  1. Hi, I keep meaning to say thank you for your advise. We're a bit skint at the moment and the steering isn't playing up (touch wood), so we're saving up and hopefully get it in a garage ASAP. Thanks Ang :-)
  2. Hi All, Recently picked up a 2012 Astra GTC VXR. Initially wanted an ST MK2 for the unbeatable 5-pot burble, but reckoned I wouldn't sleep peacefully after I'd researched the sleeve cracking issue in-depth 😅 This led me to the Astra GTC VXR. I've been pleasantly surprised with the overall package and driving experience this car offers. The performance and looks are a killer combo and a testament to a time when manufacturers were fighting to have the hottest hatch, while still letting you plonk a few buttons to unleash the dark side. Glad to be here!
  3. Thanks for the welcome and when the weather clears up and I have cleaned the car I'll get some pics
  4. Hi there have you tried ebay? Failing that it might have to be a vauxhall dealership. I have found in the past that ebay has come up trumps on a lot of parts. Some can be high silly prices, but thee are quite a few that are decently priced. Hope this helps. Regards AndyR
  5. Ty I got 1 from there thanks

Hi all Name is Kevin owned my Zafira since 2002 purchased as a 6 months old ex demo car from Hartwells
  7. Hi everyone, I thought I would introduce myself to you all as I think I have some interesting history with Vauxhall. Back in the late 1950/Early 1960 my father worked at the Vauxhall plant in Luton, not really sure what he did, but probably on the production line somewhere. My earliest recollection of the car he drove was a Bedford CA Dormobile, I don't know that much about it other than the Reg number of NEW641 and the memories of places we visited with this vehicle, believe me we did some miles in it. The next car he owned probably around 1966 was a truly fantastic car, The Vauxhall Cresta PA Estate reg number UPM70, what a lovely car that was. Next was the PC Cresta saloon, another work of art, then he purchased ( brand new) probably with staff discount a Viva Van, not quite sure what model HA or HB in white, as a second vehicle in the household, I do remember that he tought both my Mother and my eldest sister to drive in it. So as you can imagine there is a bit of Vauxhall in my blood, currently I own a VX220, and a Mavano van that has been converted to a Campervan and there have been many other Vauxhall's in-between, as well as some interesting history with a vauxhall dealer where I worked for a few years. Just a short taster of many years with Vauxhall, if anyone is interested send me a message and I'll get back to you. Thanks for reading this, all the best

Hi mate I completely forgot about sharing my photos of my new Corsa ultimate and I also went for the 130 turbo!!........ it's like it's been given a steroid injection 🤣
  9. Hi AndyR Just had the same issue if no noise coming from water pump it sounds good check your thermostat just changed mine and it gets up to temp a lot quicker and sits nicely between 88⁰-92⁰ hope this helps all the best.
  10. Hi....welcome to the Club some cars are going to be a pain from the beginning (my hate is VW) and are plagued with problems. sometimes you get a good one and sometimes a bad one (Friday - Monday cars). Good to have you onboard and hope you can resolve some of the issues
  11. I've got a Crossland X and it has started to drink oil, I have always had main dealer service and the wet belt changed last year. I have been quoted over 6k to fix it doing a bit of digging it is my understanding Stellantis extended the warranty on Puretech engines beacuse of this fault
  12. I think the first move is to see where you have power going up to the lighter sockets. Using a multimeter or test lamp see voltage what you are getting at the sockets and work your way back through the electrical system from there to establish if there is a break in the circuit somewhere
  13. Hi....welcome to the Club Judging by the history of the Ford Ecoboost engines with wetbelts it is a concern to say the least Consensus is that regular (even more frequent) oil changes is imperative and check what is coming out with the oil (fibres, etc)
  14. I have the same problem. Did anyone solve this yet?

