  2. It sounds like the system needs a reset at the battery, If it has recently been replaced then it may need coding with the new battery voltage which can usually be done with a half decent scan tool.
  3. If it were me I would concentrate on getting the lamp working rather than replacing the headlamp - it may be due to water ingress which has caused corrosion but the headlamp didn't fail on beam deflection so the reflector must be okay. The position lamp should be able to be replaced even if you had to run external wires to the bulb as an interim to get it working for the MOT test.
  4. maybe individual seals are available but otherwise if it is water ingress into the box then maybe silicon would be best to seal it - probably more effective and cheaper than new seals

  12. Hi buddy i have checked there is 14v going to the sockets. Looks like the main cigarette lighter holder is faulty. Do you know part numbers or where i can source some. Not looking to spend a fortune as im not sure how long i will have the car for thanx.
  13. Thought I'd introduce myself quickly. 2014 Insignia owner (two or three previous owners), very happy with it overall. Joined up to get help with a specific issue (I'm really not a car person so limited knowledge) but, after reading through some of the threads here, there's clearly a lot of very useful things to explore! I'm not likely to post much, I don't know anything useful about cars to share with you all!
  14. Good afternoon all, I've just had my 2014 Insignia fail its MOT due to "Position Lamp not working Nearside Front". They've not been able to say exactly why it's not working, but did mention that there had also been water inside the headlight. The rest of the lights in that assembly are working fine, from what they say. The garage is saying the headlight assembly needs to replaced and has confirmed the specific headlight needed is, "1ZT 011 166-731". The garage can't source one and it appears to be out of stock everywhere that I've looked, with one company saying they're not expecting to see any more before February, if at all. The scrappers I've talked to locally haven't got anything. I've found some second hand ones online but they are mostly out of my budget for the next few months for unrelated reasons! Does anyone know if this is something I, as a reasonably terrible DIY person with limited tools, would have any realistic chance of sorting out myself? I've seen some places (a few on eBAY) advertising a repair service that is within budget. Does anyone have any experience with these? To be honest they have the feel of "bloke in a shed" rather than an actual repair shop - though I accept that a talented bloke in a shed can still do a grand job!
  15. Hi....welcome to the Club some cars are going to be a pain from the beginning (my hate is VW) and are plagued with problems. sometimes you get a good one and sometimes a bad one (Friday - Monday cars). Good to have you onboard and hope you can resolve some of the issues
  16. I'm going on a hunch that the battery may not be up to the job....had similar on an Alfa Romeo and it was a choice between replacing the battery (which the existing one was good enough to run the car) or sit there for a while once the engine had started allowing the battery to recover slightly. See if it does the same thing, rather than turning the steering just let it sit there to see if that still works

  22. When i start my car, if i put it in gear straight away and pull away normally, all the lights come on and get a "stop the car", i let it sit, or do the turn steering full left and right usually corrects it. Anyone else have that problem ??
  23. Newbie 61 year old, had Vauxhalls since early 80s apart from an awful Ford Orion with a built in swimming pool on the back floor, and a worse Citreon Picasso. Now driving a Crossland turbo, and am not a fan, have faults that others on here are experiencing the same...sigh

  32. really need a sunny spell for a few days, see if it dries up or not. Keep heating up when testing to get the water going through the matrix. See what happens. Interested to find out how it goes. Let us know.
  33. Been out this morning to inspect every door seal and boot seal and nothing checked pipes in engine heater pipes all look ok so ive hoovered carpets wet and the dried because its started to smell if that doesn't work then I have no idea due a mot and service in January so I will ask my garage to have a good look underneath
  34. you will really know about it if it is, not just slight misting up when its turned up. you will get it more with heating up. Will smell slightly as well. Its been raining lately, a lot of it, still think its a water leak, to be honest I hope it is because you dont want heater matrix to be leaking. Door seals leak and are hard to find, my mother has leaking boot seal and never did get to the bottom of it.
  35. Been out today when I turn heater down low its steaming up so I dont no door seals look ok and windscreen in ok aswell im thinking its the heater matrix
  36. I think if it was heater matrix then you would get chronic condensation I bet its door seal. Easy fix and shouldnt be too expensive or windscreen seal
