  1. Thank you for that irmscher. Its been bugging me for quite some time now. It would also explain why the speedo is very erratic when I first pull away of a morning. Looks like I'll be sorting out a new bearing in the new year. Thanks again, and Merry Christmas. Regards Andy
  2. Hi there, is there any trapped or broken wires in the loom going into the door, and is it just the one door giving you problems.
  3. Oh yes, your mind of Knowledge will be sought of by all concerned. Welcome aboard. I could probably think of some questions for you, but not tonight.
  4. Hi and welcome to the forum. Nice to hear of another Astra fan. I am on my second Astra G, and absolutely love them.
  5. Regular services, and a bit of tlc, and it should last the course. I'm doing about 80 miles a week so not too bad, used to be best part of 200 whilst kids were in high school.
  6. Hi there, and welcome. No you're not the only Vauxhall lover. . I too have an Astra, but mines a little older. 2002 Astra G 1.6 club. Although I am the 5th owner, it has only been with 2 families. Mine being the 2nd. She has just clicked over 230,000 miles, so not doing too bad. Regards Andy
  7. Hi Les, I have just been watching some videos on fuel filter replacements on Corsa's of your year. They have shown that it is under the bonnet. Either behind the air filter, at the back below the windscreen. Or beside the brake fluid reservoir. Hope this helps. Regards Andy.
  8. Hi Davep, glad to hear you got your vxr sorted. Obviously being a higher spec motor it prefers the e5. My old girl seems to prefer the e10. As I mentioned in previous posts, it was splutters and sluggish for a bit, but a good service, and she seems happy again. Just recently did a trip of nearly 300 miles, and she returned 59.6 mpg, at a steady 60mph. I must be doing something right.
  9. Well I've been back on the car investigating where this wire goes. And it is connected into the back of the bearing. I've managed to get some pictures so people can voice their ideas. This is not on the offside front wheel, only the nearside.
  10. Hi Rob, It could be that yours is the only one still registered on DVLA website, as others may have been stored away somewhere, or broken for spares. If your Carlton is the last one, then you have a very valued car. Let's see some pictures of your Carlton. Andy.
  11. Hi Cozzo, and welcome to the forum. There is bound to be someone who will be able to help with your minor issues on here. I am more Astra G, but i am still getting stuff throwing me a curve ball. Other owners on here have come up with various ideas, all very helpful. So feel free to ask away. Maybe post pics of your Insignia too. Andy.
  12. I believe that it is attached to the wheel bearing assembly. I will get under there in the next day or so, and have another look, also I'll get some photos and post on here. I know that it is clipped to the inner wing, and has a joining plug which is coloured grey. Pictures that I have seen of a wheel bearing for the mk4 Astra, show it as being an ABS sensor. But my car doesn't have ABS. I see a camera in my future.
  13. Hi Dean, you will probably need someone with an OBD2 reader to clear out the fault code, which should then extinguish the warning light. And hopefully it should stay off. Regards Andy
  14. Hi there, the Astra you are looking for sounds like a very special car. Not only in the sentimental value to yourself, but also being kitted up the way you described. According to the DVLA website, it is on a SORN, and they have no details of an MOT. It also shows that the last log book issued was 5 January 2006. You might find that someone has it in their garage, and are going to get it back out on the road at some point. Good luck in your search. Hope you can find the old girl.
  15. The wire is connected into the back of the bearing assembly. There are no other wires to pads. Didn't know if it was anything to do with speedo???
  16. Just getting things cleaned up to do shock on drivers side, and I have noticed that there is no wire going to the back of the wheel bearing, but there is on the passenger side. It's a non abs car, so I was wondering what the wire does on the passenger side. All help welcome on this one. TIA Andy
  17. That is the plan mate. The shocks are being done now, but due to financial reasons, the wishbones will be done at a later date, but not very late. Like you say, once done, it's a job that will hopefully outlast the car.
  18. Well I have finally managed to get to work on my own car, now daughters is sorted. Update on the broken spring, is that it's not broke. The shock on the other hand has died. Hence why the spring was so squished down. So new shocks on order, and as I already have new springs and bearings, the whole front end will get a well deserved overhaul. Checking on records of car history, there is no record of any work being done to suspension legs. So I'm guessing there all original. Which isn't bad for 229,800 miles. On looking at wish bones, they are a bit floppy, so I see these being replaced too. At least the sun's out.
  19. I wonder if this would be the same on the mk4 (G) as well. Might have a look tomorrow.
  20. It is definitely a car that will stand out in a crowd. It looks longer, and sleaker.
  21. Hi Dean66, and welcome to the forum. Hope you are enjoying your Insignia.
  22. Hi Steve, and welcome to the club. We hope you enjoy your Crossland x, as always there is someone about who can try to answer any questions you might have. Feel free to post pictures too. Regards Andy.
  23. Hi there, have you tried local motoring car shops, or maybe ebay. I've found that taking a picture of what you need then google or ebay, and compare images to see what comes up closest. There might be a generic part out there somewhere. Regards Andy
