New Member: Hi all
Hi All, Recently picked up a 2012 Astra GTC VXR. Initially wanted an ST MK2 for the unbeatable 5-pot burble, but reckoned I wouldn't sleep peacefully after I'd researched the sleeve cracking issue in-depth 😅 This led me to the Astra GTC VXR. I've been pleasantly surprised with the overall package and driving experience this car offers. The performance and looks are a killer combo and a testament to a time when manufacturers were fighting to have the hottest hatch, while still letting you plonk a few buttons to unleash the dark side. Glad to be here!

Vauxhall Astra 2011 power steering motor issue
Hi, thank you for adding me. I've only had a Vauxhall Astra for 7 months and I don't know much about cars, but she seemed a gem when I bought her. No rust, ran well, and at 51000 miles, although I paid a bit more than what she was worth as it was from a used car garage, I hoped I'd chosen well. Then, 4 months later, when I drove very slowly, the steering became very heavy. I took her to the garage. I had the battery, alternator and power steering pump looked at and all came back as ok. It's a 2011 car, so he said it's electric power steering, but this garage doesn't deal with electrics. And told me to make sure I take the car for longer runs. One day, the steering became very heavy after being parked for an hour. Plus, for the first time, lights came up on the dashboard: an amber steering wheel, the code 68 and an amber car with a spanner in it. I'd just done a 4 hour journey before parking, so I didn't think it was the battery, but I got it checked at Halfords and they said it was at 91%, so it doesn't need a new battery. I decided to take the car to a Perrys Vauchall garage. After diagnostics they said it needed a new power steering motor at a cost of £1857.25 including labour. I asked them if it's definitely the power steering motor, and they say yes, but I'm worried I'll pay out and then it doesn't fix it. Does this price sound reasonable, and do you rate the Perry Vauxhall garages? A friend said they're not true mechanics, which worried me. Not sure why they thought that. So, can I really trust that they have definitely found the issue? My brother said sell the car and cut my losses, but I don't want to lie to someone, but I also can't afford to sell it for £1857 less, as that's the price of what is needed to make it a truly sellable car. Any help appreciated, and if this is the wrong place to write this, could you please let me know where I should move it to. Thanks Ang :-)

For Sale - V/Vectra 2.0 (Petrol) SRi Nav T - Reg DN57HAU
Owned from new - metallic silver with factory fitted full body styling kit + 19in alloy wheels (snowflake design). Additional spare alloy wheel (purchased when no longer being manufactured). 130,000 miles - still runs extremely well. Bodywork in reasonably good condition for its age. Serviced and MOT'd last month. Excellent tyres - all tyres purchased during this year. Genuine reason for sale - running costs now somewhat of a luxury with only doing approx 2000 miles a year - for some years now. Does need money spending on it due to following issues - Offside & nearside inner drive shaft joints severely deteriorated (MOT minor defects) Nearside rear brake pipe corroded (MOT monitor & repair if necessary - advisory) Alloy wheels (which make the look of the car) could do with refurbishment. Panel on drivers door that operates both front windows not working. Petrol cap disconnected from central locking system as solenoid needs replacing. Wiper motor/linkages need attention as both wipers sweep against/beyond windscreen rubber surround. Water ingress into front passenger footwell. Reason unknown - suspect it may be windscreen seal damage/deterioration (not visible) where wiper blade has swept onto/over the rubber seal. Car needs TLC from a Vectra enthusiast who has the skills to maintain it. It would be such a shame to scrap it as 2.0 SRi petrol variants aren't so common these days - the car genuinely looks good. All offers considered. Tel: 07733 359313.

Easytronic 2005 Meriva Not Starting - Flashing F
Is it paddle shift as well? if so, maybe try turning the steering to a different direction in case there is a flat spot present or damp/dirt in the connections? Its worth a try and at least you can eliminate that off the list

Easytronic 2005 Meriva Not Starting - Flashing F
Hiya, Battery is good, and fully charged, after trying to set the gearbox to Neutral manually and setting the gear selector to Neutral, using OP com to make sure its set to N once it has been refitted and the brake is pressed the gear selector makes a noise and switches back to 4th, Looking on opcom I Can't see anything to do with a master reset. I was thinking about getting the selector actuator rebuilt but if its switching back to 4th from N i wouldn't have though anything was wrong with it. Trying to get the box to be in Neutral is a pain, I am going to try again at the weekend and see if I can get any further forward.

Not sure if it is connected but is the battery a good one and fully charged? Again, not sure but is there a master reset once the battery has been changed? I cannot see how it would have changed anything by leaving it standing except for any factory settings which maybe it cannot achieve through either a scantool to reset or record new voltage settings

No other fault codes displayed on the OpCom, We've been today trying to manually center the gearbox selector shaft. However, when we believe it is centered only one wheel turns, when we rotated the steering wheel to the right (fully) one wheel span forwards the other backwards. We have had the gear selector actuator out to manually put this into neutral aswell but when we believe to have them both in a neutral position the actuator doesnt align with selector shaft.

If you're in Salisbury then there is the scrapyard on Southampton Road (near Halfords) Also there is a scrapyard at Semley - Langford Car Spares who seem to have everything there and you can wander round and select what you want

Wet belt & hello!
Luckily the Corsa only has 1 wet belt on the earlier fords there are 2 belts camshaft drive and some garages only replace the top one, so when inspected it looks like the belt has been changed, but then the camshaft belt shreds.

Wet belt & hello!
I couldn't agree more with your comment about the Ford wet belt issues. Neighbour had a focus diesel, the wet belt degraded and sent particles of rubber through the oil system, thus slowly killing the engine. Ended up replacing whole engine. So yes get it checked out regularly for piece of mind.

2016 zafira 1.4 turbo tourer hose header tank outlet pipe
Hi there have you tried ebay? Failing that it might have to be a vauxhall dealership. I have found in the past that ebay has come up trumps on a lot of parts. Some can be high silly prices, but thee are quite a few that are decently priced. Hope this helps. Regards AndyR

2016 zafira 1.4 turbo tourer hose header tank outlet pipe
Hello all, As described above I'm needing the pipe quite urgently as the one currently on our Zafira is leaking and as of this minute I don't know where to find one anywhere at all which I find quite amazing as I thought these vehicles where popular, so as I'm running out of options I'm hoping the "Vauxhall Owners Club" could possibly help me as to try and locate one from a online seller or merchants somewhere, any help would be very much appreciated, please note if it helps this pipe is the one located on the "bottom" of the expansion tank. Thanks in advance Andy

Wet belt & hello!
Hi....welcome to the Club Judging by the history of the Ford Ecoboost engines with wetbelts it is a concern to say the least Consensus is that regular (even more frequent) oil changes is imperative and check what is coming out with the oil (fibres, etc)

Parcel shelf mounts
I can't find anything specific on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=vauxhall+zafira+parcel+shelf+brackets&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p4439441.m570.l1313 Maybe if he can find another Zafira and take a photo of the brackets to narrow down the search?

Wet belt & hello!
Hey, been a member for a few years but rarely used the forum and my previous 2 Corsa's ran like a dream. Did want to know if anyone that has a Corsa with a wet belt has had any issues? My car has been fine, had been contemplating bringing the service forward (last one done 27/01/25, bought car March 25) so things are checked before warranty runs out and MOT is due. Is the wet belt even covered under the warranty? Mileage atm is 28,000.