Up date on issue took a look at it and belt was off, puzzled really if belt was off how is I could drive car with message on dash, so refitted belt and the message as gone so I tested the battery (engine off) was reading 11.35 (engine on) reading 14.56 so took it for drive tonight no message back and belt still on strange, but still have a loss of power in car but this just may be down to the intercooler pipe as I may have a split in it some where as engine makes a whistling sound when accelerating would I be right there
  16. I have used a company that is based in Europe and great service - AutoDoc, worth going onto their website to see if available
  17. Thanks, had a rear end collision which split ad blue tank, was replaced by body shop and topped up. New tank fitted, tank topped and reset by Vauxhall…injector found to be leaking , also reset. Tank is over 3 quarter full so not level sensor? Dealer stating Cat failure…..!!!! Clowns….!!!…have reset codes and it now has more cleaner in diesel than diesel…!!!…..EML gone as has reset warning….just need to find the dodgy sensor
  18. Will do. I tried Wynnes adblue cleaner, but it hasn't helped with this particular issue - though I'd hope it helps reduce crystallisation in general.

That does make me wonder at times, as it is only down to the refinement of the fuel. I could understand it if it was like it used to be with the 4 star leaded and unleaded. And you had the 2 star for mowers and mopeds. But now I use E10 in my mower as well. I don't know how my 1982 Datsun is going to fair with E5 or E10 though. When leaded was done away with, I just adjusted the carb and timing. Didn't even need to have new valve seats either. But thats a project for the near future.

Sat and worked out mpg for the trip to the coast the other day. And I can honestly say that I'm impressed. A round trip of 88 miles and £10 of petrol. Works out that I was getting 47 mpg. For a 23 year old car that's coming up to 241000 miles, and automatic. I think that's good going. 🚗 🙂
  21. Ah the good old days of points and the ignition coil :0) I'll have a chat with Halfords. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

That's great news Andy and fuel filters are commonly overlooked on all makes and models of car, motorbike, you name it. May also be worth checking your coolant sensor and ambient air sensor (if fitted to your model) as sometimes they can give misleading information and that can affect idle speeds, etc

Here's the update on the astras running issues. Changed out the fuel filter this evening, and after a rough start and idle, she seemed to pick up. Took her out for a test run, and first junction after a mile, she cut out. Restarted straight away. Went on a run for about ten miles, and withhaving to stop every so often as it's narrow country lanes around here. She had no issues of stalling. Gave her a good hard run on the clear straights, and yes she's back toher good old self. Pulling like a trojan, and stopping without cutting out. So if anyone has these issues. Then I suggest replacing fuel filter. Tomorrow we're off to the coast. So some fresh fuel and a good run should sort her out.

Thanks Andy for sharing the detailed report as it would be useful for anyone else who is experiencing the same issues. I don't think it does any harm to internally clean some components due to carbon build up and degrading seals and gaskets. I think we are yet to see how the increased Ethanol in fuel will affect the older vehicles particularly when it comes to seals and gaskets - only time will tell. Look forward to the updated reports

Hi all new member I have a growing concern regarding this wet belt scenario I feel that it is time extreme pressure in some way should be applied to Vauxhall and other manufacturers to get rid of this wet belt whoever thought that this was a good idea I know other manufacturers use it as well as we will find out soon the cars for example bought on PCP of which more and more drivers seem to be going down that road will on average trade in after 4/5 years which means a lot of people buying second are going to experience this wet belt due for replacement not knowing this and continuing driving it with problems arising the average cost of replacing a wet belt is £1000 + where as a timing belt was on average £200 plus there a very few garages willing to tackle the wet belt replacement because of the amount of work on it I think vauxhall should either consider converting back to the timing belt or replace the existing cars with a chain that won’t deteriorate I think it is shocking that the motoring industry thought this was a good idea very poor show VAUXHALL & others Kenny L
  26. I received, with my new Vectra Estate in 2005, a pair of brand new front lower bumpers. As I no longer have the car, they're available to anyone who might be able to use them. I'm not looking for any money. We're in High Wycombe.
  27. great news and good diagnosis of the real fault - always usually something simple but difficult to find
  28. Hi everybody, I hope to get lots of good info here - I need it. Anything I can help with I'll gladly help. I live in Caerphilly, S. Wales & am retired now. Just call me lazman.
  29. Limited edition long body nautilus 2.4i SORN...needs bodywork, radiator, lots of tlc - too much for us. Last of its kind. Sensible offers considered.
  30. Hi, I replaced my engine mount yesterday. I believe I've had my mileage out of it. It seems a little worn. 😁

