laurdan62 Posted February 12, 2012 Share Posted February 12, 2012 Hi all, 2007 2.2 Auto Zafira.17k hardly used,this is owned by my father in law, we currently have an issue (we cos its me he brings it to when he has any problems,bless him..grrrr) when the car is started up,in park,the Brake lights are on, and stay on for several minutes or miles,not sure which before they go off! If i take it a run down the road,when i return the light are working as normal? This is really puzzleing me, i have done the usual ,checked all the fuses,bulbs(single filament) pulled out all the relays and replaced them,even disconnected the battery for 20 mins,as I wondered if the ECU unit was causing an issue so thought this may reset it...nothing worked, i even had half the dash out to check the brake light switch on the bulkhead,that is operated when the brake pedal is deppressed,this appeared to be ok, but what I found strange was if I pulled off the twin cabled connector from this brake switch...me thinking the lights would go out...they didnt, they stayed on..so that has really thrown me now, Im at a loss as to what it can be... if all else fails.. we may end up taking it into a VX garage..but then were really going to be at there mercy then regarding cost wise!I beleive the rear lighting is controlled by the CAN BUS sytem? is this where the fault lies??
