  2. Only thing I can think of is matching clutch driven plate to the input shaft splines to suit the new gearbox.
  3. I can imagine the old one is a good quality battery but tired and the new one may be defective

  7. Hi Carl.....welcome to the Club Have you tested the alternator for output...should be around/just over 14 volts. If providing specified current/voltage then I would suggest that the battery is defective (albeit a new one). Had this in the past where a customer went off to get their own battery and fitted it but not keeping a charge. Told him to take it back as it was a cheap one and spend a bit more money on a premium battery.....you can tell the difference in the same size battery by the weight of it....cheap one is a lot lighter as not much lead inside. You get what you pay for sometimes! Let us know what you find
  8. shouldn't have a fuse on speaker wires as no large current in the wires. I would run a continuity test on the wires to see if they are intact or if there is a break somewhere or even or connection block in poor condition or loose connections

  13. Door card of to see whats happening then I guess.....once off then at least you can see if there is any adjustment available
  14. Could only therefore be the connections or the wiring to the rear speakers unless it goes through an Amp or similar

Hi Cliff.....welcome to the Forum I wonder if it is to do with the window auto dropping as it is a convertible as most convertibles do this to ensure the window doesn't foul the roof when the door is opened and closed. More than likely the door is not being sensed as being closed and the window has not raised itself to seal to the roof. Try opening and closing the drivers door and see if the window winds up the last few centimetres and if so then there is a fault with the passenger door sensor

  19. Hi Andy I would be tempted to drain and refill the transmission oil. Usually there are two plugs.....the lower one being the drain and slightly higher up is the refill/level plug. I would assume they would be on the outer side of the box near the diff.
  20. I would check the gear oil level to ensure it is to the correct level and if in doubt then replace the fluid
  21. Hi Andy...glad you resolved the issues with simple maintenance and nothing too drastic or expensive. Twin electrodes would not really make much of a difference compared to new single electrodes, just last longer thats all. Glad the oil was not washed down but sounds like it was old oil and struggling to circulate the engine....hence the oil pressure light. Now you can sit back and enjoy the Astra and probably a better MPG as well Cheers, Trevor

Hi This does appear to be a common problem with the engine ECU not clearing stored processes and the method used to clear this is to remove the battery leads from terminals, flash them together for about 20 seconds, wait for about two minutes and reconnect. See if this works and if so, you may need to carry it out each time it stops starting

  24. Not a bad call with bypassing the air conditioning compressor....have done it before and was just a case of finding the correct size belt to work successfully without slipping or walking off. Do you find many Gloworms nowadays? Cannot remember the last time I saw one, but it was on a night manoeuvres with the Scouts so that was a lifetime ago.
