Cheers Andy, just dropped the new one off at Vauxhall in Bristol for a thorough check over, don't want another blown hose and consequent boil over and head skim/head gasket with all that entails! Seems a very common issue on the petrol engines, but too many LEZ areas now for a diesel really ....

I did the same with my old corsa. Worked a treat and no recurrence either!

Hello all. My 1.4t SE has just developed a liw level rhythmic thrumming sound when at idle, accompanied by a sort of "trickling" sound. Both seem to be behind the dashboard and I can't hear either from outside the car or from the engine bay. The "thrumming" seems to stop when A/C is switched on, and "trickling" stops after about 10 seconds. I suspect an A/C issue even though A/C seems to work very well, but before I spend £132 just getting vauxhall to have a look at it, wondering if anybody has any similar experience and/or advice please? Hello all, 63 yo truck driver, angler and newbie to Merivas, which I realky like for their practicality, flexibility and comfort. Recently bought my first one, a 2010 1.4t petrol which blew the head gasket within a month due to failure of a plastic pipe in a valve forming part of the cooling system. Too expensive to repair, so have now bought another meriva, with a full dealer history on it, and hoping to have more luck this time around! So far so good, we shall see.

Evening all, am I right in thinking that the 1.4t petrol engines are prone to head gasket failure? If so, are there any oreventative measures I can take beyond regular servicing? Thanks very much.

Hi. Does anybody know if rear coilspring fractures are a common issue with early Meriva B? Seem to be a lot of these coming up in mot histories on cars ive looked at. If so, anybody know if there are better quality springs available from someone other thanVauxhall? Cheers. Paul.

Hi all! My 2010 meriva b in pepperdust paint just blew the head gasket after the valve to the header tank and heater mAtrix fell apart. Plastic parts in a hot water system. Brilliant. Repairable with a head skim and gasket pack but I havent got time to do that. Anyway, the car is now sat outside my Dad's place in Horsham, West Sussex, and needs to be gone asap. It has 110,000 on the clock, 4no. 5~spoke alloys which I was going to refurbish, and minor impact/scrape damage to the n/s/f bumper from previous owner, which has very slightly distorted the front edge of the wing where it meets the bumper. Ir also has a few little trolley dings typical in a car of this age. Has a/c which works fine but otherwise basic spec. I think its the Excite, but i bought it in a hurry after a 6 month tt99 ban and only had it a week before it blew up. Comes with all relevant paperwork including stamped fsh, along with the original key and a new one just bought and programmed at a cost of over £300! Anyway, if anybody wants to make me a sensible offer, and can collect within a week (you'll need a trailer or tow), it's worth a fair bit for the turbo, exhaust, ECU, doors, bonnet, tailgate, gearbox, windscreen, interior etc. Local scrapper has offered me £300,so anything more than that would be acceptable! Id break it myself but nowhere to do it. Meanwhile, just bought another one as i really liked the car. Mug maybe? We shall see.
