  2. Had the water pump off to be sure theres nothing wrong there, all is good, whilst at it ive found a bleed screw on the radiator, so at least i know my radiator is full, however i have still not been able to bleed the system fully, So the next thing is to buy a Vacuum refill kit so i can make sure there no air in the system as i fill it up.... really cant believe all the trouble im having!!!

  3. ok so done more fumbling around and come to the conclusion that my head is completely drained, did so by partially removing the thermostat housing from the 4 long bolts to the head and not a drop, so this leads me to thinking its the water pump what has gone, so underneath is a pic of the pipe that leads from the pump to the thermostat housing, should coolant flow in the direction as arrowed?

  4. Just thought I'd say hi. Although I would not call myself a car person, I have been a persistent vauxhall owner from a £600 vectra Sri I purchased as my third ever car in 2014. It was a considerable size upgrade from the two Peugeot 106's I had before that. Of course as a young driver I drove it until it eventually gave out but it owed me nothing and I think the scrappy turned it into a stock race car or demolition car or something like that. I have, along with my wife, had since then had a brand new corsa in 2016 which we swapped to a brand new mokka in 2018(fell into the PCP scam cycle with both of them). We decided to not to go brand new when we swapped to the 20 plate Grandland for her, which she still has now, after realising the mokka just wasn't big enough for a family. I ended up with a 66 plate 1.4i Astra elite which I loved as they are surprisingly nippy and kitted out with quite a few extras. I never even thought of joining an owners forum before, but early Feb 2024 I swapped out my astra for 67 plate Insignia Grand Sport which is is my first automatic car I've ever driven and I have to say I am completely in love with it. It's packed with what I can only imagine is almost all of the optional extras and because its the 2.0 260 bhp engine it is great fun to drive. Albeit very thirsty. And that about does it really. That's my vauxhall journey

  5. Greeting's great people of the VOC! I was talking to a friend at work regarding a "whistling" issue I have on my 2.0 sri CDTI insignia at work and he advised to join a Vauxhall forum and talk to other owners of Vauxhall's in the hopes of finding a solutions that's not going to cost hundreds at a garage! Some of the guy's i've spoke to about the issue have been like "It's not worth the money just get a new car" To which I replied ,,|, I love my Insig! haha, Don't want to replace her, only thing I'd want to change in the media centre on it, but im struggling to find somewhere up in Nottingham that'll fit one for me and get it working. So, on acceleration can hear the front of the engine like whistling, I don't know if its the turbo, water pump or what ever. I haven't noticed a loss of power, when I put my foot down in gear's 2 and 3 she still shifts, screen wash system still works, aircon still works, just a strange whistle on acceleration that im thinking COULD be a dirty turbo? to which im thinking of buying this to spray down it and give it a clean. Recently had a friend listen to the noise and he seems to think that could just do with an oil change (Which is done yearly anyway) or potentially a full engine flush using a product like that Liquid Moly (link to product) I'd love to get opinions from others that own Insignia's and Vauxhalls in general on what they think it could be? and potential non-garage fixes for it? Thank's in advance guys n gals

  6. Could be a coolant leak or slight leak from the exhaust which seals as it gets hot?

  7. Hi....welcome to the Club I would think there is a small hole in the intercooler or hose/pipe coming from the turbo Usually a rubber hose creates a rasping sound but a small hole in any solidly constructed components can emit a whistle. Alternatively, it is worth cleaning the turbo and also check for float on the shaft and condition of the compressor as you look into the exposed end of the turbo. Try IceBoxAutos for replacement audio system and they are based in Liverpool so not too far away from you Liquid Moly is a great product and have used it for years in engines and never had an issue

  8. First registered 23.05.2006 Lovely condition, low mileage 37,000 Only selling as no longer have the room to store it and not getting used as have other vehicles available. New cambelt fitted due to age, not due to mileage. Four new tyres fitted due to age, not due to mileage. Only blemish is a cigarette burn on the back seat which was present when I bought it. £3,200. 11. Thanks for that. I have changed the fuel pump but I haven’t checked the relay. I’ll give that a go first and thanks for your input.

  13. I recently had the wet belt issue on my GrandlandX 1.2. A Vauxhall dealership diagnosed the issue as Wet Belt and then asked for £1049 for the repair. Eventually I made a case via Vauxhall customer service and their Good Will Dept, (I gave no details except the dealership). They paid in full for the costs.

  14. For sale is my mk3 Vauxhall cavalier GLS. 2L automatic petrol. The car is fantastic, it’s out of MOT but will be good to a new home. It’s been in the family for 25 years and well maintained and serviced. Car has some signs of wear and tear which is expected for its age of 29 years. It drives spot on with plenty of power in the engine. Easily pulls away faster than other cars without trying! Gearbox is good as well. 4 speed automatic. Looking for £1000 but open to offers. V5, 2 keys and has fuel in it.

  15. Usually gear knobs either unscrew (anticlockwise) or pull directly upwards (but ensure your face is not directly above when doing this - been there before)
