Vauxhall insignia owner looking for advice
It should have beam levelling in some way shape or form but I would Imagine the codes are because some of the options such as HID headlamps aren't fitted so it flags the codes. It may be also that someone has swapped them over to Halogen as replacement HID lights weren't available or too expensive

always best to leave jobs like this to a day when its warm and dry - maybe July (if we're lucky enough to have another good summer this year) :-)

Oil consumption
Its a tough one as this can tend to happen quite a bit nowadays with short journeys and poor quality fuel which then leads to the engine clogging up with carbon, soot and various other contaminants. This is quite usual to consume more oil if the car is taken on a long run after a period of smoking it around town. The pistons rings tend to 'gum up' into the ring grooves on the piston and then when it is revving hard and good engine temperature the rings may release and make a better seal. Also, the oil should show signs of discolouring if the carbon level is high and the oil will blacken up with the soot. Much like the good quality fuel it is also very beneficial to have very good quality oil in the engine as well.

Problem downloading update
I think the audio system may need a firmware update to handle the new software updates - the dealer would want quite a bit of money to run the update but if there is a warranty on the car or you have only just bought it you may be able to swing a favourable outcome

2011 Astra , first night time drive
Thats really good to hear you had a pleasant and positive time on the inaugural run. They say every day is a school day and you're not the only one to suddenly find a function in you car a year later and think to yourself I never knew that was there, or if only I knew that before :-)

Reliable OBD
Thanks to your review of the scanner - they all seem to have a lot more functions now than just reading codes. I use an iCarSoft scanner and you can recode, reset, functions (such as force DPF), regular software updates and so much more for 10 makes of vehicle and around £130 to buy. I believe the TopDon is also of the same spec and great value for money

Reliable OBD
Coming late to the party, but unless you sorted it out, I got the Topdon AD600 from Ebay for £139, has loads of options and lifetime updates, not to mention you can use it on other brands as well, unlike other companies which sell them with car-specific coding (though to be fair those may pick up on more specific codes)

Proof of a long suffering car Modders wife.
So there we were parked up at the supermarket and I casually mentioned to the wife how the car might look even better lowered by 2inchs , she made "that face" and replied " you lower that car and I'm leaving you" just because I've modded a few cars in the past to get better stance and improved handling, might just lea e ot as it is then !

Astra headlights poor
Hiya, after my first night time drive last might in my 2011 Astra I felt the lights were not as bright as my previous lease car which was 2022 though I don't like the annoying trend for dazzling headlights that seems to be prevalent. I will try a set of those Halfords bulbs though, a little more light can only help.

2011 Astra , first night time drive
Hello, just completed our first might time drive in the car from London back to suffolk. Car was lovely well mannered and despite it taking me 2 full minutes before we set off to work out how to turn the headlights on!! ( I know, let me have it chaps ) and a 20 min traffic jam on the M25 car behaved perfectly , though we couldn't stop the heater getting the cabin very warm, no matter what setting we tried, but this is from a man who didn't k ow how to turn the headlights on ,a bit of manual swotting should sort that. Very pleased with this car so far.

Problem downloading update
I bought my Mokka last summer. I successfully managed one software & map update, but this one gets stuck: "Opel Update" software downloads OK software update downloads massive map update gets part way & stops - at roughly the same place each time Any thoughts? Is it possible to get the map update in sections or something? I have a reasonable "fibre to the cabinet" internet connection - no problem streaming several videos at once, for example, or participating in online meetings without a glitch.

Future vintage Vectra 2.5 V6 CDX Auto for sale - SOLD
What a shame. Decent Vectras are very hard to come by, especially high-spec V6 models. It’s unfortunate I didn’t come across your post sooner, the search continues! Thanks for your response. Have a nice weekend.
