  2. I have an issue with my Vauxhall 2025 Grandland GSE MHEV. The vehicle is less than a year old. After a few months of faultless motoring, the hybrid assist now fails to engage at all. It is as if the car has reverted to being a petrol-only engine. This is extremely frustrating as I feel I have paid for a vehicle that does not work. I have taken the vehicle into a Vauxhall dealership, and I have consulted the Vauxhall dealership where I purchased the vehicle from. Both the service centre and the original sales staff have drawn a blank. The service centre has been in contact with Vauxhall, after diagnostic reports have been shared with them, but there is still no update. Quite by accident, when switching on the windscreen de-mister (which turns on the air conditioning), the blue speed lights lit up, and hybrid assist was engaged, although intermittently. Since then, I have "played" with the AC buttons, both the windscreen de-mister and directly from the infotainment panel, and this seems to wake up the hybrid assist, but not consistently. I have shared this experience with the service centre, who told me they would feed this experience back to Vauxhall while we await their next steps. This experience should warn potential buyers away from the MHEV, as, so far, Vauxhall are clueless as to how to proceed. Obviously the vehicle is under its 3 year warranty still, and I have initiated interactions with the service centre inside 12 months from initial vehicle registration. Does anyone know how this matter can be resolved, or has anyone had this same experience? Should I be initiating requests for money-back?
  3. I have found out that if I have the aircon switched on (fan running) the car will run in hybrid mode (switching from petrol to electric running) so I travel with auto (aircon) switched on all the time.

  5. Thank you. Its the original from factory fit
  6. Hi and welcome to the Club I agree with Steve, too good to be scrapped - I would advise also to look for an independent garage with old time mechanics who could possible make something to improvise if you cannot source original parts. Worth also checking eBay and scrapyards for secondhand parts which should be fine

  8. Yes everything is absolutely original, with the exception of front seatbelts that dad had added in the 1990’s. If you look up Australia’s Great Race history, you will see this beautiful girl as the original winner of the first, inaugural race in 1960. My father is Frank Coad, sadly dad passed in 2021 and I purchased the vehicle from the estate to ensure it remains in the family as was dad’s wishes. Very proud of the amazing history this car holds in Australian motor sport. The cars had to be stock standard to qualify. The race was to show how the ‘everyday family car’ stood up to the ‘gruelling conditions of Australia’ over a continuous 500 mile race. She is special.

  10. I got the mirror replace, as taking off the old mirror , which was clipped in and removing the element cable from the spade connection and replacing the new mirror in reverse, where you connect the heating element cable and clipping the mirror back to the side mirror body. I did struggle ,where i broke the heating element spade cable, so when i had the MOT done, I asked the mechanic to fix it.
  11. Hiya , I'm not sure that I fully understand your instructions but thank you for posting such detailed instructions tonhelpnaolve this issue
  12. Hope it all goes well for you Gaz. Steve
  13. Hi Rog Glad you have found a solution . Steve
  14. Decided to go for wolfbox mirror with dash cams and reverse camera, seemed to be best option for me. Thanks for input though
  15. Purchased from Amazon the iCarsoft OP V2.0, which is apparently dedicated to Opel/Vauxhall cars by many reports. Many thanks to those for your input
  16. Hi Rob I Belive Auto Doc may do some online tutorials on servicing your model and year of car and also of course there will be some info on You Tube, everything seems to be on You Tube nowadays, it's like the Encyclopedia Brittanica of the modern day! All the best with it mate Steve
  17. No I'm definitely not resting my foot on the pedal. It happens only in wet conditions at 55mph. It then beeps every 10 seconds and even stopping and switching the car off does not resolve it. They have replaced the sensor twice and the clutch too and still the issue persists.
  18. It is in the ECU and it was damaged, vauxhall not a clue
  19. I would use a smoke generator to instantly find the source of the leak eBay link here Smoke Generator Ideal for finding exactly where water is entering
  20. If you would like to put this out to the club as you both live in the same region (Suffolk/Norfolk) and if enough members are interested then we can promote it and then get a club stand if you want?
  21. Hiya I had this exact issue with a car I used to own and it needed new wishbones , I'd suggest go to a garage you trust and have then price a repair for you. Steve
  22. @AndyR hows the old Astra's paintwork ? You're definitely close enough to drop by SteveH for a paint repair.
  23. It should be tags (metal clips on the lighter assembly) that would need pushing in to release the lighter - most cigar lighters are the same dimensions so you can pick up a charging port from Halfords for less than a tenner
  24. Hiya Thanks I will give the ambient sensor a try . Cheers Steve
  25. A breakers yard (not that there are too many around nowadays)...alternatively you could play the cross-referencing game which may lead you to the same motor that may have been fitted to other makes and models. Don't forget European market as they would have badged the Carlton as an Opel Omega back in the day so chances are there should be a good amount kicking around in EU eBay
  26. Hmm, not sure to be honest but if it works, my belief is leave it be - software updates usually mean you would have to update the firmware which will render the audio equipment as too old and cause problems. Aftermarket infotainment is a much better option and you can include updatable SatNav and lots of other features which your standard system won't have.
  27. It's now becoming rare to see cars with Halogen bulbs as most seem to be HID or LED lamps which are now becoming way too powerful for normal road use. Different if we lived in Sweden or somewhere where it is constantly dark, but on average well-lit UK roads, its a bit overkill. I think back to when they all had yellow bulbs in France, goodness knows what you could see with them but their cars were a lot slower then 😁
