Rear springs on astra j type hatch 1.

Hi there, I 

Decided to replace all components on rear axle as car done nearly 100k miles and rattling a bit. 

Purchased read Rear springs from e bay. Appear coils are different. Larger and closer at 1 end. Queried this and was assured these were correct for the model and reg according to manufacturer. 

Now which way should the bigger and closer coils go. To the top or to the bottom. Would imagine if compressed the coils would rub off each other. unfortunately got to fit this weekend so a speedy reply would be much appreciated

Any ideas? Some say top some say bottom, others say so you can read pt no stamped on it.
