  4. Hi All, Recently picked up a 2012 Astra GTC VXR. Initially wanted an ST MK2 for the unbeatable 5-pot burble, but reckoned I wouldn't sleep peacefully after I'd researched the sleeve cracking issue in-depth 😅 This led me to the Astra GTC VXR. I've been pleasantly surprised with the overall package and driving experience this car offers. The performance and looks are a killer combo and a testament to a time when manufacturers were fighting to have the hottest hatch, while still letting you plonk a few buttons to unleash the dark side. Glad to be here!

  6. Hi, thank you for adding me. I've only had a Vauxhall Astra for 7 months and I don't know much about cars, but she seemed a gem when I bought her. No rust, ran well, and at 51000 miles, although I paid a bit more than what she was worth as it was from a used car garage, I hoped I'd chosen well. Then, 4 months later, when I drove very slowly, the steering became very heavy. I took her to the garage. I had the battery, alternator and power steering pump looked at and all came back as ok. It's a 2011 car, so he said it's electric power steering, but this garage doesn't deal with electrics. And told me to make sure I take the car for longer runs. One day, the steering became very heavy after being parked for an hour. Plus, for the first time, lights came up on the dashboard: an amber steering wheel, the code 68 and an amber car with a spanner in it. I'd just done a 4 hour journey before parking, so I didn't think it was the battery, but I got it checked at Halfords and they said it was at 91%, so it doesn't need a new battery. I decided to take the car to a Perrys Vauchall garage. After diagnostics they said it needed a new power steering motor at a cost of £1857.25 including labour. I asked them if it's definitely the power steering motor, and they say yes, but I'm worried I'll pay out and then it doesn't fix it. Does this price sound reasonable, and do you rate the Perry Vauxhall garages? A friend said they're not true mechanics, which worried me. Not sure why they thought that. So, can I really trust that they have definitely found the issue? My brother said sell the car and cut my losses, but I don't want to lie to someone, but I also can't afford to sell it for £1857 less, as that's the price of what is needed to make it a truly sellable car. Any help appreciated, and if this is the wrong place to write this, could you please let me know where I should move it to. Thanks Ang :-)
  7. Owned from new - metallic silver with factory fitted full body styling kit + 19in alloy wheels (snowflake design). Additional spare alloy wheel (purchased when no longer being manufactured). 130,000 miles - still runs extremely well. Bodywork in reasonably good condition for its age. Serviced and MOT'd last month. Excellent tyres - all tyres purchased during this year. Genuine reason for sale - running costs now somewhat of a luxury with only doing approx 2000 miles a year - for some years now. Does need money spending on it due to following issues - Offside & nearside inner drive shaft joints severely deteriorated (MOT minor defects) Nearside rear brake pipe corroded (MOT monitor & repair if necessary - advisory) Alloy wheels (which make the look of the car) could do with refurbishment. Panel on drivers door that operates both front windows not working. Petrol cap disconnected from central locking system as solenoid needs replacing. Wiper motor/linkages need attention as both wipers sweep against/beyond windscreen rubber surround. Water ingress into front passenger footwell. Reason unknown - suspect it may be windscreen seal damage/deterioration (not visible) where wiper blade has swept onto/over the rubber seal. Car needs TLC from a Vectra enthusiast who has the skills to maintain it. It would be such a shame to scrap it as 2.0 SRi petrol variants aren't so common these days - the car genuinely looks good. All offers considered. Tel: 07733 359313.
  8. Is it paddle shift as well? if so, maybe try turning the steering to a different direction in case there is a flat spot present or damp/dirt in the connections? Its worth a try and at least you can eliminate that off the list
  9. Sounds very much like a suspension link rod that senses the angle of the vehicle (e.g. loaded or not loaded) and adjusts the headlamps automatically The link is usually located on the rear suspension somewhere and usually made of plastic which is why they tend to break

  11. Wheels removed from my Vectra SRI XP purchased from new, due to firm ride and bad back after 2k miles replaced with 18” alloys. Wheels with low profile tyres stored in garage as new. Any sensible offer considered.
  12. Owners handbook is the best way or working through the settings but may be an online version which would be easier to follow
  13. Langfords at Semley are bound to have something there but you will need to walk around the yard to find it - take some wellys with you :-)

