  4. Hi....welcome to the Club some cars are going to be a pain from the beginning (my hate is VW) and are plagued with problems. sometimes you get a good one and sometimes a bad one (Friday - Monday cars). Good to have you onboard and hope you can resolve some of the issues
  5. I'm going on a hunch that the battery may not be up to the job....had similar on an Alfa Romeo and it was a choice between replacing the battery (which the existing one was good enough to run the car) or sit there for a while once the engine had started allowing the battery to recover slightly. See if it does the same thing, rather than turning the steering just let it sit there to see if that still works

  13. Using a Smoke Generator to fill the car with smoke and see from where it is coming out of the car - and there is your leak :-) Ebay Link
  14. Hi, I keep meaning to say thank you for your advise. We're a bit skint at the moment and the steering isn't playing up (touch wood), so we're saving up and hopefully get it in a garage ASAP. Thanks Ang :-)

  16. Have you checked all wiring to all sensors as a break in a wiring could cause this issue - see if it happens when the engine is running and you 'wiggle' the wires going to sensors and actuators
  17. Apologies for the delay, had a busy few weeks, and passed my driving test first time, its not a paddle shift.
  18. I can see what you are up against as so much conflicting information out there on the type of autoboxes that are available. If it were me I would clean the exterior of the areas I would be working in (e.g. bottom and side of the box. Warm the engine up but not too hot as the fluid could scold when being drained. With a drain tray underneath let the fluid drain into it and try not to lose any as you will have to measure the quantity of old fluid. If there haven't been any leaks then what comes out is what should be in there. Ensure you have plenty of fluid to fill the box and top up over the next few days. If you remove the sump or side cover then fit a new filter and gasket(s) and see how it goes after that. Also examine the fluid for colour and particles (metal, fibre, etc) and if it smells of burnt toast then the fluid has been heated by wear on the clutch plates.
  19. Same problem here updated after owning the car for a couple of days. To be fair the dealer managed to inspect the unit 3 days later & after consultation with Vauxhall techs have told me the unit is dead. The manufactures warranty on the vehicle runs out on the 30th November 2025 so waiting to find out if the cost will be covered. I have been told the unit itself costs £880 so fingers crossed.
  20. sorry, no I don't know but it would certainly worth trying them up for size if you could find the doors
  21. have you checked the boost sensor on the slam panel well know for making the noise you describe
  22. Damn display screen loaded as normal this morning, and again after a few restarts. No clue why the screen went black for a day or so.
  23. If it is just an O ring then I would go to a hardware or hydraulics store which should sell them but ensure they are black in colour as if they are any other colour it could mean they are made of Viton or some other material that is heat resistant. Maybe also worth applying some sealant or grease prior to fitting
  24. hi there thanks for that I will look it the things u said . there no water leak as fare as I can bin all over the engine with a tuch. no water .thank u for a your help.

  26. Hi...welcome to the club It's nice to see some connoisseurs like to look at the alternatives out there rather than jumping on the band wagon. The ST is a good car but there are equally satisfying cars out there at a fraction of a price as they are not rated by their badge. I owned a Rover 200LE 'BRM' - a limited edition (795 made for UK market) and it was and still is the one car I wished I had kept for its unique style (google the images of the Rover BRM) and was an homage to the racing cars from the nineteen fifties and sixties. There were many other 'limited editions' available at the time - Renault Clio Sport 'Williams Edition' to name just one - ANYONE ELSE ADD TO THIS LIST? but most of the time it came down to the badge and no one wanted to drive an 'old mans' car like a Rover, albeit not at all standard at all. Good to have you onboard and feel free to pop up some photos of your Astra GTC VXR
  27. Thanks for the welcome and when the weather clears up and I have cleaned the car I'll get some pics
  28. Owned from new - metallic silver with factory fitted full body styling kit + 19in alloy wheels (snowflake design). Additional spare alloy wheel (purchased when no longer being manufactured). 130,000 miles - still runs extremely well. Bodywork in reasonably good condition for its age. Serviced and MOT'd last month. Excellent tyres - all tyres purchased during this year. Genuine reason for sale - running costs now somewhat of a luxury with only doing approx 2000 miles a year - for some years now. Does need money spending on it due to following issues - Offside & nearside inner drive shaft joints severely deteriorated (MOT minor defects) Nearside rear brake pipe corroded (MOT monitor & repair if necessary - advisory) Alloy wheels (which make the look of the car) could do with refurbishment. Panel on drivers door that operates both front windows not working. Petrol cap disconnected from central locking system as solenoid needs replacing. Wiper motor/linkages need attention as both wipers sweep against/beyond windscreen rubber surround. Water ingress into front passenger footwell. Reason unknown - suspect it may be windscreen seal damage/deterioration (not visible) where wiper blade has swept onto/over the rubber seal. Car needs TLC from a Vectra enthusiast who has the skills to maintain it. It would be such a shame to scrap it as 2.0 SRi petrol variants aren't so common these days - the car genuinely looks good. All offers considered. Tel: 07733 359313.
  29. Sounds very much like a suspension link rod that senses the angle of the vehicle (e.g. loaded or not loaded) and adjusts the headlamps automatically The link is usually located on the rear suspension somewhere and usually made of plastic which is why they tend to break
  30. Wheels removed from my Vectra SRI XP purchased from new, due to firm ride and bad back after 2k miles replaced with 18” alloys. Wheels with low profile tyres stored in garage as new. Any sensible offer considered.
