AndyR started following Vauxfest 2025
-
Hi all. Are there any members thinking of heading to Vauxfest this coming weekend? Stonham Barns Suffolk. Should be a great weekend for all vauxhall,Opel and Bedford fans. I'm hoping to be able to head down for one of the days. There are trade and club stands this year. So should be more interesting. So get those vehicles polished up, and show your pride and joys to the Vauxhall community . AndyR.

Headlight Condensation Remedy - for now
Pablothetrucker replied to Jacksbark's topic in Vauxhall Insignia Club
I did the same with my old corsa. Worked a treat and no recurrence either! -

Hello all. My 1.4t SE has just developed a liw level rhythmic thrumming sound when at idle, accompanied by a sort of "trickling" sound. Both seem to be behind the dashboard and I can't hear either from outside the car or from the engine bay. The "thrumming" seems to stop when A/C is switched on, and "trickling" stops after about 10 seconds. I suspect an A/C issue even though A/C seems to work very well, but before I spend £132 just getting vauxhall to have a look at it, wondering if anybody has any similar experience and/or advice please? Many thanks Paul (aka pablothetrucker)

Hello all, 63 yo truck driver, angler and newbie to Merivas, which I realky like for their practicality, flexibility and comfort. Recently bought my first one, a 2010 1.4t petrol which blew the head gasket within a month due to failure of a plastic pipe in a valve forming part of the cooling system. Too expensive to repair, so have now bought another meriva, with a full dealer history on it, and hoping to have more luck this time around! So far so good, we shall see.

So, my newly purchased 2013 came with ‘extreme’ condensation trapped within both headlight units. Being somewhat cheap and always seeking the easiest remedy to nearly everything, I settled on removing all three round covers in the rear of each unit … one about 70mm and the other two about 30mm. I just left these off for a couple of warm sunny days and overnight. Sure enough, all the condensation is gone (for now). No doubt there’s some kind of water leak/s in each unit … but I’ll sort that later. I did also pull off the ‘rubber’ seals on each cover and rolled them back on themselves … thus putting the compressed surface (after twelve years’ use) in the back and the nice new springy surface now the working seal surface. I also put a light coating of lithium grease on these new surfaces before reinstalling. We’ll see how it goes. Cheers.

Now that the old girl has a new lease of life. I thought i'd give her a clean up and add some stripes to break up that silver a bit. And she has just made another milestone. 240000 miles. Not bad for a 23 year old.

Lee at HALFORDS, Botley, Oxford has done two 522GWs for me … one in a 2007 Ford Fusion last year and one in a 2013 Insignia 5dr/hatchback just today. No problem at all. Great chap - knows his stuff. Don’t know where you are but if anywhere near Oxford Lee’s your man for this project to get it done right.

Crossland Ultimate Nav Folding mirrors???
hobsic25 replied to Paul Green's topic in Vauxhall Crossland & Grandland X Club
Mine has folding mirrors. Can be closed manually by putting the mirror adjustment lever l/r to the centre and moving it to the rear. It also closes automatically when the car is locked. -

Evening all, am I right in thinking that the 1.4t petrol engines are prone to head gasket failure? If so, are there any oreventative measures I can take beyond regular servicing? Thanks very much.

Hi,] I have popped onto here as I have a 2004 Corsa wait for it.....1.8SRI for sale. Not bad condition for age but not great either, it has been and still does run perfectly well but the MOT runs out the end of this month and I have bought my son a replacement car and I no longer have room for this classic rare 1.8 beast. It would be good as a doer upper and if anyone on here is interested I will provide pictures. Thanks Russell P.S. I am in Newmarket Suffolk.
