Lights around electric window switches remaining on

Hi Guys 

My father-in-law has just purchased a Carlton estate. When he locks the car the lights on the electric window switches remain on. Is this normal?

Hi.....not sure about the switches

For safety reasons I can see why they would illuminate to show a way of escape in the dark if the doors could not open (possibly) but should power down once the ignition is switched off I would think?
