Hi All, Recently picked up a 2012 Astra GTC VXR. Initially wanted an ST MK2 for the unbeatable 5-pot burble, but reckoned I wouldn't sleep peacefully after I'd researched the sleeve cracking issue in-depth 😅 This led me to the Astra GTC VXR. I've been pleasantly surprised with the overall package and driving experience this car offers. The performance and looks are a killer combo and a testament to a time when manufacturers were fighting to have the hottest hatch, while still letting you plonk a few buttons to unleash the dark side. Hi there have you tried ebay? Failing that it might have to be a vauxhall dealership. I have found in the past that ebay has come up trumps on a lot of parts. Some can be high silly prices, but thee are quite a few that are decently priced. Hope this helps. Regards AndyR

Hi...welcome to the club It's nice to see some connoisseurs like to look at the alternatives out there rather than jumping on the band wagon. The ST is a good car but there are equally satisfying cars out there at a fraction of a price as they are not rated by their badge. I owned a Rover 200LE 'BRM' - a limited edition (795 made for UK market) and it was and still is the one car I wished I had kept for its unique style (google the images of the Rover BRM) and was an homage to the racing cars from the nineteen fifties and sixties. There were many other 'limited editions' available at the time - Renault Clio Sport 'Williams Edition' to name just one - ANYONE ELSE ADD TO THIS LIST? but most of the time it came down to the badge and no one wanted to drive an 'old mans' car like a Rover, albeit not at all standard at all. Hi thanks for adding me My names colin and I own a 2017 Astra k 1.6cdti sports tourer which is my first car . I have to say it is a pretty good car I have had to replace the timing chain tensioner and a few other bits since owning it from January this year.

Owned from new - metallic silver with factory fitted full body styling kit + 19in alloy wheels (snowflake design). Additional spare alloy wheel (purchased when no longer being manufactured). 130,000 miles - still runs extremely well. Bodywork in reasonably good condition for its age. Serviced and MOT'd last month. Excellent tyres - all tyres purchased during this year. Genuine reason for sale - running costs now somewhat of a luxury with only doing approx 2000 miles a year - for some years now. Does need money spending on it due to following issues - Offside & nearside inner drive shaft joints severely deteriorated (MOT minor defects) Nearside rear brake pipe corroded (MOT monitor & repair if necessary - advisory) Alloy wheels (which make the look of the car) could do with refurbishment. Panel on drivers door that operates both front windows not working. Petrol cap disconnected from central locking system as solenoid needs replacing. Wiper motor/linkages need attention as both wipers sweep against/beyond windscreen rubber surround. Water ingress into front passenger footwell. Reason unknown - suspect it may be windscreen seal damage/deterioration (not visible) where wiper blade has swept onto/over the rubber seal. Car needs TLC from a Vectra enthusiast who has the skills to maintain it. It would be such a shame to scrap it as 2.0 SRi petrol variants aren't so common these days - the car genuinely looks good. Luckily the Corsa only has 1 wet belt on the earlier fords there are 2 belts camshaft drive and some garages only replace the top one, so when inspected it looks like the belt has been changed, but then the camshaft belt shreds.

I couldn't agree more with your comment about the Ford wet belt issues. Neighbour had a focus diesel, the wet belt degraded and sent particles of rubber through the oil system, thus slowly killing the engine. Ended up replacing whole engine. So yes get it checked out regularly for piece of mind.

Hi....welcome to the Club Judging by the history of the Ford Ecoboost engines with wetbelts it is a concern to say the least Consensus is that regular (even more frequent) oil changes is imperative and check what is coming out with the oil (fibres, etc)

I have a 2019 Corsa registered in September 2019, I want to know if it has a dry belt, wet belt or timing chain because I have heard some woryying co9mments regarding wet timing belts

hi I have a vaxhall victora 1.8 sri the water level drop. so top it up ok for 2 days then top it up again. pressure test it the the pressure never drop .then it was for ages then it happened agan sumone it cud be the cap so got a new one .sill drop .top it up pressure test agan no drop again. at my wit end .can eney one help .

No other fault codes displayed on the OpCom, We've been today trying to manually center the gearbox selector shaft. However, when we believe it is centered only one wheel turns, when we rotated the steering wheel to the right (fully) one wheel span forwards the other backwards. We have had the gear selector actuator out to manually put this into neutral aswell but when we believe to have them both in a neutral position the actuator doesnt align with selector shaft.
