Hi there, can you see where it is supposed to be connected to, and is it coming from the radiator, or the thermostat?

Hi Jammgiee, what engine are you running? If its the 1.6 8 valve, then you have to remove the coil pack, as it sits below it. I have the 1.6 16 valve, and it is at the front drivers side going in to the thermostat housing. I've just seen a video that shows that it could be just below the top hose beside the timing belt cover. Hope these ideas are of help. Let us know how you get on. Regards AndyR

Yes so much positivity. Its always a great help. Which is better than my brother-in-law and his doom and gloom approach to everything. Will be ordering parts this week. So hopefully can get it done in the nice weather, and get a good tan in the process. Always looks nice after a wash.

Well it never rains, but it pours. As the saying goes. I have just recently replaced all the front suspension on my daughters Micra, and now I've got to do my own car. Marvelous.............. Coming home from town the other day, and there is a rattle and a clatter under the car coming from n/s front wheel. Turns out the front spring broke, and the noises I heard were the part of the spring dropping out. So I now have a slightly lower front end. I had every intension to replace all the suspension parts, but I was going to do it slowly over the summer. Well that plans changed. So I shall be ordering new springs, and the top bearings this week, and ticking that job off. Wish me luck. I will keep you all updated as it all goes together. I have a feeling that it might be the original springs that are being replaced. If so, they haven't done bad for 21 years. (sorry about the writing being in 2 colours, I don't know what I've done).

Sounds like an interesting read. I've had one or two over the years, and I know my father was a Vauxhall man in his younger days. I've made a note of website, and will have a look later.

Hi Lincoln, have you tried Tesco vehicle insurance? My father was quoted £800 for his car, so I shopped around for him and Tesco dropped it to £320. Might be worth going on-line and getting a quote, if you haven't already. Regards Andy.

Hi Chris, and welcome to the forum. That's a clean looking Vectra you have there. I had the Cavalier SRi that was same shape as the Vectra A. And that went really well. Sorry to hear that your camper is in storage so far away. I am surprised that the RAC wouldn't recover you home, I have always used them, as a preferred recovery service, and never had any issues. Hi Mick, I would imagine that it all depends on their supplier, and availability of stock. Also having the weekend the day after putting it in the garage could cause a delay on deliveries. Hope you don't have to wait too long to get your car back. Regards Andy.

Hi there , I just had a listen, and it sounds like something is either dragging on the road, or rubbing on another moving part. Have you checked to see if there is a cover or guard over belts and pulleys in the engine bay that might have come adrift.

Looks like this, but without the horse shoe shaped hole.

There is a hole that fits snug around the valve.

Hi all. Ever since I bought this car, it has an EGR that is giving me problems. I have replaced it several times, tried blanking it, and even left it swinging in the breeze with a blanking plate covering where it is fitted to the engine. I get the system reset to clear the fault code, and the EML goes out. Here comes the big BUT.... After about 30-40 miles it comes back on again. Car runs fine, with no spluttering or sooty smoke. MOT tester said that emissions are fine, and he cleared out the stored fault codes which are all pointing at the EGR being faulty. What ideas does anyone have as to how I can cure this problem once and for all. The EML light and I are becoming best friends as its been on so long. I only notice it when it goes out. Hi Jimbo, I would say that you would be needing the code for the replacement radio, as codes are normally personalized to each unit. The replacement unit might have it written on it somewhere, if not it may require getting in touch with your local Vauxhall dealer to see if they can find it for you. Hope this is helpful. Andy.

Evening Ken, welcome to the forum. I would suggest that your best option would probably be to try a local main dealer, they would be able to bring up on their system the details for your Vectra. I do agree with your point about cars are now computers on wheels, at least way back when, cars were easily fixable on the side of the road. Bring back those days. AndyR

Yes springs can de dangerous things if they slip out of the compressors. I replaced the rear shocks and springs on my astra last year, luckily I could borrow some spring compressors off my brother-in-law. I always treat springs with respect. Yours will look sweet once done. I stayed standard.
