Barry Brown Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 I have a 2018 Grandland X 1.2 ltr and now finding that it is using excessive oil. I had a cambelt change 11 months ago costing £2066.00 paid for by Vauxhall since then it maybe coincidental but the engine oil use has become an issue. Since my last service including engine oil and filter the car has done 1400 miles and my low oil light is coming on. Since the major repair 11 months ago the vehicle has done 5697 and Im on my third gallon of oil. Diognostic checks showed no issued so now have to drive the car for 600 miles and take it back for re assessment to the main dealers. Just wondering is anyone else having excessive oil use. Quote
Alun Nicholas Posted April 8, 2024 Posted April 8, 2024 I have a similar problem with my 2019 Crossland X. It has done 35000 miles and a possible new engine has been suggested. This can`t be right Quote
Lanky Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 I have recently purchased a 2018 Crossland with 54000 miles seems high oil usage. 3000 miles no light came on dipped the oil, not showing on dipstick. Quote
EddThatch Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 Hi, did anyone get anywhere on this? I have a Vauxhall Crossland X (18 reg) and have had a p0420 code for a while, have had various things replaced including cat converter, sensors, spark plugs etc. Last thing we had done was the cam belt (which I am told is a wet belt) as it needed doing. Since this though the car has been drinking oil, as in a whole tank full in the last 1500 miles. The mechanic has suggested it could be piston rings. Just wondered if anyone managed to get answers? Thanks Quote
Rosa Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 (edited) My 2019 Crossland (53,000 miles) has had similar issues, engine lights on, oil level down and displaying P0420 code which Haldords said I need to change the catalytic converter and oxygen sensors. Will that solve the problem? Should I take it to Vauxhal and ask for the wet timing belt to be changed? Edited September 17, 2024 by Rosa Quote

PaulD Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Hi all - I had this since I bought the car in January. Took it in last week and it turned out the sump cap seal had degraded. I'm assuming mine was one of the simpler resolutions? Quote
Malk Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Hi, I’ve got a 2018 crossland 1.2 non turbo with 60k and I need a new engine due to burning oil. Garage did not have one good word to say about wet belt engines. Quote
Sarahju Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Did anyone get the problem sorted of excessive oil usage, i have a 2019 crossland x full service history from vauxhall aart from the recent service in February however have been having issues with oil usage since September last year, just has lid, gaskets and cap changed 10 days ago and oil refilled but light back on this morning only got 44000 on clock Quote
Paul Cowley Posted Thursday at 07:33 AM Posted Thursday at 07:33 AM Ive recently brought a Vauxhall Grandland and have only had it since Feb 2025. Ive had consistant issues with the oil light coming on over and over again. Ive taken it to the garage on four occasions and they consistancy keep filling the car up with oil. The garage say there is nothing wrong with the car but I still keep getting this oil light coming on. Its been an absolete nightmare from the day I purchased it. Ive complained about this but the garage dont want to know basically because their is not a fault reading but it still doesnt come to the fact that im still getting issues on an on going basis. Im extremely frusterated with this because the car costs alot of money, plus the inconvience of me having to continuely taking it back to the garage on a number of occasions. Its a disaster purchase so far Quote

We purchased in April last year and it’s by far the worst Vauxhall I’ve ever owned. engine fault light came on previously and a huge oil issue, oil changed, and no less than 4 months later light is on again and another bottle of oil. My dip stick was dryer than the Sahara. 70 plate crossland x 48,000 miles. really want to just give the car back and track down my old car again because this is beyond a joke of a car now. Quote
