  2. Hi, I have, 10 weeks ago purchase the same car, private purchase. The car has done 24,000. 6 weeks ago, I had to spent £3000 on new turbo, vacuum pump & solenoid. Now I have been told I need a new engine as the craft shaft is knackered. The car is out of warrantee but only 4 1/2 years old and super low mileage. Did you get anywhere with the ombudsman? Many thanks

  4. Just adding my wet belt issue to the list! Took out 4 Yr lease on Grandland X Sept 2021, on an "as new", zero mileage car 1st registered 6 months earlier. It arrived dirty and within 5 months needed a new gearbox!! Shortly after, some brittle plastic lattice under the bonnet had cracked, and the crack spread. It was attached to headlamp assembly, so needed new headlamp for the sake of some plastic! £700. Vehicle 1st called in for service 2024 and again in 2025. The latter was months before car would be returned under lease. Was told the wet belt needed changing. No Mot without change. Had to pay bill of £1200 because I had apparently missed a service - despite not being called in prior to 2024. I naively assumed earlier service would have happened when they had vehicle back for the new gearbox. It seems there is a common theme of playing games with servicing requirements in order to trip up customer and have them fund replacement of a known faulty part. I am awaiting response to complaint, but it is clear from the other posts that Vauxhall don't care. I am about to share my thoughts with What Car magazine - the motoring public should know about this.

  6. Guys, thank you for having me, anyone breaking an Astra K, looking to buy the complete floor carpet.
  7. Update on my mum's 2018 Vauxhall Crossland X, after an oil consumption test it's been found to have used 1 litre of oil for 585 miles. Topped up with 2 litres of oil today and the engine is now smoking badly and rattling. Perry's Doncaster advised that the car needs a new engine. 8 years old. Full main dealer MOT and service history. 61,354 miles on the clock and the engine is buggered. WTF?!
  8. Hi so I have a 2015 Mokka 1.4 turbo. Recently it has had a new turbo new water pump new radiator now I’ve found it has oil on the spark plugs. On the actual tip where it sparks. I’ve changed the plugs and cleaned out the chamber where the plug sits. But still they get wet, not absolutely soaking but enough to cover the tip.
  9. Couldn't find anything definitve but there may be some useful information in this link I found on another forum https://www.astrakforums.co.uk/threads/anyone-else-still-having-problems-with-the-forward-facing-camera.5486/
  10. A quality rated (UK specification) as if it breaks or anything else untowards then it would invalidate your insurance if damage is caused by the trailer, caravan, etc becoming detatched from the vehicle
  11. I would consider that as an option but also check the exhaust for leaks, blowing or hissing as this can affect the fuel/air ration
  12. A replacement mirror glass can be purchased to fit directly onto the existing one or for more money you can get a complete replacement glass Never use Superglue as when it hardens it will contract and break the glass
  13. I'm not sure but I mostly use Eurocarparts https://www.eurocarparts.com/ to identify whether they list a timing belt or chain for that particular engine. In this case there is no listing at all for either belt or chain - I would contact your local dealer and give them the registration or VIN to establish which one it is
  14. That's a bit of a strange one as that was what you used to have to do (sometimes) on an old car - leave the ignition on to charge the coil and then turn the engine over to start. Obviously diesel engines are the same with Glow Plugs. Please let us know how it goes and what is the outcome
  15. In respect of the service on an electric car compared to a traditional petrol/diesel engined car then it is vastly reduced in maintenance tasks and the above response from Vauxhall really does highlight how little work is required in a service.
  16. It is good that you are considering running on premium fuel as it does have a better calorific value that the E10 fuel which containing 10% Ethanol offers less performance per mile than a better quality higher octane rated fuel. Since running my older car (but not bikes) on E5 it makes a huge difference on performance and MPG. Not entirely sure what difference you will notice on a newer model like the Grandland but only one way to find out. When it comes to Shell and Esso I imagine they would be of similar quality but again its worth trialling each one to see the outcome
  17. Thanks for letting us know Lee....sometimes it is a leap into the unknown but pays off in the long run. Glad to hear you had the weltbelt replaced and seems very cheap for the job compared to a Ford
  18. It could well be turbo vanes gummed up and sticking which would restrict performance but I would strongly suggest a scan of the codes would reveal the true extent of the cause
  19. Hi Kevin....welcome to the Club You don't often see old Zafira's in that good condition! Good to have you onboard!

  22. Arden blue 2006 Zafira gsi with just over 100,000 miles. The car hasn't been driven since passing it's MOT in February. It now has a battery light which hasn't gone after installing a new battery. The headliner material is off. I've not got round to replacing it. But car can come with material and glue. Still runs and drives well. Well maintained with lots of paperwork. Has lowering springs but still a comfortable ride with no scraping. Unmodified otherwise. Feel free to call on 07572332397 if you want to see it.
  23. Can confirm the eBay ones work - did this myself recently. It was originally sticking a bit, but after a few minutes of pressing in and out it came free and now is flawless

  25. Down my narrow road, people speed by and often clip my mirrors when I've forgot to fold them in. So I now have on driver (offside) mirror the surrounding plastic has a big chip out of it. Does anyone know a way to repair this without buying a new assembly?. On the passenger (nearside) just the back cover has smashed off so need a new, colour coded one of those. I don't want to get a plain one and prime/paint it. Any good ideas?
