  1. Hi, all ready to go on holiday, doing the usual car checks. Tyres, oil, water. Thought the water required just a little top up. So topped the header tank up to half full. Everything hunky dory. 10mls down the road and overheating warning light and message to pull over and idle engine. Lifted the bonnet and saw the header tank bubbling away and steam coming from the over flow. Stopped the car for about 10mins and tried again. Temp went right into the red then all of a sudden fell to normal. Needless to say, I returned home and we used the wife’s car. has anyone had this sort of reaction by just topping the water up with a cup full of water?
  2. Job done now anyway, but what a faff getting the bottom clip on right, never mind the job of removing the fog light bezel to get at it.
  3. Thanks, but went for a genuine GM part. I understand your view but thought if I ever have to take it into a Vauxhall garage I can just hear them saying, well you haven’t used GM parts.
  4. A friend has just told me that he had exactly the same problem and found that all the exhaust sensors etc. would be contaminated with oil and diesel. He said to run the car and try and burn off the rubbish that was in the sensors. I did this and as I thought, the Engine light came on again. Plugged in my reader and it didn’t bring up any fault codes. thought I would erase codes anyway. Engine light went off and car driving as normal now. everything good, so far. just done a 12ml trip down the motorway and car never missed a beat. I hope that’s a good sign.
  5. At the weekend I had the Intercooler pipe blow off at the top end. There was also a fair amount of smoke from the exhaust. I replaced the pipe today with a new GM part and the car seemed to be fine again. travelled 10mls down the road and the car went back into limp mode. Checked the hose again, OK. reset the codes but engine won’t rev over 3000 revs. any ideas folks
  6. Having examined the bezel unit when I got it out, it would appear that you can insert a small flat blade from the front at every lug position as you are prying it off. This actually releases the lugs and prevents any breakages. hindsight is a great thing but it may help someone else.
  7. Well as I had to get the job done, I couldn’t wait for replies so here is my prognosis. (Ooh that’s a big word) lol. Firstly I masked off all my paintwork to prevent damage. Then, as I didn’t have any plastic bodywork tools I used a broad bladed screwdriver to gently prise off the chrome strip. This levers off from the top, not from the bottom. Next I loosened off the clips on the right hand side by again gently prising them forward with a wide chisel. This is where you have to be careful. As the right hand side of the bezel is wider, you would think the bezel would slide off to the right, “NO” it slides slightly to the left. Had I known this I may not have broken two lugs off the bezel. Realising this (to late) I gently prised of the left hand side of the bezel. Note, let the lugs give up on there own, don’t be tempted to pull the bezel by ripping it off. I used a long screwdriver to gently ease the rest of the lugs out by putting the screwdriver in between the bezel and the bumper, from the right hand side. Well it’s off and reusable with the two broken lugs plastic welded back on. Hope this helps anyone else attempting the job. PS, plastic trim tools may have been a help.
  8. Hi all, I have seen loads of posts about fog lamp bezel removal. What I would like to know or confirm, is doi I lift the inboard side of the bezel then slide to the right. It is the passenger side bezel. I suppose this one slides to the right. loads of folks appear to have done this but no one really describes how to do it. looking at various photos on the net, that would appear to be logical. any help would be greatly appreciated. 1 Photo
  9. Hi Dave sorry it’s taken so long to reply but I have been out of the country. I can see the brown wire which is part of the seven core and attached to the relay. It was the brown wire on the opposite side of therelai I couldn’t see where it ended up.
  10. Hi All. Just got home after having to be towed 15mls. warning sign on dash, “Turbo boost pressure fault” Had a look and found the top connection of the Intercooler pipe had blown clean off. From what I have read, this seems to be a common occurrance. Advice please on which route to repair, ie washer repair kit, Complete OEM hose or aftermarket hose. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  11. Hi, using your diagram for the electrics on my Insignia Tourer. Everything fine except for the Brown side light wire from the relay. Your diagram doesn’t show where it goes. It appears to be wrapped in black tape and lost..can you enlighten me please or had you just, not connected it when you took the photo.. many thanks
