  1. It could be air in the system or a worn clutch cover diaphragm Worth trying to select 2nd gear and then shifting to first.....happened a lot on older french cars and was a good way of selecting reverse or first gears
  2. Radiator pressure cap may have failed and not allowing the pressure to build up without releasing it....try replacing that first
  3. Eurocarparts are usually very cheap for replacement alternators especially when they release a massive discount code
  4. Hi....welcome to the Club I would definitely change it as the cost to rectify the damage will be 10 times that of replacing it before it has broken. You should be able to get it cheaper if you shop around and ensure that all components such as tensioners, idler pulleys, water pump, etc are changed at the same time
  5. There are a few listed here for 2016 models https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313&_nkw=2016+vauxhall+insignia+debadged+front+grill&_sacat=0
  6. Hi Paul.....welcome to the Club I'm sure the dealership could supply one but at a cost no doubt. Alternatively, a local breakers yard may result in some success
  7. Agree with AndyR especially as the mornings are getting a lot colder now, this is when the battery will deliver the power to where it is needed most and some sub-systems fall a little further down the scale
  8. Hi....welcome to the Club I would suggest as it is now a 5 year old car that serviceable components such as fuel filter and spark plugs would need replacing (if they have not already been done in advance) and see if the performance and economy return. start there and see how you get on
  9. Have you tried swapping components from cylinder 3 to cylinder 2 and seeing if the fault swaps cylinders on the scanner. At least then you can eliminate the components or not. Also, check its not the injector or wiring at fault
  10. Not so sure its that simple as you would need the external aerial and also the system would need to be coded to the vehicle on the CanBus. Maybe a better option to buy a TomTom and also cheaper to update than Vauxhall system
  11. I'm sure that is the correct procedure.....have you tried it yet?
  12. any news update on when it will arrive?
  13. Great news about the MOT and also the auto trans should be smoother now with a couple of fluid changes....can't do much more than that to keep the old girl in good running order 🙂
  14. That's an odd one Andy, certainly has a date of 1997 but would have been hanging around somewhere for many years before being fitted to your car. Which is odd as I though cars were built with the 'just in time' method of parts supply
  15. How have you managed to get on with rebulding the engine?
  16. Hi Timbo.....welcome to the Club I believe there was a system to naming the different models over the decades but I have to admit I do not understand it either. A little before my time and I really started appreciating Vauxhalls after the 1960's when most models were instantly recognisable, unlike today's vehicles which all pretty much look the same. Good luck with your research and let us know how you are getting on with it all
  17. Try pre-filling the slave cylinder if it has lost fluid and also the same with the master cylinder. If no fluid has been lost then try vacuum bleeding as it will be air in the master which can't get through to the slave by the sound of it
  18. Also worth checking the coolant expansion cap (radiator cap) is up to par if not then replace (should be about £10) but be aware if you fix this and it increases the pressure (which it should do) then it could blow other weak cooling system components
  19. Thank you for posting up this very useful guide on replacing the glow plugs. I have a feeling (going by the fact that there is a lot of mention of it being a very cold winter this year) that there will be a lot of glow plug replacements being done this year
  20. Maybe it is the size and type of files (e.g. MP3, WAV, etc) Useful link to determine best method of files used https://www.google.com/search?q=music+file+formats&rlz=1C5CHFA_enGB830GB831&oq=music+file+form&aqs=chrome.0.0i512j69i57j0i512l4j0i22i30l4.4526j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
  21. pulling the fuse may also affect other circuits. It may be worth just removing the bulbs in the interim to diagnose whether this is the cause
  22. I would be tempted to get some new ones, try Autodoc as had some struts (for another car) from them before and keen prices
  23. Glad you got the starting issue sorted, what did the fault turn out to be? Interior lights....would check the power to the one side of the fuse and if nothing then power the other side with 12 volts to see if this illuminates the bulbs
  24. Hi Stickyhair .... welcome to the Club Good to have you onboard!
