Hi all, my 1.6 16v astra g is giving me grief, very hesitant when pulling away, but will accelarate well. But won't cruise without being somewhat jerky, like its not getting fuel constantly.

Firstly how do I remove air mass sensor(see picture), and secondly, what is this that seems connected to the throttle body (see third picture).

Thanks in advance.

Update on the hesitation problem.  I re traced my steps on work I'd done previously to the problem. And found that it was the egr causing it. So I've re blanked it off, and she's back running like she was. And no eml either.  I would still like an answer about the items I posted last week please.

Regards Andy.

Glad you managed to sort the running issue Andy

As for the sensor I would leave it alone if its running fine and just reconnect the plug.
The other component, I'm not exactly sure what it is but more than likely emissions related.
Again, if the vehicle is running fine then I would be more tempted to leave it be

Thank you mate. I must admit that I am going to leave well alone, if its not broke, don't fix.

I have re-connected the sensor, and unless I get a problem with it, I'm leaving it  well alone too. Just need to do a complete coolant flush now, as it seems a bit cruddy. Have fresh anti-freeze at the ready.
