My first car was a GTE Convertible, I bought it in 1989. I loved that car! Having had to sell it when we bought our first house, I had to get my dad to deal with the sale as I couldn't watch my car leave with the new owner. My dad passed away soon after, We had bought our cars at the time together, He had the Cavalier Commander and I (astounded that I could get finance on my own!) bought the GTE. All these years on I've often wondered what became of the car, was it scrapped, sorn or still on the road. so needless to say I have turned to the owners club just to see if anyone out there happens to own him. the registration was F999PPU. I would love to know how he is, hoping that he has stayed in good shape and I guess most likely not how I remember him, but then again 35 years on the old car could possibly be thinking that I am not in the shape I was when I last saw it :). 35 years is a lot of cake down the road. Perhaps too sentimental - I know, but sometimes you just have to put it out there or you could spend your life not knowing... so please if anyone knows or owns this old car I would love to hear from you to see what became of him. (I know mechanical things are usually a she but when I was 25 I had named him when he was sat in the showroom before I even bought him. How times change - the showroom is now a Nandos and a Gails bakery! I don't know if this is the right place to put this out there but I don't know how these forums work i'm afraid..... Thank you for reading though.

Well now all the maintenance is sorted on the astra, it's time for a clean up to make her presentable for the mot. Had a good wash this evening, and tomorrow will be a good hoover and clean out inside. And if I have enough time left, I will get the polish out too. She's going to get spoilt.

Failed firmware upgrade

Hi Becks, since you just purchased the car, you can file a complaint with your dealer. If you bought it with an extended warranty, they should cover the issue. As a last resort, you can contact Vauxhall for assistance, and the Motor Ombudsman can help with that as well. -

My Corsa seems more noisy than I would expect as though all the sound deadening has been removed or the windows are all open? I had a 2017 Astra with similar issues compared to a 2015 model which seemed quieter? Is this something that can be cured or something I have to live with?

Finally got this sorted. Turns out that the speedo cluster can work loose on the plug to the main loom. I removed the cluster today, and gave the connections a clean. After refitting back in to the dash, I now have all clocks and gauges back working again. I can only wish I'd gone and seen my local garage earlier. Car wouldn't have been stood about so long. Booking m.o.t. tomorrow, so should be back on the road soon.

Sorry not to be more positive. It's disgusting. This happens frequently and Vauxhall hide behind the idea that we might not have followed instructions. It's crippled me financially and taken 2 months in my area to get it fixed! -

I had to get the infotainment unit replaced. In the end Vauxhall covered 50 % of the almost £1300 bill. Not nearly enough but better than nothing -

Did you manage to get this sorted? We have got exactly the same error. Only bought the car yesterday! -
Well 48hrs later, and car still has build up of static. Which is weird considering the battery was disconnected. But the good news is that I found our the problem with the gauges. It turns out that the connection into the speedo cluster can become worn. I removed it, looked at it , and then put it back. Now it is all working, even temp gauge is playing ball. So booking mot tomorrow, and hopefully be back on the road soon.

I have just got a Vauxhall Zafira 1.4i on a 2016 plate, great car to drive and I am still sorting out all of the switches. I do however have a problem as I cannot find the sat nave app on the screen, the paper work says that it is in the main screen

Hi. Did you find what the problem was? I have the same fault . I have changed the drive shafts fitted new discs, droplinks and new wheel hubs. Swapped the wheels around. Any advice would be appreciated

My partners beeing having issues with the car for the last couple of weeks going into limp mode Turn the engine off then on and it's fine but has been doing it intermittently for weeks Also had fuel rail pressure error so have changed this sensor and the filter (which CLEARLY hadn't been done on the service). Now it's come up DPF full, one mechanic just tried to do a force regeneration on it but it failed due to going into limp mode (may have been because of the fuel issue) but also the cooling fans started instantly kicking in so the temp wouldn't get up to temp so also changed the cooling temp sender as this can be caused as a back up if the sensor fails After taking it for a spin to try to see if the issue was fixed it still went into limp mode and cutting out as if someone's just ripped the battery out then draining the battery and even a jump start wouldn't start it so we charged the battery Now it's thrown up oil pressure low stop engine light to see that it's oil level is now stupidly high so after and oil change and filter (possibly 7/8L came out) It's now not starting or even cranking as if the battery's just completely dead that there's nothing in it to even crank it over although battery's fully charged and says heath it good And now I'm at a brick wall I really don't know what else to try

You wont be able to get one, you would have to extend it yourself, also if you DONT have touch and connect stereo, the screen will display no info except date and time anyway

The horn is under the battery tray and has its own battery connected to it. Good luck finding a replacement one, like everything with the antara, all the parts are like trying to find rocking horse poo. I wuld try disconnecting the tilt sensor under the passenger seat first and see if that fixes it, as passing cars ,trucks etc can set off the alarm by rocking the car and the tilt sensor if faulty will think its being moved.

Hi, I have felt a similar thing when coming to roundabouts - I’m advised that it could be the early stages of auto box failure. I also have a jolt when selecting drive when on a slight hill.
-
I have a 2014 CDTI with about 64k miles. The auto box has just started to jolt as it engages gear particularly if on a hill (up or down hill), but it’s inconsistent. My mechanic suggests it’s starting to fail. Can anyone advise on costs to replace with either a new or reconditioned unit. thanks Ferg

Hi, I live in Grimsby & I am looking for someone to swap a near side rear door. I have bought a replacement that has everything on it, so all it needs is fitting & sorting the central locking. Can anyone on here do this? If so any idea on cost. Happy to travel around 50 miles from Grimsby.

I've fitted new battery today, and it's made no difference unfortunately. I have disconnected it for now as the electric fan kicked in and wouldn't shut off until the battery was unhooked. I'm hoping that maybe overnight the electrics will discharge and when I reconnect the battery there will be an improvement. I have been told that there could be a fault in the cluster itself. So I might remove that and check it out.
