red astra
Hi there, It's me again. Last time I asked on where to source the parts for Watts linkage. These arrive on weds. Has anyone done these b4? I have read the manual 2/3 times and it suggests doing it on axle stands. I was wondering if I remove the links on car ramps ( more room to work.)refit and tighten centre link bracket, connect the bars hand tight and lower to ground, jack up and remove wheels and tighten bars at required torque ensuring trim height are correct. Would this be acceptable or is it better to do it on stands. Only got a low lift jack which would be a tight squeeze. Another question... Do I need to remove exhaust or is it possible to get away without doing this? Any help would be really appreciated Edited September 25 by red astra Missed a part out
Vauxhall Owners Club
It sounds like it would be better on ramps as the vehicle will be sitting at the correct ride height (suspension loaded) when you go to torque the bolts
red astra
Thought so as well. Just Mr haynes says to set trim heights between wheel arch and centre hub b4 torquing bolts.
