Hi all

Please could you help??

I'm new here – posting – but I have been using the site for a long time

I have an issue with my Insignia 2.0 diesel

I have had diagnostics done and there is an air leak to the diesel. The car is running fine, but there is a leak in the engine bay and the mechanic said it was diesel

It looked more like oil at first and he said it was, but after running the car and he checked again, he was sure it was diesel. I'm concerned it's dark in colour because it's mixing with oil!

Neither of two mechanics seem interested in sorting/finding the problem!

It isn't leaking much at all, and we both agreed it was going from the silver plate in the images attached

He hasn't got back to me with further information or a price, he isn't interested in fitting a simple seal

He called it the diesel pump, can any of you confirm this? I'm hoping it's just a seal/oring at the rear but is it as simple as that? And do you know where I could get the seal, or the component name?

A couple of photos are pointed around it to show the leak, it's the 2mm silver plate located above the EGR cooler tank

Thanks!20230418_192752.thumb.jpg.726cfa675732a14702575c93f8086c19.jpg20230418_192752.thumb.jpg.726cfa675732a14702575c93f8086c19.jpg20230418_192752.thumb.jpg.726cfa675732a14702575c93f8086c19.jpg20230418_192743.thumb.jpg.135ce3e9bccae8e0b0304a5a9ab0f839.jpg

Well it looks like there is a piece of the yellow plastic broken off so this pipe is probably leaking at the union
You can tell if it is a diesel leak as it will smell strongly of diesel whereas oil does not tend to smell that much (unless it is being burnt)

I would advise you to go to your local Vauxhall dealership to price up a new plastic pipe (show them these photos) and then either get them to fit it (shouldn't take long) or take it to another garage to have fitted.
If it is leaking diesel fuel then do not delay as this can be a dangerous situation if the leak worsens
