im Australian Vauxhall rebranded Holden Astra owner... 2006, always been reliable but last few years starting issues.  I had an auto electrician at caringbah who alleged he had to insert a new steel mount on the battery because it was too close to the engine, he also gave me new keys... but starting problem remained.  A few years later and two more trips to a different auto electrician and problem remains.  Sometimes it starts sometimes it takes ten minutes messing about with the key.  Please help it's otherwise a reliable car and suits my budget to keep it. Hi Jodhi....welcome to the Forum

Does the engine turn over when you turn the key or just not fire up the engine?

Crank sensor comes to mind if the engine does not fire up.
