  2. So, my newly purchased 2013 came with ‘extreme’ condensation trapped within both headlight units. Being somewhat cheap and always seeking the easiest remedy to nearly everything, I settled on removing all three round covers in the rear of each unit … one about 70mm and the other two about 30mm. I just left these off for a couple of warm sunny days and overnight. Sure enough, all the condensation is gone (for now). No doubt there’s some kind of water leak/s in each unit … but I’ll sort that later. I did also pull off the ‘rubber’ seals on each cover and rolled them back on themselves … thus putting the compressed surface (after twelve years’ use) in the back and the nice new springy surface now the working seal surface. I also put a light coating of lithium grease on these new surfaces before reinstalling. We’ll see how it goes. Cheers.

  10. Lee at HALFORDS, Botley, Oxford has done two 522GWs for me … one in a 2007 Ford Fusion last year and one in a 2013 Insignia 5dr/hatchback just today. No problem at all. Great chap - knows his stuff. Don’t know where you are but if anywhere near Oxford Lee’s your man for this project to get it done right.

  17. Evening all, am I right in thinking that the 1.4t petrol engines are prone to head gasket failure? If so, are there any oreventative measures I can take beyond regular servicing? Thanks very much.

  21. Hi,] I have popped onto here as I have a 2004 Corsa wait for it.....1.8SRI for sale. Not bad condition for age but not great either, it has been and still does run perfectly well but the MOT runs out the end of this month and I have bought my son a replacement car and I no longer have room for this classic rare 1.8 beast. It would be good as a doer upper and if anyone on here is interested I will provide pictures. Thanks Russell P.S. I am in Newmarket Suffolk.

  24. Back at the end of May, my 2014 Insignia failed its MOT due to the common condensation issue in the headlights, both sidelights stopped working. Everything I read online told me it would be difficult and expensive to find the right Xenon LED Adaptive Forward Lighting headlights. Came across Luke’s service by chance while browsing on eBay. After getting in touch on the 6th June, I was given a very reasonable quote, way cheaper than anything else I had found. Really liked the fact that I only needed to pay a £100 deposit to secure my booking. Even better, Luke was really friendly and understanding, and took the time to explain the whole process to me. Finally got the work done on 9th June, dropped the car off, then popped over to the nearby Asda for breakfast and coffee while they worked. Unexpectedly quick turnaround, I got a call not long after to say the car was ready to collect. Luke and the team fitted and programmed both headlights and gave me a 12-month warranty, which was great peace of mind. Having them sort this out so quickly really saved me from a lot of stress and hassle, other garages couldn’t even source the parts. Everything was handled professionally, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. Really recommend this service if anyone here is stuck with the same problem, genuinely brilliant experience with DJA AUTO INTERNATIONAL REDDITCH.
