  1. Update on my mum's 2018 Vauxhall Crossland X, after an oil consumption test it's been found to have used 1 litre of oil for 585 miles. Topped up with 2 litres of oil today and the engine is now smoking badly and rattling. Perry's Doncaster advised that the car needs a new engine. 8 years old. Full main dealer MOT and service history. 61,354 miles on the clock and the engine is buggered. WTF?!
  2. My mum's 2018 Vauxhall Crossland X is having the same issues. Not a single issue until Vauxhall recalled for a timing belt change and since then drinking oil. Had a new cat fitted in May last year and failed the MOT in July owing to emissions. Replaced spark plugs and then passed MOT. Three weeks later the Engine Management Light was back on - emissions system again. Surely the car doesn't need a second new cat after 13 months? There's got to be an issue elsewhere in the engine that is leading to downstream issues with the cat? Has anyone resolved the issue?
