FynnBolingbroke Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 So for about a month now my Meriva B has been having issues when I put the car in gear after sitting whilst I'm at work or overnight. Attempting to put it in reverse gives off a loud crunching sound with a lot of resistance from the gearstick and there's resistance but no grinding when moving it to the other gears. Once its moving, i don't have any issues at all for example when I get to work after driving for about 30 minutes I can go into any gear perfectly fine but if I leave the car for 6+ hours I have the same issue. I've tried pumping the clutch a couple of times, shifting quickly into a forward gear and back into reverse, topping up the clutch fluid and letting it sit for a while before putting it in gear but to no avail. What confuses me is that it had it's MOT and service on Monday and nothing was picked up then. Any help would be appreciated, I'm pretty lost!

Vauxhall Owners Club Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 It sounds like the clutch is dragging which means the driven plate is being slightly grabbed by the pressure plate and not being completely disconnected from the rotating flywheel A poor quality clutch kit can do this and does get better when hot
