I'm in the same situation. I spoke to a local auto electrician and he says it can't be done, he's tried it and had to mod wiring loom but still had warning lights on dash. I'm picking up a set of older insignia headlights 1ZT 011 165 and will try them out, My car has 1ZT 011 166-731 lights. I'll post back if it works out.

I believe that daytime running lights are only part of the mot for cars newer than 2018. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/mot-changes-20-may-2018