  15. Luckily the Corsa only has 1 wet belt on the earlier fords there are 2 belts camshaft drive and some garages only replace the top one, so when inspected it looks like the belt has been changed, but then the camshaft belt shreds.
  16. Hi there have you tried ebay? Failing that it might have to be a vauxhall dealership. I have found in the past that ebay has come up trumps on a lot of parts. Some can be high silly prices, but thee are quite a few that are decently priced. Hope this helps. Regards AndyR
  17. I can't find anything specific on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=vauxhall+zafira+parcel+shelf+brackets&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p4439441.m570.l1313 Maybe if he can find another Zafira and take a photo of the brackets to narrow down the search?
  18. Hi anyone one know where can i find someone working on transmission control modules to reprogramming after gearbox change?
  19. Hi all, I'm new to the forum, I've done some hunting but can't seem to see if this question has been answered before. I have a 2007 vivaro with a crew cab and standard seats. I was wondering if it is a straight switch to remove these and replace them with a set of folding rear seats from a vivaro life/combi from the same year or model? Looking at creating a bed in the back whilst maintaining the ability to transport 6 people. Thanks in advance Jules
  20. I have two problems with my new grandland. 1. Electric boot will only open on it's own 10 per cent of the time 2. It will not run in hybrid mode if the fan is switched on. Fan off and it runs in in hybrid. Has anyone any suggestions on how to rectify these problems John
  21. Hello all. I was wondering is there anyone out there who knows how to remove the surround on the front foglights please to gain access to the lamps etc please. thank you. From Sean.
  22. Morning folks! Just wondering how people have managed if they have had a wet belt issue? My Mokka was bought new in 2022 and has done 34k miles. Serviced regularly and only once was it not serviced through Vauxhall in 2024, as they had a waiting list of over a month so I took it to formula one aurocentre. I had my last service through Vauxhall and within 3 weeks the engine light had come on saying the oil pressure was low. Given the service was so recent I went back, they confirmed that the oil was at the right level but topped it up anyway. They did not check the belt. The oil light came on again around 6 weeks ago, but then went off a day later. I called Vauxhall and they said to keep an eye on it but it might just be an electric issue. The light came on again 3 weeks ago and so I called my local vauxhall garage who couldn't fit me in until last week and I therefore asked a mechanic I know to come over and check it, who confirmed the wet belt has heavily deteriorated and to stop driving it. I took it to vauxhall last week, having called them daily to try and get a last minute cancellation appointment and they confirmed that it was a manufacturer fault but wouldn't fix it via goodwill as I had one service through F1. The invoice from F1 didn't state the oil type and after several calls to F1 they advised me that they can't amend invoices but did send me an email detailing everything used and done during that service, which I then forwarded to vauxhall. Vauxhall still refused to fix via goodwill and on top of that, won't give me an overall price to fix the car. Stating that the sump needs clearing and the belt replaced but they don't know if anything else needs doing. Seeing as they've checked the car already I would've thought that they would know but then I'm not a mechanic so 🤷 My question is, have any of you had a similar issue and how long did it take to resolve? I've only seen forums re other vehicles! Sorry for war and peace, but I thought best to give some background to my story :)
  23. Try putting your reg number into Eurocarparts website and look in engine section to see if it lists a timing belt or chain - easy way to determine which you have and also rough cost for parts
  24. Is fuse 4&5 under glove box for wiper motors or washer pump?
  25. Either a plug to the lamp has become detached or even a rear suspension suspension level sensor rod has become detached
  26. Two things I can think of - 1. if the belt has previously come off then was the tensioner okay or is it worn and therefore throwing the belt off? 2. a split turbo pressure hose to intercooler can produce this sound
  27. Hi....and welcome to the club I would start my search on eBay and make sure you check Opel even if you have to get it shipped in from Europe
  28. I believe i have seen something on eBay to resolve this - worth doing a search
  29. Did a google search for images of vacuum hoses so maybe if you zoom into some of the images you may find the locations https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=79f64c1ff2a1fa8b&udm=2&fbs=AIIjpHxU7SXXniUZfeShr2fp4giZ1Y6MJ25_tmWITc7uy4KIeioyp3OhN11EY0n5qfq-zEMZldv_eRjZ2XLYc5GnVnME7glWodDcaQwvGYJtospyF4GO5MC0p7Um53mJ2FnRmWwYsd7hv9AfrxH9qUZHRFRalIEFxklAeOUUu2HryaeymXfIRKrbIDV05r5-M57YhEO4LvvmDEUH_Q8-RZZ_9JlQJwsEpg&q=1999+vauxhall+cavalier+1.8+8v+single+point+injection+vacuum+hose+location&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjIjuSelauQAxXBbEEAHQ6NAV8QtKgLegQIFRAB&biw=1659&bih=847&dpr=1
