  2. Probably need an EVAP smoke machine test to see where the leak is. if its windscreen then they need to pay for the EVAP... if its only started since the window then I would be pointy fingers You might be able to buy an EVAP Smoke test and do it yourself.. have seen a kit years ago.
  3. Took our first long drive (87 miles) in our 2011 Astra J today and I must say the car was a pleasant place to be , queit smooth , free of Drama , radio with TA now and again. We had sat the car since Dec 19th last year with a handful of small 2 to 3 mile drives , so I was pleased to give a run out, get a bit of charge into that battery. Steve

  5. Hi everyone. My name is Richard and I’m based in Bristol. I used to work for Welch’s, the main Vauxhall dealer many years ago in the early 80s as a salesman and developed a passion for 80’s Vauxhall’s which has never left me. I now am fortunate enough to own a Low mileage gorgeous Mk 1 Astra GTE 3 door in polar white, unmolested and completely original, a Mk2 Astra GTE 16v, same colour, very low mileage, again completely original and pretty much concourse throughout plus have just completed a full nut and bolt restoration to a 1985 Nova Sport with a mere 47,000 miles. This car is near enough identical to when it was delivered to the dealer new, other than it has the X 17 uprated camshaft which was manufactured in Sweden specifically for Irmscher and an option at the time. They are all driven and not just showpieces.

  7. Hello All. Glad to be part of this group
  8. Hi everyone, Firstly, thank you for accepting my request to join. A little about me, I’m Craig from Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. My father worked in the local Vauxhall dealer on the island (McKirdy & McMillan) and I spent most of my younger years (1990 - 1998) growing up in amongst Cavaliers, Astras, Novas, Corsas and Carltons. The owner, Jim McMillan and I had a sort of bond and I had the utmost respect for the man and we became good friends despite the massive age gap. He had a white Senator CD annd it was sheer luxury. I still remember the reg no. It was G475 VGD. I loved that car. Unfortunately he took ill and the garage closed down in 1998 and he passed away in 1999 when I was 15. My apprenticeship was served in the local Ford dealer (W. & J. Duncan) then I worked in the Local Renault Dealer (Rothesay Motor Services) before going to work for my Father-in-Law full time driving his cattle float. I’ve owned a few Vauxhalls over the years, a Nova SR, Cavalier CD and two Cavalier LS and after not having owned one for around 20 years I’m starting to look for another Cavalier, Calibra, Vectra or Astra Will see what’s available when I’m actually ready to buy . Looking forward to having a good look around the forum and I’ll probably be looking for some help and advice in the near future.
  9. Hi, I have a 2014 Insignia 2.0 CDTI ELITE, it has the Bi-xenon lights, I’m having the dreaded condensation problem getting inside the headlight, however recently the near side headlight has started making a grinding or clicking noise. After several seconds of it doing this - it points itself left into the hedge. In response I lose full beam controls and the error codes “Headlight levelling malfunction” and “Advanced front lighting”. Does anyone know if there is anyone trustworthy on repairing these, as I have seen a few listing on ebay with each account almost slagging the other off. A new headlight, if can find the correct one is well over £800+.
  10. Thanks for reply i will have to go searcing again .saw video of pvc valve on peugeot puretech engine but valve is not in same place on vauxhall puretech

  18. Here is what I found on a google search On a 2020 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2, the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve is generally located near or integrated into thetop of therocker cover(valve cover), often found at the end of a vent hose leading from the engine. It's a small, sometimes cylindrical component that controls crankcase vapor flow and is a common replacement item for rough running or oil issues, identifiable by its hose connection and placement on the engine's top.

  20. Hi all wife has a 2020 corsa F 40,000 miles . Tought of checking, cleaning or replacing PVC valve can anyone pin point where this valve is located please 1.2 PureTech engine. Saw video on puretech peugeot 2008 but the valve on corsa is not in the same position Any help greatly appreciated
  21. Not entirely sure if it is a direct fit. It may be better to get a TomTom or similar as they update regularly using WiFi so its always current information and can transfer to other cars as well
  22. I have come across this before but cannot remember the relearn process unfortunately. I would suggest to take a look at the connections down on the pedal and see if there is any damage or dirt collecting in the area. As it seems to be a current fault and is intermittent then quite possibly the connection is loose or some wiring is damaged.

  24. Does anyone have any idea how to reset/relearn the throttle idle position? I keep getting engine repair light randomly and ODB error P2176 - Generic Throttle Actuator Control System Idle Position Not Learned. The engine is responsive and there's no loss of performance, sometimes is goes by itself, other times I just reset it... 19 plate Crossland 1.2 petrol turbo.

My 65 plate 1.4 turbo Sri has no sat nav. If I buy a used Vauxhall sat nav complete with dash trims from a donor car, is it a straight swap? (will it work)

  31. If it is running fine and no drop in the coolant level then it should be okay - obviously when the weather starts to get warm then it is worth checking the fan to ensure its working okay
  32. Earlier
  33. Coolant level is fine, just driven 50 miles all ok, I can see the level through the new expansion tank I fitted as the old one was very dirty.
  34. Well I guess if it is not overheating and the heater is blowing warm then as long as the coolant level doesn't drop then it should be fine. There may still be some air in the system but that will always work its way up to the expansion tank eventually.
  35. I am using the secret settings/BC button to get a temperature on screen as the B has know temperature dial on the dash(silly). I have just changed the radiator and temperature gets in the nineties before a slight drop (no fan) thermostat must open, cold weather stopping the fan kicking in after around 10 minutes ticking over?
  36. I would to.. also make sure its a good one too. fast charge phones etc.
  37. I would be tempted to remove the socket and replace with a USB charger sock instead. If you are replacing the assembly then it doesn't matter about damaging what remains of the socket to remove it.
  38. No, that is as it should be - the only time the pulley 'locks up' is when the pump is energise and locks into place when you switch the air con on. You will know if it is working as the engine revs will drop and the engine will sound laboured and also an audible click/clunk noise will be heard
  39. My first thoughts were the belt tensioner being worn but you can see if this is happening because it will 'walk' towards the edge of the pulleys as soon as you run it up. Also look for any signs of a specific area that it is walking off - could be main crank pulley, Air Con, water pump, alternator, etc. This should give an indication of where the misalignment is present - sometimes known it to be some grit up behind the mounting bracket causing it to be misaligned.
