Battery going dead flat - shows no voltage. After running fo

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm Kenny Milne, I live at Kirkliston (just West of Edinburgh) I have just bought a 2017 1.6 diesel manual Design NAV CDTI ECO SS hatchback about 3 months ago. Very pleased with it, but it sudenly would not start. Battery did not even show any power at all, no volts showing, no dashboard lights. Breakdown man just jump started no problem and has run perfectly since. Brand new battery. Charge  showing about 14.4 volts. Battery charge while sitting 2 or 3 days is stable at 12.54 volts. Any ideas what is happening here please? The breakdown mechanic was baffled, me too. Any ideas/experiences welcomed. I've bought a jump starter box from Halfords to carry in the boot, just in case.

Thanks and best regards, Kenny.

your new battery is good 12.6v is normal   when fully charged  it can be anywhere between 12.6 and 13.2v the 14.4v is the charging voltage of your alternator

as to losing all power there might have been a interior light left on
