 point

MOT'd till October, 106k, I have owned this car since 2008, only selling now as I have had to buy an estate for the dog. The car has been maintained regardless of cost over those years and runs perfectly, highlights include: - Timing chain replaced at around 65k. - Traction control switch fitted with all OE parts - Chris Tullet Tubular 4to1 exhaust manifold. - Stainless steel cat back exhaust (Scorpion). - Ported / polished throttle body. - GSI rear arch spats - Uprated / lowered Eibach springs. - Pioneer head unit, Pioneer speakers front (separates) and back. - EGR deleted. Now for the bad points: - Air con pump seized, replacement will be included. - Small dent in bonnet, superficial and easy repair. - small hole in exhaust downpipe flexi joint. - 1 boot hinge needs repair. Apart from the above minor issues the car is in great shape, I have tried to list everything and be as honest as possible, I am not desperate to sell the car so please don't make any silly offers.1 point

Hi folks, Did anyone on here get to Stonham Bans for the VAUXFEST24? I went down on the Sunday, it was a nice hot day, and there were quite a selection of Vauxhall/Opel cars to browse over. Unfortunately they didn't allow any club stands, so not a lot of interaction going on between owners. If you go on the Vauxfest Facebook page, there are loads of photos of the weekend. Andy.1 point

You are correct in most of the procedure but I would put the cap on before the temperature rises too high. Once if has had chance to settle down then release the cap when safe to do so (gradually to allow pressure to release and keep clear of the boiling water). The level will then drop slightly. Refill to the level and do the same until the level no longer drops. Always ensure the cap is tight and never release when hot and with too much pressure behind it.1 point

Vauxhall Omega/Carlton/Senator Mk2 full service manual on microfiche (1990) These microfiches contain the full workshop service instructions for the Vauxhall Omega, Carlton and Senator models. My late father got them when he owned a Mk 2 Carlton in 1990. Rather than just chuck them I thought I'd check to see if anyone could make good use of them... an invaluable resource if you're embarking on a restoration project or just trying to keep one on the road! The microfiches are marked "06/90" (presumably June 1990) and "2nd Revised Edition". They were bought with an H-reg vehicle so that aligns perfectly. The document identifier seems to be TSD-1506/2-GB and the "article number" is 93109. There are five microfiches in total. All are in excellent condition (they were only ever used in a DIY context and never in a commercial garage) and are still in the original Opel branded envelope. The five microfiches contain: I Sections A to H II Section J (OHC petrol & CIH petrol engines) III Section J (DOHC petrol and OHC diesel engines) IV Section K V Sections L to R The section headings are: A Maintenance, body and chassis sheet metal parts B Paint C Body equipment D Heating, ventilation and air conditioning E Frame, front wheel suspension, wheels and tyres F Rear axle and rear wheel suspension [G is omitted] H Brakes [I is omitted] J Engine and engine aggregates K Clutch and transmission L Fuel and exhaust system M Steering N Electrical equipment and instruments [O to Q are omitted] R Optional equipment and accessories Microfiche readers are readily available at relatively low cost on eBay and there seem to be people that offer a microfiche-to-PDF transcription service as well. Drop me a message if they're of interest to you...1 point
