Hi folks, just another new member here...name's Phil 

Bought my 2011 SRi VX line Sports Tourer when it was 6 months old and still have it and it's been mainly trouble free coming up to 102,000 miles.

Used to take it to the garage to get serviced but have learnt to do that myself and also have tackled brakes, EGR valve cleaning and a couple of known issues like boot lid switch etc. Worst so far was a Stabilitrak error so changed the ABS sensor but it turned out to be the ring inside the hub, so changed the hub. 

Changed gearbox oil this morning and aligned the linkage for the first time whilst I was waiting for the oil to go in, gear changes were getting a little harder so hopefully not the start of something major

Nice to hear that you've turned to home maintenance, it certainly can work out cheaper in the long run, and you get the satisfaction of knowing that you managed to tackle that awkward lock, or replacing those worn out brakes. I have always done my own work, it might sometimes take longer than a garage would. But it gets done at a steady pace.
