I had a cavalier SRi a few years back, loved the old girl, but the dreaded tin worm was hungry, and i couldn't keep up, especially when the springs came through the rear floor pan. Dandyp Posted October 5, 2020 Author Share Posted October 5, 2020 Hi Andy Yes it is its been a fantastic old girl i won it in an eBay auction paid £100 pound for it never thought it was going to last it looked like it had been grass track racing, i only serviced it once in the 11 years it was on the road and it only got washed twice lol drove it like i stole it, it just wouldn't die, it stood me in just over £300 in with buying it all the time it was on the road, so after 4 years off the road i decided to give it a birthday i totally stripped it to its bare bones put it on a rotisserie and got to work but i certainly wasn't expecting all the welding I've done, think if I'd have known don't think i would have started and yes the back end was the worst, started at the front subframe mounts, inner wheel arches remade front and rear floor pans, inner middle and outer sills, inner and rear wheel arches, then the dreaded rear spring seats and chassis rails, then came the mechanical side of of things ended up replacing or rebuilding everything just want a decent interior now which i have my on one at the moment lol, I'll upload some photos as soon as I get a chance Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
AndyR Posted October 5, 2020 Share Posted October 5, 2020 Hi, certainly sounds like you have having fun, my old cab was the 8 valve 2.0 Sri. Pulled like a Trojan, would probably still have her if it hadn't been for the rot. I'll see if I can find some pics of her too. It didn't owe me anything as my brother in law gave me two Cavs, one was a beaten up saloon, and the other was the Sri hatch. So I went for the hatch. Good luck with the rest of the rebuild.