Hi there Johndoh. Welcome to the forum. I am sure you will find lots of interesting stuff on here. Feel free to post any questions you might have. And if you've had an issue that you've managed to sort yourself, you can share your knowledge. Regards Andy.
  32. Will do. Just waiting for the bearing to turn up. And then the fun will begin. Done the engine coolant flush yesterday, so that's another box ticked. I'm getting there slowly.
  33. Hoping so. Haven't took her out yet,as doing lots of the little Jobs I've been putting off. Next o the list is front wheel bearing as lost all gauges.
  34. i had this same problem it turned out to be the slave cylinder
  35. I have an Astra G estate 1.6 Twinport 2004. I have recently updated this to a 2015 model. I want to sell the car to someone who can benefit from all the parts on the car which has been pretty much maintained regardless of expense. Maintenance has used only authentic parts or OEM upgrades such as Bilstein, Monroe and Brembo. I have a spreadsheet available detailing all replaced parts and consumables. I had to change car as 2 of the cylinders need new rings. It even has a premium Kenwood DAB+ & Bluetooth Stereo. Can anyone suggest where I might offer the vehicle, which still drives, for sale? Thanks

Hi....welcome to the Club Glad to see that you have resolved the numerous issues and positive outcome
  38. Great diagnostic skills used to determine faults rather than just replacing components in an attempt to resolve the issues. Thanks for giving feedback and solutions
  39. I have owned my very faithful Omega CDX 2.6 V6 automatic for sixteen years and my cousin for three years before. Unfortunately a suspected oil pump failure has resulted in a suspected big end knock. Before I send it to scrap yard heaven, anyone interested in salvaging parts for the few that are still out there on the road or in a collectors garage? She had quite a few new parts fitted in the last year and has five full size alloy wheels, two with new tyres a couple of weeks ago and two with new tyres last year, around 2000 miles wear and the spare is about half worn. She would need picking up from Alton, Hampshire. I have been offered just under £300.00 for scrap so would be looking for offers of at least that, but I would rather see her recycled for spare parts. It will need picking up by trailer/transporter from GU34 Mileage 109263. Colour Silver. New windscreen fitted July 2024. Hardly any rust. MOT 16/6/2025. Reg PF53UEU. Popped in to say hi, I have 2000 vauxhall arena van
  43. Have had this issue and Andy is right, it's a known problem but an easy...ish fix. You have to remove all the upper trim on the inside of the boot lid to allow access to the switch which sits inside of the external chrome strip. Water gets in from the seal of that strip and corrodes some of the wiring loom. If you feel competent enough, you can repair the loom but sometimes it is the actual switch. A new loom with the switch isn't expensive, but be careful when ordering, the hatchback version won't fit, I had to butcher that one! I added a waterproof tape to the upper side of the switch when installing again and put more sealant around the chrome strip too, hopefully stops future leaks. Good Luck.
  44. I have a New "old stock", reconditioned rack for sale. It was remanufactured by UNIPART, their part No. GSR 610 E. If you send me your email address, I will forward a series of photographs. I'm looking for around £100 plus £ 15 carriage. Rodney MANNERS tel: 078 41 51 75 63
  45. Actually I’m still having the same issue with the spare key so think I’ll get it booked in somewhere to get looked at.
  46. Yes I’m trying the other key and that seems to be ok so maybe fault with the original key

Merry Christmas to the members of the Vauxhall Owners Club Enjoy the festive break and see you back here in 2025
  48. Antifreeze change is definitely worth doing this time of year and reminds me I must soon get round to changing on my own cars (and bike)
  49. Hi Andy It is possible that the waterpump impellor isn't working as well as it was when it was new and in the case of some old BMWs the impellor used to come off the shaft and sit idle and blocking the waterways. Remarkably, the engine gave no symptoms of any issues except for when sitting in traffic (thermosyphon system working as it should do) Worth replacing if in doubt but also don't forget the coolant expansion cap on the reservoir as if this is faulty then it can cause the same symptoms
