Hi, just reconnecting after a few years away, still driving an Agila auto transmission. The auto shift has got a little sticky and I am wondering how to check the oil level - could someone kindly point me in the right direction please? Supposing I need an oil change, what is the preferred oil and how much will I need? Will I need a filter? Questions, questions!!! Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.

Hi....welcome to the Forum

I would advise to take it into a transmission specialist who can diagnose the issue and it may well be that it needs a fluid and filter change which could improve the overall function of the gearbox operation.
Generally, the fluid and filter replacement would not cost too much money and will definitely give longevity to the transmission

Thank you for your advice which is good, sensible help. I will be sensible myself for a change and let a specialist have a look at it. Have a good day.

Hi ,  on the subject of auto transmission oil.

My Astra Club 1.6 auto, the dipstick is next to the engine one, I know you don't just check it like you do the engine, is there a set sequence to doing the gearbox oil. In my Datsun Bluebird you had to get to running temp, and then go through the gears from Park to Low, and then back to Park. Is this the same on Vauxhalls??

Regards Andy.
